Ferroptosis is a new kind of programmed cell death of which occurrence in microorganisms is not clearly verified. The elevated level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) influences cellular metabolisms through highly reactive hydroxyl radical formation under the iron-dependent Fenton reaction. Iron contributes to ROS production and acts as a cofactor for lipoxygenase to catalyze poly unsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) oxidation, exerting oxidative damage in cells. While ferroptosis is known to take place only in mammalian cells, recent studies discovered the possible ferroptosis-like death in few specific microorganisms. Capacity of integrating PUFA into intracellular membrane phospholipid has been considered as a key factor in bacterial or fungal ferroptosis-like death. Vibrio species in bacteria and Saccharomyces cerevisiae in fungi exhibited certain characteristics. Therefore, this review focus on introducing the occurrence of ferroptosis-like death in microorganisms and investigating the mode of action underlying the cells based on contribution of lipid peroxidation and iron-dependent reaction.
This study was conducted to examine the effect of nighttime ventilation and heating on changes in temperature and humidity, the occurrence of white rust, and growth of standard chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum) 'Baekma' in a greenhouse. For the ventilation treatments, the mean nighttime humidity in the control greenhouse, which had a closed side window, was higher (94.5%), but the humidity in the natural and natural+fan ventilation treatments was lower (74.3% and 72.8%, respectively). The rate of occurrence of white rust at 34 days after treatment was 100, 98.3, 75.6, and 43.3% for the control, fan ventilation, natural ventilation, and natural+fan ventilation treatments, respectively. The number of infected leaves and telia were the lowest in the natural+fan ventilation treatment compared with the other treatments. The growth of the chrysanthemum 'Baekma' was significantly suppressed in the control because of the occurrence of white rust and high humidity, while plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, and fresh weight were the greatest in the natural+fan ventilation treatment. For the heating treatments, the mean nighttime temperature of the control (RH 95% heating), which was heating and held at 95% humidity, was $18.4^{\circ}C$, while the temperature of the heating treatment, which was held at 70% relative humidity (RH 70% heating) was $25.8^{\circ}C$. The rate of occurrence of white rust (34.4%), number of infected leaves (0.9), and telia (1.0) were the lowest in the RH 70% heating treatment compared with the other heating conditions. Also, the RH 70% heating treatment showed the best growth in terms of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and fresh weight. Therefore, the natural+fan ventilation and RH 70% heating treatments were effective for the control of white rust and the growth of standard chrysanthemum 'Baekma' in a greenhouse.
This research is inquired to the residents in Kimcheon, Kyongsang-Boukdo and in Kangnung, Yangyang, Kangwon-Do. The residents were damaged by typhoon ${\ulcorner}RUSA{\lrcorner}$ in 2002, which occurred the biggest damage in our country's natural disaster. The result of inquiry is arranged in this research. Inquiry contents arrange a current events points through the inquiry. which is about the resident's demand and confrontation caused by a big disaster occurrence; the damage present condition which is caused by typhoon ${\ulcorner}RUSA{\lrcorner},$ the countermeasure condition on damage occurrence, the necessity content of area disaster information, the difficulty factor of damage restoration, the evaluation of the government and relation group's countermeasure which is about typhoon ${\ulcorner}RUSA{\lrcorner},$ the mental and body problem after disaster occurrence. And inquiry contents present the fundamental data for establishing the area prevention of disaster plan hereafter.
Frequent occurrence of off-type plants in a given cultivar has been a serious problem in both breeder's and farmer's fields. An experiment was designed to examine the differences in rate of occurrence of off-type plants among Tongil-type cultivars (high yielding cultivars derived from indica/japonica hybridization) from which the possible cause of higher occurrence of off-type plant in a specific cultivar was deduced. Among five Tongil-type cultivars examined for morphological variant in the field, only one cultivar, Dasanbyeo, had off-type plants. When analyzed with SSR markers, off-type plants showed different band patterns from original cultivar, having several extra bands in addition to cultivar-specific band, suggesting that off-type plants were originated from Dasanbyeo, rather than originated from mixing or mishandling of seed materials with other cultivars. The possible cause of off-type occurrence seems to be natural pollination with other cuItivars adjacent to the original cultivar during seed multiplication. This was supported from the observation that self-crossed progeny of the off type plants showed a wide range of variation of agronomic traits which could not be observed when there was a smaller introduction of genes to the fixed germplasm as happened in the case of cultivar mutation. Another evidence supported this idea that Dasanbyeo showed much of difference in floral organ and behavior to other cultivar to be subjected to higher out-crossing than other cultivars examined.

