Because of the growing demand for protect and maintain one's health, population search for good water increase very rapid in recent. This study was performed to investigate the at 432 sites natural spring water quality in Seoul. Samples for analysis were collected form January to December in 2001. The quality of water was evaluated by analyzing fourty items of Korea drinking water criteria. The main results of this study were as follows 1. The rate of natural spring water was 26.6% and the Total colony, E.Coli and Yersinia of the total incongruence cause was 67.9% 2. The distribution of phisical-chemical item on the incongruence cause was Residues on evaporation 8.6%, Turbidity 4.3%, Nitrate nitrogen 2.5%, pH 2.5% and F-1,2% 3. The most population area of mean drinking population per one day was that man of Gangnam was 312.92 person. Next to Yangcheon Seocho Seodaemun and Dongjak was 229.6, 195.31, 190.50, 190,00 person. 4. The more person and the number of natural spring water, the more non passed drinking criteria natural spring water except for Gangnam and Gangbuk. 5. The corelationship of drinking population and results of the tests do not exist and the corelationship of results and Total colony, E.Coli, Color, Turbidity, KMNO4 consumption, Residues on evaporation, Fe, Mn, Zn and A1 are existed positive relationship.
Community drinking water (CDW), mostly naturally flowing groundwater, plays important roles in supplying drinking water for urban and rural residents in Korea. Over 1,600 CDW facilities are distributed throughout the country, many of them situated in the outskirts of metropolitan cities. A large proportion of Korean people have become dependent on CDW for drinking due to a distrust of piped water's quality and a strong belief in the special medicinal effects of some CDWs. However, administrative and official management and the control of CDW facilities have been inadequate when compared with the strict examination and control of commercial bottled water, which is physically treated groundwater from deep bedrock aquifers. In this study, even though signs of anthropogenic contamination were not generally found, the tested chemical compositions of selected CDWs featured high enrichment of some constituents including Ca, Mg, Na, and HCO3 with natural origins such as water-rock interactions. Careless consumption of particular CDWs, which has no scientific basis, will not guarantee health improvement. Consequently, more intensive management of CDW facilities and a long-term interdisciplinary examination of the health effects of CDWs are needed to effectively protect people's health.

This present study has dealt with the natural convection of water in a rectangular vessel which has cooling point at the center of itself with numerically. The finite difference method (FDM) is presented for the two-dimensional computer simulation of water controlled by natural convection and heat conduction. According to this study, It is cleared that the overturn of density is clearly existed at the temperature of $4[^{\circ}C]$ and that was compared with experimental result. Also the change of natural convection is known from the streamlines and isotherms. Most of all. It is cleared that the overturn of natural convection is changed with time caused by the fact that the temperature and density relationship of water.

This work present the experimental resutls for the free vibration of unstiffened, stiffened cylindrical shell filled with air, half water and full water. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of unstiffened, stiffened cylindrical shell are obtained experimentally also. The natural frequencies of stiffened cylindrical shell were generally highter than those of unstiffened cylindrical shell and natural requencies were decreased as cylindrical shell was filled with water. The effect of circumferential stiffener in the first mode was shown that natural frequency more increased 25% at air environment, 29% at half water environment and 37% at full water than those of unstiffened cylindrical shell, respectively. Also, the natural frequencies were decreased according to the added mass effect of fluid in the shell of unstiffened and stiffened cylindrical shell. The six mode shape results of all cases are simular and given. The natural frequencies are determined for a wide range of parameters : e.g. unstiffened shell, and filled with air, half and full water. The effects of varying the parameters on the free vibration frequencies and mode shapes are discussed.
The effects of foundation scour depth and riverbed condition on the natural frequencies of a typical cross-river integral abutment bridge have been studied. The conventional operational modal analysis technique has been employed in order to extract the modal properties of the bridge and the results have been used in the Finite Element (FE) model updating procedure. Two tests have been carried out in two different levels of water and wet condition of the riverbed. In the first test, the riverbed was in dry condition for two subsequent years and the level of water was 10 meter lower than the natural riverbed. In the second test, the river was opened to water flow from the upstream dam and the level of water was 2 meter higher than the natural riverbed. The results of these two tests have also been used in order to find to what extend the presence of water flow in the river and saturation of the surrounding soil affect the bridge natural frequencies. Finally, the updated FE model of the bridge has been applied in a series of parametric analyses incorporating the effect of piles' relative scour depth on the bridge natural frequency of the first four vibration modes.

