A Study on the Orientalism Expressed in the Fashion of 1990's (1990년대 패션에 나타난 오리엔탈리즘에 관한연구)

  • To analyze the characteristics of Orientalism which is expressed in the fashion of the 1990's this study was examined according to three aspects such as form textiles and pattern and the aspects was considered with regard to Chinese Indian Japanese Korean, Southeas Asian and North African style. 1. In form Orientalism which is influenced by latest other fashion trend; Naturalism and Minimalism is expressed as a comfortable casual style which simplifies the way of wearing and mixes the characteristic elements of folk costume with western costume. The way of layerd wearing like knotting wrapping draping and the symbolic from which is inspired by the unique are of each country are shown. 2. In textiles Chinese Japanese and Indian silk as well as Southeast Asian and North African cotton show a splendid oriental impression using vivid color. On the other hand the linens of Korea like hemp and ramie emphasize natural characteristics and show a simple and unartificial oriental beauty. But in the use of material and color it shows a remarkable tendency to break the preconceived idea by coordinating a luxurious silk with a practical denim or harmonizing technical new-masterials with traditional materials. 3. In pattern the decorative elements of Orientalism such as a traditional pattern skills to dye embroidery and other decorations are emphasized on the form of western costume. The sketchy patterns of Chinese Korean and Japanese styles which include the pattern of a flower a bamboo and a butterfly are expressed using embroidery or textile printing. The geometrical seriate patterns of Southeast Asian and North African styles use traditional dyeing methods like Batik. Also the Indian technique of decoration like Mirro Work satisfies handcrafted royalty and feminine romantic taste in modern minimal fashion. The Orientalism expressed in the fashion of 1990's emphasizes the characteristics of people wearing colthing which break the preconceived idea by simplifying the form harmonizing differences between oriental and western cultures and mixing the elements of traditional costumes among countries. Most of all. Ethno using geonmetrical seriate pattern and technical new metal material and Romantic Ethnic using flower embroidery precious stones and beads are appearing as a distinctinve feature.

Study on Fashion Sensibility and Emotion through Tattoo Fashion (타투 패션에 따른 패션감성과 감정연구)

  • The objective of this study is to provide the basis to planning the design of commercial products and effective image coordination for various situation in investigating the existence of Tattoo with an examination of fashion sensibilities and emotions as well as in analyzing Tattoo fashions which have an effect on the unique image coordinations in the fashion collection. Stimulus pictures have collected from fashion photographs appeared Tattoo expression released on the fashion collection and selected 35 pieces of pictures out of total through the analysing process in many times. Valuation tools have used with 19 pairs of adjective as fashion sensibilities valuation tool and 13 questionnaire as emotion valuation tool. Data has been collected from August 30th to September 17th on the subject of 20's men and women who live in Busan city area and those data has been analyzed by using SPSS statistics package program. The summary and conclusion of verified outcomes on this study are as follows: 1. Main factors of fashion sensibilities about Tattoo fashion are composed of three factors, such as Attractiveness, Visibility, Maturity and those factors have explained by 60.9%. On the other han, the fashion emotions are composed of negative emotion and positive emotion and explained by 66.3%. 2. The image of Tattoo fashion has shown four groups; Sexy, Romantic, Grotesque, Natural. 3. The positioning according to the image of Tattoo fashion has interpreted that X-axis as Grotesque-Romantic, Y-axis as Simple-Dazzling according to design features.

Analysis of the Design Characteristics of the Korean Commercial Interior Design in 1970's (1970년대 한국상업공간에 나타난 디자인 특성 분석)

  • In the 1970's the Interior Design Associations was established and the activity of youth designers who werecalled the "first generation of Korean interior designers" were created. This study is aimed to analyze characteristics and trends of commercial interior design in the 1970's. The design methods include the documentary research and the actual proof research conducted. The frames of analysis were made by the background theories about Korean interior design, and the annual case studies were analyzed and estimated according to the design types. The design types were analyzed by the geometrical simplicity research, the romantic emotional expression, the Korean identity expression, the machine technical asthetic expression and the eclectic style with western classics. In the early 1970's, the abstract, brief, and simple expression were presented most frequently by the geometrical form and the repetition of the pattern. From the mid-1970's the romantic and emotional atmosphere of the youth culture that was popular at that time were expressed as vernacular design by the rough finishing of the natural materials such as plaster, brick, and wood floorings etc. The space such as a Korean food restaurant relates to the Korean traditional culture aims to be different through the expression by the Korean traditional patterns, furniture, and materials. In the late 1970's the metals and glass were used for the expression of the machine aesthetic form but was not popular because of the rare application. The type that revived the past western traditional form was presented by using the arch, dome, and the curved and luxurious moldings.

