가임기 여성의 규칙적 운동 및 운동종류에 따른 대사증후군 간의 관련성 (The Association between Regular Physical Activity Types And Metabolic Syndrome in Fertile Women)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 가임기 여성의 규칙적 운동 및 운동의 종류에 따른 대사증후군 간의 관련성을 파악하여 효과적인 대사증후군 예방 및 관리 중재 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구는 제7기 3차년도 국민건강영양조사 원시자료(KNHANES VII-3, 2018년)를 이용하여 만 19세 이상 가임기 여성 4172명을 대상으로 시행하였으며, 규칙적 운동의 종류에 따른 대사증후군 구성요소의 차이는 복합표본 t검정으로, 규칙적 운동의 종류가 영향을 미치는 대사증후군의 유병 위험은 복합표본 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석으로 분석하였다. 가임기 여성의 대사증후군 유병률은 3.1%(128명)이었으며 가임기 여성 중 규칙적 운동 실천군은 1979명(46.5%)이었다. 가임기 여성의 규칙적 운동 실천군은 미실천군과 비교하여 다섯 가지 대사증후군 구성요소 중 수축기 혈압(p =.002), 허리둘레(p <.001)와 공복혈당(p =.007)가 상대적으로 낮았으며 고밀도콜레스테롤(p <.001)는 상대적으로 높았다. 규칙적 운동 중 규칙적 근력운동 실천군은 규칙적 근력운동 미실천군과 비교하여 수축기 혈압(p <.001), 이완기 혈압(p =.005), 허리둘레(p <.001), 공복혈당(p <.001)과 중성지방(p =.015) 모두 상대적으로 낮았고 고밀도콜레스테롤(p <.001)은 상대적으로 높았다. 대사증후군에 영향을 미치는 혼란 변수들을 통제한 후, 규칙적 운동 실천군(유병교차비 0.59, 95% 신뢰구간 0.35-0.98, p =.040)과 규칙적 근력운동 실천군(유병교차비 0.34, 95% 신뢰구간 0.14-0.80, p =.013)은 각각 미실천군과 비교하여 대사증후군 유병위험이 낮게 나타났다. 그러므로 규칙적 운동은 가임기 여성의 대사증후군 유병 위험을 낮추는 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있으며, 가임기 여성의 대사증후군 예방 및 관리를 위한 운동 중재 개발 시 근력운동을 포함할 필요가 있음을 제언한다.

근적외선분광법을 이용한 수입건초의 Ca과 P 함량 예측 (Predicting Calcium and Phosphorus Concentrations in Imported Hay by near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy)

  • 본 연구는 근적외선분광법을 활용한 조사료의 Ca과 P 함량의 분석 가능성을 검토하고 예측 정확성이 높은 검량식을 개발하기 위하여 전국 건초 수입상, TMR 회사와 축산 농가에서 수집한 수입 화본과와 두과 목건초 392점 중에서 무작위로 126점을 선택하여 검량식 개발에 이용하였다. 선택된 시료는 시료측정 전처리 방법을 생시료 처리와 건조분쇄 처리구로 나누어 근적외선 스펙트라를 측정하고 근적외선 파장대역을 가시영역, 근적외선, 전파장영역으로 구분하여 검량식을 개발하여 예측 정확성을 평가하였다. 수입건초의 Ca과 P 함량에 대한 예측 정확성은 시료 전처리 방법과 파장대역별에 따라 다양하게 나타났으며, 시료전처리 방법은 건조하여 분쇄하는 방법과 파장대역별로는 근적외선 파장(1,100~2,500 nm)대역에서 예측 정확성이 높게 나타났다. 수입건초의 Ca 함량 예측 정확성은 근적외선 파장대역에서 건조분쇄 측정이 SEC 292.3 mg/kg(R2=0.99)와 SECV 468.6 mg/kg(R2=0.98)로 가장 정확한 예측능력을 나타냈다. 수입건초의 P 함량은 근적외선 파장대역에서 건조분쇄 측정이 SEC 204.4 mg/kg(R2=0.91)과 SECV 224.7 mg/kg(R2=0.89)로 가장 정확한 예측능력을 나타냈다. 이상의 결과를 종합해보면 근적외선분광법을 이용하여 조사료의 주요 광물질인 Ca과 P 함량을 신속하고 정확하게 분석이 가능하였으며, 시료 측정시 건조하여 분쇄하는 전처리 방법과 근적외선 파장대역에서 검량식을 개발하는 것이 예측 정확성이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