Climate change due to global warming and changes in land use increase the development time and distribution, as well as the abundance, of mosquitoes, thereby negatively affecting human life and health. In this study, we investigated the habitat characteristics of mosquito occurrence sites in Danwon-gu, Ansan city, Korea, based on a daily record of civil pest complaints lodged at the Danwon-gu Community Health Center. We considered two types of factors (natural and artificial) known to affect mosquito occurrence. We confirmed a total of 554 cases of mosquito occurrence from March 2014 to August 2017. The total study area was $49.11km^2$, with urban areas constituting the largest proportion. Additionally, we investigated habitat preferences of mosquitoes in terms of terrain factors; generally, mosquitoes occurred at low elevations and on low slopes. Regarding the preference of oviposition sites, mosquitoes occurred at higher rates near streams and crops lands. The rate of mosquito occurrence tended to increase in areas with dense human populations. Regarding climatic factors, the rate of mosquito occurrence increased in areas with high temperature and low precipitation.
Recently, occurrence frequency of natural disasters decrease but scale of damage increase remarkably by the Climate change due to global warming. Especially, extreme heat become more critical weather problem in the Korean Peninsula. But, we don't have exact threshold about extreme heat. Extreme heat does not classify into natural disaster. Therefore, we have compared death count of the natural disaster with the one of extreme heat at Seoul, Korea. As a result, the number of death by extreme heat don't smaller than one by the natural disasters and we knew extreme heat have also to consider as natural disaster.

Direct numerical simulation (DNS) is performed to investigate suppressed wake transition and occurrence of lock-on in the wake of a circular cylinder disturbed by sinusoidal perturbation at the Reynolds number of 220 (A-mode instability regime). The sinusoidal perturbation, of which the frequency is near twice the natural shedding frequency, is superimposed on the free stream velocity. It is shown that the wake transition behind the circular cylinder can be suppressed due to the perturbation of the free stream velocity. This change causes a jump in the Strouhal number from the value corresponding to A-mode instability regime to the value corresponding to retarded wake transition regime (extrapolated from laminar shedding regime) in the Strouhal-Reynolds number relationship. As a result, vortex shedding frequency is locked on the perturbation frequency depending not on the natural shedding frequency but on the modified shedding frequency.
Magnetic storms are almost always accompanied with substorms or substorm-like disturbances. Understanding the nature of the storm-time substorm is important for the currently critical issue of the storm-substorm relation. In this work we have done a statistical analysis in a straightforward way to see whether the storm-time substorms are preferably spontaneous or triggered. On the basis of 301 storm-time substorms selected for this work, we have found that the occurrence of about $28\%$ of them was spontaneous while only $6.5\%$ were associated with a clear trigger(s). The rest of the events were mostly associated with complex variations of IMF. The significant percentage for the spontaneous substorms implies that the possibility of finding a storm without a substorm is greatly reduced due to the spontaneous occurrence of the substorm even when the solar wind and IMF condition remains completely steady during the storm time.

A intergeneric hybrid between Rhodeus uyekii and Acheilognathus signifer was collected in the Jojongcheon Bukhan River. The hybrid showed intermediate characteristics of two parental types in some key characters, such as color pattern of body, pigmentation of dorsal, anal, and caudal fins, and body spot and stripe. In addition, the hybrid had a fairly large number of lateral line scales, while it lacked a barbel, which is known as a key intergeneric character. The probable occurrence of a natural hybrid is supported by a viable $F_1$ hybrid produced with the parental species.
