Differentially Expressed Genes Related to Cold-resistance in Barley (Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Nagaoka)

  • To investigate genes related to vernalization and cold- resistance in barley (Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Nagaoka), differentially expressed genes were identified from cold-resistant barley leaves with suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) and Northern blot analyses. The nucleotide and the deduced amino acid sequences of the putative gene products were compared. The bvrn-7 showed high homology(84%) with gene related to vernalization, and the bvrn-3, bvrn-12, bvrn-28, bvrn-29 and bvrn-36 related to cold-resistant genes had high identity of 88~98% with low temperature-induced genes. The results indicate that the 6 genes were closely related to vernalization and cold-resistance during low temperature treatment.

Ultrasonically Assisted Grinding for Mirror Surface Finishing of Dies with Electroplated Diamond Tools

  • This paper describes ultrasonically assisted grinding used to obtain a glossy surface quickly and precisely. High-quality surfaces are required for plastic injection molding dies used in the production of plastic parts such as dials for cellular phones. Traditionally, in order to finish the dies, manual polishing by a skilled worker has been required after the machining processes, such as electro discharge machining (EDM), which leaves an affected layer, and milling, which leaves tooling marks. However, manual polishing causes detrimental geometrical deviations of the die and consumes several days to finish a die surface. Therefore, a machining process for finishing dies without manual polishing to improve the surface roughness and form accuracy would be extremely valuable. In this study, a 3D positioning machine equipped with an ultrasonic spindle was used to conduct grinding experiments. An electroplated diamond tool was used for these experiments. Generally, diamond tools cannot grind steel because of excessive wear as a result of carbon atoms diffusing into bulk steel and chips. However, ultrasonically assisted grinding can achieve a fine surface (roughness Rz of $0.4{\mu}m$) on die steel without severe tool wear. The final aim of this study is to realize mirror surface grinding for injection molding dies without manual polishing. To do this, it is necessary to fabricate an electroplated diamond tool with high form accuracy and low run-out. This paper describes a tool-making method for high precision grinding and the grinding performance of a self-electroplated tool. The ground surface textures, tool performance and tool life were investigated A ground surface roughness Rz of 0.14 um was achieved Our results show that the spindle speed, feed rate and cross feed affected the surface texture. One tool could finish $5000mm^2$ of die steel surface without any deterioration of the ground surface roughness.

일본 Nagaoka 육상 대수층에서 시간차 $CO_2$ 물리검층으로부터 $CO_2$ 포화도의 추정 (Estimation of $CO_2$ saturation from time-lapse $CO_2$ well logging in an onshore aquifer, Nagaoka, Japan)

  • 일본 최초의 파일럿 규모의 $CO_2$ 지중저장 프로젝트가 Niikgata 현 Nagaoka 시 근처 육상 염수 대수층에서 착수되었고 시간차 물리검층이, 주입된 $CO_2$의 도착과 저류층내의 $CO_2$ 포화도를 평가하기 위해 관측정들에서 실시되었다. $CO_2$는 20-40톤/일 의 속도로 1,110m 심도에 위치한 얇은 투수층에 주입되었다. 2003년 7월에서 2005년 1월까지 주입된 $CO_2$의 총량은 10,400 톤이다. 파일럿 규모의 시험은 3 개의 관측정들에서 시간차 물리검층을 수행함으로써 다공성 사암 저류층 내에서의 $CO_2$ 유동에 대한 이해를 높였다. 관측정 OB-2 에서 fiberglass 케이싱을 넣기 전과 넣은 후의 중성자 검층의 비교는 대상층 내에서 좋은 일치를 보였고 저류층 내에서 셰일 부피의 농도가 높을수록 두 물리검층 결과들 사이의 차이도 커졌다. 확인가능한 $CO_2$ 는 전자유도검층, 음파검층, 중성자검층에 의해 발견되었다. 음파검층으로부터 P 파 속도의 감소가 Nagaoka 현장에서 채취한 코아 시료에 대한 실험실 측정과 매우 잘 일치함을 확인하였다 세 개의 관측정 중 두 개에서 $CO_2$ 가 확인된 후, 음파 검층의 P파 속도와 추정된 $CO_2$ 포화도의 변화 추이를 성공적으로 맞출 수 있었다. 음파 속도의 시간변화 부합 결과는 sweep 효율성이 약 40%였음을 제시한다. 전기비저항에 대한 $CO_2$ 의 작은 영향으로 인하여 저류층이 부분적으로 포화되었을 때 전자유도검층에서는 작은 변화를 보여준다. 또한 $CO_2$ 부존층에서 $CO_2$의 포화도는 $CO_2$ 주입의 일시 중지 시에도 반응함을 발견하였다.

  • In this study, the effectiveness of the method for the promotion council to make rehabilitation community development plan with rural villages to continue community development is investigated in Ota-district, which is affected by chuetu earthquake. Initially, Ota-district made the acting contents of the plan based on the village's request, which is considered resident life and problems in village. Next, Ota-district made the vision of plan based on the acting contents. This plan procedure has been effective to compliment the village community facilities and running on village event, in addition to setting the village's community to continue to manage community facilities and event. As a result, this way has helped good management of village event using the facilities and interchanging among residents. Also, the use of acting contents by request of the promotion council and village's community, while respecting both, has been effective in that the promotion council assists the village event after the rehabilitation community development plan is finished.
