  • This paper deals with the buckling and vibration analysis of plate with a hole. We knew that in this paper, as aspect ratio rises in design parameter, the buckling strength and the natural frequency of laminated composite plate decrease and as diameter of hole for width of plate rises, the buckling strength decrease but the natural frequency increase. Also this paper compared the CFRP laminated composit plate with the hybrid composite plate, and proposed that the hybrid composite plate is stronger than the CFRP composite plate.

  • The degree of deviation from the orthogonality relations of the actual ship's natural modes and its effects on the vibration responses are numerically investigated. The results show that, for the practical application of the modal analysis, it is not an essential requirement in utilization of the expansion theorem to assume the added mass being constant regardless of the mode shapes, or to take the dry hull's natural modes. That is, it is more reasonable to take the actual ships natural modes as the set of the normal modes and to get the solution of the normal coordinates equation by neglecting both the inertia coupling and the stiffeness coupling.

  • In order to execute efficiently the free vibration analysis of 2-dimensional structures like plate structures, the author developed the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method. This method is based on the combination of the modeling techniques in the FEM and the transfer technique of the stiffness coefficient in the transfer stiffness coefficient method. Numerical results of the simply supported and the elastic supported rectangular plates showed that the present method can be successfully applied to the free vibration analysis of plate structures on a personal computer. We confirmed that, in the case of analyzing the free vibration of rectangular plate structures, the present method is superior to the FEM from the viewpoint of computation time and storage.

  • A method for the vibration analysis of curved beam conveying fluid with uniform velocity was presented. The dynamics of curved beam is based on the inextensible theory. Both in-plane motion and out-of-plane motion of curved beam were discussed. The finite element method was formulated to solve the governing equations. The natural frequencies calculated by the presented method were compared with those by analytical solution, straight beam theories and Nastran. As the velocity of fluid becomes larger, the results by straight beam model became different from those by curved beam model. And it was shown that the curved beam element should be used to predict the critical velocity of fluid exactly. The influence of fluid velocity on the frequency response function was also discussed.

  • Vibrational analysis is presented for a visual alignment system of nano-imprint process in this study. For a nano-imprinting equipment, the visual alignment system is one of the essential parts in order to align the mold into the target panel. For the precision alignment, the vibration from inside and outside of the vision system should be avoided, and the elimination of the vibration should be considered in the design process of the visual alignment design. In this work, vibrational characteristics for the vision system frame is analyzed and topology optimization of a frame section area is carried out. With the results of the analysis, a new frame design are suggested. Design consideration for constructing a visual alignment system in view of optimal design is also discussed.

  • An analytical method for the hydroelastic vibration of a vessel composed of an upper annular plate and a lower circular plate is developed by the Rayleigh-Ritz method. The two plates are clamped along a rigid cylindrical vessel wall. It is assumed that the fluid bounded by a rigid cylindrical vessel is incompressible and non-viscous. The wet mode shape of the plates is assumed as a combination of the dry mode shapes of the plates. The fluid motion is described by using the fluid displacement potential and determined by using the compatibility conditions along the fluid interface with the plate. Minimizing the Rayleigh quotient based on the energy conservation gives an eigenvalue problem. It is found that the theoretical results can predict well the fluid-coupled natural frequencies comparing with the finite element analysis result.

  • A vibration analysis for a rotating cantilever beam with the tapered cross section is presented in this study. The stiffness changes due to the stretching caused by centrifugal inertia forces when a tapered cantilever beam rotates about the axis perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. When the cross section of cantilever beam are assumed to decrease constantly, the mass and stiffness also change according to the variation of the thickness and width ratio of a tapered cantilever beam. Such phenomena result in variations of natural frequencies and mode shapes. Therefore it is important to the equations of motion in order to be obtained accurate predictions of these variations. The equations of motion of a rotating tapered cantilever beam are derived by using hybrid deformation variable modeling method and numerical results are obtained along with the angular velocity and the thickness and width ratio.

  • In this paper, the goal of optimization design is efficiency increase and vibration optimization. For this purpose, shape optimization design was performed using Quasi-Newton method, which is one of optimization techniques, and it was verified through finite element analysis In addition, modal analysis of the stator was performed to estimate the natural frequency. through the vibration experiment, the vibration was verified for cogging torque and RMF analysis. Finally, optimal and basic models were compared and analyzed for efficeincy characteristics.