This study aims to find the characteristics of damage and states of natural disasters at Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do from 1985 to 2004. Using the data of Statistical yearbook of calamities issued by the National Emergency Management Agency and Annual Climatological Report issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration. we have analyzed the cause, elements, and vulnerable regions for natural disasters. Major causes of natural disaster at Gimhae are four, such as a heavy rain, heavy rain typhoon, typhoon, storm snow, and storm. The cause of disaster recorded the most amount of damage is typhoon. The areas of Hallim-myeon, Sangdong-myeon, and Saengnim-myeon are classified the vulnerable region for the natural disasters in Gimhae. Therefore, it seems necessary to build natural disaster mitigation plan each cause of disaster to control water resources and to reduce damage for these areas.
In recent years, the sales of bottled spring water (BSW) have been drastically increasing in Korea and other countries, which accompanied great interests in conservation and reclamation of natural mineral water (NMW). In this study, management and research activities on NMW in Europe, USA, and Codex Alimentarius were reviewed. In each region, NMW is regulated with its own quality standards that differ from ordinary drinking water, and management actions are strictly implemented to protect water resources and to secure quality of NMW. Many studies on NMW were carried out for monitoring inorganic constituents including major and trace elements in national levels for bottled NMW, groundwater, and tap water in other countries. In Korea, NMW became commercialized in 1995 when BSW was legally approved as a drinking water. To further promote utilization of various types of NMW in Korea, regulations and policies for NMW need to be revised in accordance with international NMW management trends. Further, studies of NMW that compile a comprehensive set of physical and chemical parameters of NMW are also needed to properly understand occurrences, hydrogeological and geochemical processes of NMW, as well as to evaluate its potential use as a natural resource.
Gadolinium (Gd), one of a rare earth element (REE), has been widely used worldwide since the 1980s, as a resource material for contrast agents injected into examiners of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test. The organic complexed form of Gd shows an extremely stable behavior in natural environment (water), so is known that the artificial Gd from medical uses is not removed from the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) and eventually introduced into the ocean through the estuary. Since the 1990s, some previous studies have often been conducted on Gd anomalies in natural water and their effects an artificial origin from land or metropolitan areas, but little research has been potential impacts on the ocean water. In this paper, we review and introduce recent studies related to Gd anomaly in natural water and related marine effects, and also propose the future research directions.
Natural convection and thermal stratification phenomena are found in large water pools that are being used as heat sinks for decay heat removal from the reactor core using passive heat removal systems. In this study, the two-phase (water and air) natural convection and thermal stratification phenomena with conjugate heat transfer in the rectangular enclosure were investigated numerically using ANSYS Fluent 17.2 code. The transient numerical simulations of these phenomena in the full-scale computational domain of the experimental facility were performed. Generation of water vapour bubbles around the heater rod and evaporation phenomena were included in this numerical investigation. The results of numerical simulations are in good agreement with experimental measurements. This shows that the natural convection is formed in region above the heater rod and the water is thermally stratified in the region below the heater rod. The heat from higher region and from the heater rod is transferred to the lower region via conduction. The thermal stratification disappears and the water becomes well mixed, only after the water temperature reaches the saturation temperature and boiling starts. The developed modelling approach and obtained results provide guidelines for numerical investigations of thermal-hydraulic processes in the water pools for passive residual heat removal systems or spent nuclear fuel pools considering the concreate walls of the pool and main room above the pool.