고도비만 환자 대상 한의 비만 상담을 포함한 한의치료의 체중 감량 효과: 후향적 차트 리뷰 (Effect of Korean Medicine Treatment Including Korean Medicine Counselling on Weight Loss in Patients with Morbid Obesity: A Retrospective Chart Review)

  • Objectives: We conducted a retrospective chart review to investigate the effects of Korean Medicine (KM) treatment on weight loss in patients with morbid obesity (body mass index [BMI]≥30 kg/m2) and to compare the effects of KM counseling and non-counseling on weight loss. Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review of patients with morbid obesity who received KM treatment for at least 1 month. We evaluated the effects of KM treatment on body weight, BMI, body fat, fat mass, EuroQol-5D, and the Korean version of the obesity-related quality of life scale (KOQOL). We also assessed the liver and kidney functions, and adverse events. We performed a comparative analysis between the counseling and non-counseling groups. Results: A total of 37 patients who underwent 4 weeks of KM treatment involving Wolbi-tang, electroacupuncture, and KM counseling were included in this study. Twenty-one patients were assigned to the counseling group and sixteen patients to the non-counseling group. There was a significant decrease in weight, BMI, fat mass, and KOQOL (P<0.05) with improvements in total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides. The counseling group had a greater reduction in body weight, BMI, body fat, and fat mass compared to the non-counseling group, although it was not significant. In the BMI below 35 (n=25), the reduction ratio of body weight, body fat mass, and body fat was higher in the counseling group than in the non-counseling group; additionally, body fat decreased significantly in counseling group (P<0.05). No severe adverse effects were observed. Conclusion: KM treatment could be effective for weight loss, especially in patients with morbid obesity, KM counseling could also be a good tool for weight loss, typically in patients with BMI<35 kg/m2.

MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit를 활용한 개 치주염의 임상적 평가 (Clinical assessment of periodontitis in dogs using the MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit: An in vivo study)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 개 치주염 평가에서 MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit의 임상적 유용성을 판단하기 위해 실시하였다. 연구방법: 개 61두를 공시하여 품종, 연령(개월), 성별, 체중, 질병 유무, 임상적 치주염 단계를 수의 임상 진단 후 상악 왼쪽 전구치의 치태를 채취하여 MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit를 이용하여 진단검사를 수행하였다. 연구결과: 대상 개 61두 중 건강한 개는 31두, 치주염 개는 30두였고, 치주염은 젊은 개보다 나이 든 개에게서 더 흔하게 나타났다. MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit의 양성 평균 73.3%, 음성 평균 80.7%의 민감도를 보였고, 치주염의 심각도와 높은 상관관계를 확인하였으며, 그 결과 MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit는 개 치주염 평가에 유용한 진단검사 방법임을 확인하였다. 결론: MiriChekTM Oral Bacter test kit와 같은 새로운 진단 보조 기구의 활용은 개에게서 발생하는 치주질환 진단의 신뢰성과 정확성을 높일 것으로 판단된다.

Does dexmedetomidine combined with levobupivacaine in inferior alveolar nerve blocks among patients undergoing impacted third molar surgery control postoperative morbidity?

  • Background: Postoperative analgesia (POA) is an important determinant of successful treatment. Dexmedetomidine (DEX) has recently gained attention as a promising adjuvant to local anesthetics (LA). The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of levobupivacaine (LB) as an adjuvant during inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) in the extraction of lower impacted third molars (LITM). Methods: A prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, triple-blind, parallel-arm, and clinical study was performed on 50 systemically healthy participants who required removal of an asymptomatic LITM. Using a 1:1 distribution, the participants were randomized into two groups (n = 25). Group L (control group) received 1.8 mL of 0.5% LB and 0.2 mL normal saline (placebo) and Group D (study group) received a blend of 1.8 mL of 0.5% LB and 0.2 mL (20 ㎍) DEX. The primary outcome variable was the duration of POA and hemodynamic stability, and the secondary variable was the total number of analgesics required postoperatively for up to 72 h. The participants were requested to record the time of rescue analgesic use and the total number of rescue analgesics taken. The area under the curve was plotted for the total number of analgesics administered. The pain was evaluated using the visual analog scale. Data analysis was performed using paired students and unpaired t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test, and receiver operating characteristic analysis. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: The latency, profoundness of anesthesia, and duration of POA were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The differences between mean pain scores at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 h were found to be significant (each P = 0.0001). Fewer analgesics were required by participants in group D (2.12 ± 0.33) than in L (4.04 ± 0.67), with a significant difference (P = 0.0001). Conclusion: Perineurally administered LA with DEX is a safe, effective, and therapeutic approach for improving latency, providing profound POA, and reducing the need for postoperative analgesia.

