An image analysis was used for the interpretation of microstructures of ferrous metal artifacts. For the purposes, various microstructural features such as average grain size, phase area, shape factor, and composition of the inclusions, were parameterized for the information about manufacturing techniques such as casting, heating and tempering. The carbon content was determined through the evaluation of the amount of pearlite phase. As the amount of pearlite phase increased the shape factor also increased. Grain size was relatively smaller in trans-section than in cross-section. The manufacturing direction was trans-sectional because the orientation of inclusions was elongated lengthwise. All inclusions was of silicate groups and the manufacturing temperature was estimated up to $1450^{\circ}C$.
The hair designers are fashion leaders who affect hair color of people. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to give some tips to satisfy customers through surveying hair designers most like color and the criteria of products choice. To have practical result, I use survey method. I took 120 hair designers who work for Park Jun beauty salon for the survey data. Among these data, I used 103 for the final data of analysis. The results are following, male hair designers like natural brown and blue coral color for hair coating. In addition, they like black color for coloring. Female hair designers like much more various color, they like orange color for coating and natural brown for coloring. Hair designers much more satisfied for international brand goods in all criteria except price. All of hair designers have favorite goods for the quality and brand image. Therefore domestic brands need much more effort to improve quality and its brand image.

This paper describes the influence of through-flow on the mixed convection in a parallel plates with the upper part is cooled and the lower part heated. When forced convection is imposed on natural convection, it is found that the flow pattern of mixed convection in the parallel plates can be classified into three patterns which were affected by Reynolds number. In such a mixed convection, the flow pattern plays an important role in the heat transfer process. In this study, thermo-sensitive liquid crystal suspension method is employed, then the visualization image acquired through the above method is processed by the color image processing technique and the two-dimensional velocity vector and temperature configuration are measured simultaneously.
In this study, we have investigated the flow rate effects of Ag nanoparticle (NP) suspensions on the progress of the cell cycle by using a microfluidic image cytometry (${\mu}FIC$)-based approach. Compared with the conventional "static" exposure conditions, enhancements in G2 phase arrest were observed for the cells under continuously flowing "dynamic" exposure conditions. The "dynamic" exposure conditions, which mimic in vivo systems, induced an enhanced cytotoxicity by accelerating G2 phase arrest and subsequent apoptosis processes. Moreover, we have also shown that the increases in delivered NP dose due to the continuous supply of Ag NPs contributed dominantly to the enhanced cytotoxicity observed under the "dynamic" exposure conditions, while the shear stress caused by these slowly flowing fluids (i.e., flow rates of 6 and $30{\mu}L/h$) had only a minor influence on the observed enhancement in cytotoxicity.

Natural disasters such as a ground collapse and a landslide have broken out due to the climate change of the Korea and the reckless expansion of cities and roads. The climate changes and the reckless urbanization have made the ground weak. Thus, it is important to keep a close eye on the highly weakened landslide and to prevent its natural disasters. In order to prevent these disasters, this paper presents a system of recognizing the road slide condition by measuring the displacements using laser scanner instrument. The previous system of monitoring the road slide has some problems as inaccurate recognition due to using only images from a camera, or expensive system such as artificial satellites and aircraft systems. To solve this problem, our proposed system uses the 3D range data from the laser scanner for measuring the accurate displacement of the road slide and optical flows from the Lucas-Kanade algorithm for recognizing the road slide in the image.

Due to the bandwidth and storage limitations medical images are needed to be compressed before transmission and storage. DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) specification, which is the medical images standard, provides a mechanism for supporting the use of JPEG still image compression standard. In this paper, we explain a method for compressing medical images by PEG standard and propose two methods for JPEG compression. First, because medical images differ from natural images in optical feature, we propose a method to design adaptively the quantization table using spectrum analysis. Second, because medical images have higher pixel depth than natural images do, we propose a method to design Huffman table which considers the probability distribution feature of symbols. Simulation results show the improved performance compared to the quantization table and the adjusted Huffman table of JPEG standard.

A set of modal parameters of a stay-cable have been extracted fi:on a moving picture captured by a digital camera supported by shaking hands. It is hard to identify the center of targets attached on the cable surface from the blurred cable motion image, because of the high speed motion of cable, low sampling frequency of camera, and the shaking effect of camera. This study proposes a multi-template matching algorithm to resolve such difficulties. In addition, a sensitivity-based system identification algorithm is introduced to extract the natural frequencies and damping ratios from the ambient cable vibration data. Three sets of vibration tests are conducted to examine the validity of the proposed algorithms. The results show that the proposed technique is pretty feasible for extracting modal parameters from the severely shaking motion pictures.
Companies desire to increase total profits. Consumer's buying behavior depends on the nature of the product just like look, touch, and feel of fabric in apparel shopping on-line with Quick Response based mass-customization. The purpose of this study is to investigate the consumer's texture sensibility from textile image under on-line environment in order to give the direction for marketing strategy in apparel ebusiness. Total 8 kinds of textile swatches representing each of 8 texture-sensibility-axes were selected for this research on the basis of finding in previous studies. The analyses of 60 questionnaires were conducted by frequency, mean, and standard deviation using SPSS 10.0. The results of this research were as follows: Under on-line environment, consumers recognized Homespun as natural, strong, and warm texture sensibility, but not as glossy, and transparent. Oxford was recognized by consumers as refreshing, and plain texture. Consumers recognized Muslin as flat and refreshing, Melton not as transparent but as warm, strong, dense, and natural, Habutae as thin, transparent, refreshing, flat, glossy, and soft, Linen as sandy, Suede not as transparent but as strong, and warm, and Terry as warm, and dense.
Relative DNA contents in some harmful algae were measured using DAPI staining and image analysis system. This method was useful to identify some morphologically similar species and isolates from harmful algal blooms (HABs). In exponential phase, Prorocentrum micans had higher relative DNA content (RD) of $1.83\pm0.52$ than any other isolates, followed by Cochlodinium polykrikoides $(1.10\pm0.46)$ Alexandrium tamarense $(0.93\pm0.32)$ Gyrodinium impudicum $(0.56\pm0.17)$, Scrippsiella trochoidea $(0.41\pm0.26)$ and P. minimum$(0.05\pm0.01)$. When they were fixed with Lugol's solution, it was difficult to d,iscern C. polykrikoides from G. impudicum under the light microscope, but the DNA contents were quite different in two species. C. polykrikoides contained about twice as much RD as G. impudicum under the same culture conditions and exponential phase. DAPIstained DNA feature in C. polykrikodes showed concentrated in the peripheral part of the cell, but in G. impudicum showed a compact structure in the central part. Although A. tamarense and S. trochoidea were morphologically similar under the light microscope, nuclear DNA content of A. tamarense was twice as much as that of S. trochoidea.
This study was intended to investigate effects of building school forests on elementary school students, including changes in mental image of school, attitude toward nature and forest, and awareness of their relationship with school forest. The total number of 770 drawings and 1,124 writings were collected to be analyzed from three elementary schools. The results showed that there were significant differences between two student groups, respectively forest school group versus non-forest school group, in their mental image of school. For instance, more often observed in the drawings of forest school group students than their counterparts were natural and human elements, activities associated with nature, and natural or human elements located at central area. Also, more frequently found in the writings of forest school group students than their counterparts were letter-style sentences, stories about school forests, inherent values on nature and forest, and curiosity regarding the nature. These results seem to indicate that in order to materialize educational value of school forests, practical workshops for teachers need to be held as soon as possible and new activity models for students should be developed. In addition to that, long-term research on effectiveness of school forest have to be conducted to a number of schools.