Development of Wedding Nail Art Based on the Design Elements of Wedding Dress -Focused on patterns and decorative details- (웨딩 드레스의 디자인 요소에 따른 웨딩 네일아트 개발 -문양과 장식적 디테일을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the design components of wedding dresses and develop wedding nail art based on this for total wedding styling that reflects the changing needs of consumers. As a research method, 750 dress photos posted on the wedding platform Wedding Friends were analyzed for patterns, decorative details, and images of the wedding dress, and nail art designs were developed based on the results. As a result of the analysis, there were many natural patterns of flowers and plants, no patterns, and geometric patterns, and the arrangement of patterns was the most common. Looking at the decorative details, there were many wrinkle details, slits, and cutouts such as flounce, frill, and ruffle, and there were many lace, sequins, and spangles in trimming. The application area of the decorative detail was concentrated on the entire dress or neckline. Based on the analysis results, five wedding nail art pieces suitable for total wedding styling were developed. Three works of the concept of "Elegant Bride" used the patterns and sparkling trimming of the wedding dress, and two works of the concept of "romantic moment" used voluminous embosses to express romantic sensibilities in 2D and 3D forms. Through this study, we were able to confirm the importance and value of nail art in total wedding styling and are expected to contribute to the development of creative nail art.

  • Due to the modern appearance management craze to deliver a positive image to others, beauty has been subdivided and diversified based on science and technology, and has established itself as a professional technical profession. As the national technical qualification for makeup cosmetologists is separated from cosmetologists (integrated), it is necessary to analyze the correlation with the job attitude of make-up cosmetologists at industrial sites along with verification of the effectiveness of the practical test task. Therefore, in this study, the first task, wedding (romantic), wedding (classic), hanbok, natural makeup, etc., to investigate the job efficacy and job satisfaction perceived by makeup beauticians due to beauty makeup procedures, such as wedding (romantic), wedding (classic), and after establishing a hypothesis. As a result of the study, it was found that wedding classic makeup and wedding romantic makeup treatment induce job efficacy and job satisfaction, respectively, in makeup artists. This suggests that high saturation and intense color expression have a positive effect on job attitude due to the nature of makeup work. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it is judged that future efforts are needed to update the practical makeup tasks that have doubled the effectiveness and to improve the job attitude of makeup beauticians.

Using a white natural background for the urban style created a cool visual image. The use of an interior background lead to warmer images and more defination lines Causal images created a rural and warm image which expressed charm and a soft visual while using a rural and natural background. A most unharmonious and hard image was created when using an urban and formatted artificial background. The coolest visual image was created with a cool and natural background. Feminine and flawless images created urban and neat visual image using an urban and formatted artificial background. Korean Women's Preferences and Emotional Images Associated Fashion Design with Flower Printings (꽃문양이 표현된 패션스타일에 대한 한국 여성의 선호도와 감성이미지)

  • Flower images are used as a design motif in various fields. Flower printings in clothes, in particular, usually represent nature. This study sets out to identify the characteristics of different fashion styles with flower printings, as well as the preferences and emotional images of Korean women in their 20s. The flower printings used in fashion design were classified into 5 types of styles: Modern, Natural Romantic, Maximalism, Neo-Hippie, and Ethnic style. Literature review and survey were conducted to identify the emotional images associated with the flower printings, as well as women's preferences. Through literature review, this study noted the formative elements of flower printings and their characteristics, as expressed in fashion designs. Then, the different styles were classified in order to provide theoretical foundation for the survey. The results of the study were significant in that they contributed to the definition and academic systemization of the characteristics of fashion styles with flower printings. Moreover, the study opened up possibilities for utilizing flowers to express a greater variety of meanings and influences in fashion. The findings can be used to enable fashion styles and emotional influences to be expressed through designs using natural motifs besides flowers.

  • This study examines the characteristics of expressing hippie styles in contemporary women's collections and analyzes them to benefit future fashion design and research. This study reviewed advanced research, fashion magazines, and information providers. The advanced research determined the study's scope by pinpointing the designers who introduced the hippie style into their collections. The results are as follows: First, the reproduced hippie style appears as the combination of various colors and materials, a convergence or mixture of styles, or the use of collage or patchwork. It employs natural silhouettes or varied colors and materials, which makes the renewed hippie style more luxurious than in the past. Second, the reproduced hippie style emphasizes and distinguishes between two types of femininity: a girlish, romantic image using A-line silhouettes and, bright, gleaming colors, and a sexy version that boldly exposes the body or women's curves and, uses soft and flexible materials. Third, the exotic tendencies found in the reproduced hippie style reflect the characteristics of the times, folk costume, or eastern or western features perceived as exotic. Recently, traditional costumes have changed slightly to recall characteristics found in the past. Fourth, the reproduced hippie style reflects hippies' affection for and interest in nature by using environmentally-friendly materials like natural fibers. Flowers, the symbol of hippies, appear most frequently.

Characteristics of Colors and Color Images on fashion Web Sites (패션 웹사이트의 색채 특성와 이미지)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of colors and color images on fashion web sites, and to provide efficient color informatiom which is useful in color planning and is suitable for brand image on fashion web sites.216 color sample used by 48 fashion web sites were collected and analyzed. The results of this study are as follows; First, dominant colors on fashion web sites are neutral color such as white, gray, black and warm colors such as red, yellow red, yellow. Except blue, cool colors show low usage ratio. Second, the color tones of vivid, strong, light, dull, dark, dark grayish were shown in order. Third, the color images on fashion web sites are casual, modem, romantic, natural, elegant, chic, classic, dandy, pretty, clear, cool casual, dynamic, gorgeous, ethnic and formal.