Zinc Deficiency Elevates Fecal Protein, But Not Electrolyte and Short-Chain Fatty Acid, Levels in Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli-Induced Diarrhea in Rats

  • Purpose: To determine the effect of zinc deficiency on fecal protein, electrolyte, and short-chain fatty acid levels in both heat-stable (ST) and heat-labile (LT) enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC)-induced diarrhea in rats. Methods: Albino rats, weighing 100 to 150 g, were divided into 2 groups, with 15 animals each: non-zinc and zinc-deficient. These two groups were sub-divided into three sub-groups with five rats each: control (saline); LT-ETEC; and ST-ETEC. Sodium phytate (30 mmol/L) was added to the animals' water to induce zinc deficiency, while diarrhea was induced using 5×109 ETEC cells/mL. Fecal protein levels were estimated using the Bradford method, while sodium and potassium levels were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Short-chain fatty acids were measured using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results: Among the non-zinc and zinc-deficient groups, there were significant increases (p=0.04), (p=0.03) in fecal protein concentrations (mg/mL) in the LT-ETEC- (4.50±0.33), (6.50±0.26) and ST-ETEC- (3.85±0.19), (5.98±0.32) induced groups compared to the control groups (2.60±0.52), (3.50±0.11) respectively. Fecal sodium and potassium levels (mg/L) were significantly (p=0.029) increased in non-zinc-deficient rats induced with LT-ETEC (9.35±0.95, 1.05±0.48), and ST-ETEC (9.96±1.02, 1.21±0.45) compared with the control group (8.07±0.44, 0.47±0.17) but the increase were not statistically significant (p=0.059) in the zinc deficient rat groups. Fecal acetate and propionate levels (mg/g) significantly (p=0.032) increased when induced with LT-ETEC and ST-ETEC in non-zinc and zinc-deficient groups compared with the control groups. Conclusion: Zinc deficiency among rats with ETEC-induced diarrhea elevated fecal protein loss but may not have an effect on fecal sodium, potassium and short-chain fatty acid levels.

Maternal nutrition altered embryonic MYOD1, MYF5, and MYF6 gene expression in genetically fat and lean lines of chickens

  • Objective: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effects of daily feed intake during the laying period on embryonic myogenic differentiation 1 (MYOD1), myogenic factor 5 (MYF5), and myogenic factor 6 (MYF6) gene expression in genetically fat and lean lines of chickens. Methods: An experiment in a 2×2 factorial design was conducted with two dietary intake levels (100% and 75% of nutrition recommendation) and two broiler chicken lines (fat and lean). Two lines of hens (n = 384 for each line) at 23th week of age were randomly divided into 4 treatments with 12 replicates of 16 birds. The experiment started at 27th week of age (5% egg rate) and ended at 54th week of age. Hatched eggs from the medium laying period were collected. Real time polymerase chain reaction analysis was used to analyse the MYOD1, MYF5, and MYF6 mRNA levels of E7, E9, E11, E13, and E15 body tissues and E17, E19, and E21 chest and thigh muscle samples. Results: The results indicated that there were significant effects of line, dietary intake, and interactions between them on MYOD1, MYF5, and MYF6 gene mRNA expression levels in embryonic tissues. Low daily feed intake did not change the expression trend of MYOD1 mRNA in either line, but changed the peak values, especially in lean line. Low daily feed intake altered the trend in MYF5 mRNA expression level in both lines and apparently delayed its onset. There was no apparent effect of low daily feed intake on the trends of MYF6 mRNA expression levels in either line, but it significantly changed the values on many embryonic days. Conclusion: Maternal nutrient restriction affects myogenesis and is manifested in the expression of embryonic MYOD1, MYF5, and MYF6 genes. Long term selection for fat deposition in broiler chickens changes the pattern and intensity of myogenesis.

