  • The potential risks of Korean public security has been increasing by economic stagnation. As a result of this, a feeling of unrest about our society causes expansion of private security industry as well as necessity of professional education. It has been 15years to produce security expert in colleges which is professional education institute, and academic efforts and contributions to society are shown remarkable results for the period. A private security industry had got public interest as a potential favorable job, because of increasing dependence of public to take care of unrest facts. Many colleges have introduced courses about public security because of facing necessity of professional education system. Then total 59 institutes including 22 universities and 37 colleges introduce courses of public security. Although name of courses are diverse depends on institution, purpose of course or members of course, the ultimate purpose of these courses is preventing public from crimes and managing public security. A fixed and out of date education system of universities in Korea can not produce talent person who people, companies and government want. The institutions have been recruiting many student so far, and it shows growth of the industry in quantity aspects. However quality aspect of the industry has been failed because it is hard to get a job for graduated students. • The importance of clear and effective communication at sea has been greatly emphasized due to the increase in multiculturalism on board both ocean-going and coastal vessels, and the necessity of systematic English training based on 'Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency' specified in STCW has also been recognized. With these growing needs in mind, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) updated the Maritime English (ME) Model Course 3.17 in 2015 by providing guidelines on language education within two separate categories, General Maritime English (GME) and Specialized Maritime English (SME). The IMO is now attempting to create a new, global framework of ME education and training, and this this new course model must first be thoroughly understood in order to explore the ways to apply the modified version into the context of current ME education in Korea and to design an updated language curriculum. Therefore, the general structural features of the new model course will be explained in this paper, and the course focus set by IMO and to be considered and/or adopted by the Republic of Korea will be closely examined. Finally, suggestions will be made on how to implement this revised model course in practice with the following focus: the development of localized curriculum for GME and SME; the provision of practical teaching guidance through relevant online and offline materials for class and self-study; and the establishment of qualification guidelines and a teaching support system for language teachers in maritime and language education.

  • This study aims to develop a research methodology course for graduate-level students using an information-seeking behaviour model of distance learners. Based on a case study and structured survey, the factors that motivate and hinder information-seeking behaviours were identified. The motivating factor for students seeking information through the research methodology course was the necessity to obtain a master's degree, while the hindering factor was the challenge of balancing work and study. The course was developed by leveraging motivational factors and addressing hindering factors. The results of this study can serve as foundational data for understanding students' information-seeking behaviour and establishing teaching and learning strategies to enhance students' information-seeking skills when developing online courses.

  • This research was conducted to investigate the perception of pre-service early childhood teachers regarding the importance of the rights of young children and necessity of the education of the rights. The survey covered 525 students attending six three-year-course colleges in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, Chonra-do, Gyeongsang-do, and Jeju-do, Korea. They were in their freshmen, sophomore, and junior year majoring in early childhood education. Firstly, the research found that pre-service early childhood teachers' awareness towards the importance children's rights was relatively high. The higher grade they were, the better perception for the importance of the rights of young children they had. Additionally, the teachers who were registered for courses related to the rights of young children understood the importance of children's rights especially well. Secondly, pre-service early childhood teachers highly recognized the necessity of education for the rights of young children. Compared to the freshmen and sophomores, the juniors had higher awareness levels about the necessity of early childhood education rights. On the other hand, being in a related course or not made no difference in their perception for the necessity of early childhood education rights. Lastly, pre-service childhood teachers had greater concern for the necessity of education rights rather than the importance of the rights of young children.

  • Currently financial support for vocational skills development training is provided based on the NCS standard unit price set according to the NCS occupational classification. Such a standard unit price system has the advantage of reducing administrative burdens required in managing the training levy-grant system. In this paper, it is pointed out that current unit price system may distort the social integration function of vocational training policy as it is based on the tuition fees of training course. As a basis for finding a more appropriate financial support system, we analyzed what factors are influencing the training course fees set by training institutions. As a result, it was confirmed that the monopolistic nature of the training courses or the high level of willingness of pay of training participants influenced the training course fees. Therefore, the necessity of removing the influence of such factors from unit price system was suggested so as that the training policy contributes to the social integration. Furthermore, it is required to establish new support criteria centered on the government's policy judgment if the training costs of all training courses cannot be exactly estimated.

  • In this paper, we describe capstone-related courses in the Computer information department of Dongyang-Mirae University and propose a capstone design model for computer engineering discipline based on operating experiences during the last year. Class schedules and contents, etc are presented from the case studies of two courses on system analysis and design and graduation work(capstone design) opened in 2015. Towards the successful operation of capstone design targeted to training practical and talented professionals with creative problem-solving skills, we propose six execution steps along with principal activities and outputs: Course plan, Project plan, Development, Reporting, Evaluation of students and coursework, and Course feedback. The capstone design model of this study is characterized by presenting the necessity and importance of pre and post steps such as 'Course Plan' and 'Course reflux' from a macroscopic view and by applying software engineering techniques such as prototyping, configuration managements, etc to it.

  • This thesis examines a significant way to enhancing and improving the term/phenomenon of performer training system in contemporary Korean theatre. To articulate the matters, this research engages in discussing and criticizing those problematic issues that we, as an instructor/trainer, have faced with through the last decades in the field of performer training and education. Specifically, we concern with the necessity of an applicable and appropriate educational/training system where each student-actor would discover his/her own adaptability by evaluating what a specific method and approach is. This atmosphere accurately provided by an instructor/trainer can also facilitate and enhance the young students' potential possibilities and/or talent, that is, as we argue a way to accomplish each performer's true nature. To achieve the goals, we underlie the necessity of establishing and/or settling performer training program/course by means of an alternative path. The research finding shows that within the atmosphere each student could share then interrogate what a possible or ideal way is according to his/her comprehensive understandings with clearer purpose: what kind of performers would you produce, train, and/or educate.