  • This study was conducted to prepare braised product with soy sauce (BP), rose gratin (RG) and white mousse (WM) using Japanese Spanish mackerel Scombermorus niphonius as senior-friendly seafoods with different physical and nutritional properties and to examine their quality characteristics. The hardness of BP, RG and WM were 428.0×103, 46.9×103 and 16.0×103 N/m2, respectively. The nutritional values of BP, RG and WM are 17.8, 9.1 and 18.5 g, respectively, for protein; 11.86, 23.32 and 13.35 ㎍ RAE, respectively, for vitamin A; 1.27, 0.49 and 0.17 ㎍, respectively, for vitamin D; 45.21, 12.79, and 35.54 mg, respectively, for vitamin C; 0.17, 0.13 and 0.23 mg, respectively, for riboflavin; 4.28, 2.94 and 3.65 mgNE, respectively, for niacin; 19.6, 104.0 and 48.1 mg, respectively, for Ca; 441.6, 271.1 and 250.1 mg, respectively, for K; 0.20, 0.80 mg and undetection, respectively, for dietary fiber. Escherichia coli was undetected in all the products. These results indicated that the products be classified as steps 1 for BP, step 2 for RG and step 3 for WM of senior-friendly seafoods based on the KS, and as nutritional and physical properties-improved senior-friendly seafoods based on the Food Code.

불검출 자료를 포함한 작업환경측정 자료의 분석 방법 비교 (A Comparison of Analysis Methods for Work Environment Measurement Databases Including Left-censored Data)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to suggest an optimal method by comparing the analysis methods of work environment measurement datasets including left-censored data where one or more measurements are below the limit of detection (LOD). Methods: A computer program was used to generate left-censored datasets for various combinations of censoring rate (1% to 90%) and sample size (30 to 300). For the analysis of the censored data, the simple substitution method (LOD/2), β-substitution method, maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method, Bayesian method, and regression on order statistics (ROS)were all compared. Each method was used to estimate four parameters of the log-normal distribution: (1) geometric mean (GM), (2) geometric standard deviation (GSD), (3) 95th percentile (X95), and (4) arithmetic mean (AM) for the censored dataset. The performance of each method was evaluated using relative bias and relative root mean squared error (rMSE). Results: In the case of the largest sample size (n=300), when the censoring rate was less than 40%, the relative bias and rMSE were small for all five methods. When the censoring rate was large (70%, 90%), the simple substitution method was inappropriate because the relative bias was the largest, regardless of the sample size. When the sample size was small and the censoring rate was large, the Bayesian method, the β-substitution method, and the MLE method showed the smallest relative bias. Conclusions: The accuracy and precision of all methods tended to increase as the sample size was larger and the censoring rate was smaller. The simple substitution method was inappropriate when the censoring rate was high, and the β-substitution method, MLE method, and Bayesian method can be widely applied.

살 오징어(Todarodes pacificus) 간췌장 유래 Aminopeptidase 활성획분에 의해 쓴맛이 개선된 멸치 조미소스의 제조 및 식품특성 (Preparation and Food Characteristics of Seasoned Anchovy Sauce with Improved Bitterness by Treatment of Aminopeptidase Active Fraction Derived from Common Squid Todarodes pacificus Hepatopancreas)

  • This study investigated the preparation of seasoned anchovy sauce (SAS) and its functional characteristics by using aminopeptidase active fractions (AAFs) derived from squid Todarodes pacificus hepatopancreas as a bitter taste improver. As the base of the SAS, a hydrolysate (AAAH) prepared by continuously treating raw anchovies with Alcalase-AAF was used. The high-performance liquid chromatography profile of the AAAH suggested that the action of AAFs decreased the hydrophobicity of the N-terminal peptide related to bitterness in the protein hydrolysates. SAS was prepared by blending with the AAAH and other ingredients. The crude protein (2.5%), carbohydrates (18.4%), amino acid-nitrogen (1,325.1 mg/100 mL), and total free and released amino acids (FRAAs, 700.2 mg/100 mL) of SAS were higher than those of commercial anchovy sauce (CAS). Sensory evaluation revealed that SAS was superior to CAS in flavor, color, and taste. The main FRAAs of SAS were glycine (16.8%), alanine (13.2%), glutamic acid (7.8%), and leucine (7.3%). The amino acids that had a major influence on the taste according to the SAS taste values were glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine, and histidine. The angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitory (2.21 mg/mL) and antioxidant activities (3.58 mg/mL) of SAS were superior to those of CAS.
