소결조제 Li2CO3 첨가에 따른 저온소결(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 세라믹스의 압전 및 유전 특성 (Piezoelectric and Dielectric Properties of Low Temperature Sintering (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 Ceramics according to Sintering Aid Li2CO3)

  • $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_3$ (NKN) ceramics doped with $Li_{2}CO_3$ as sintering aids were manufactured in order to develop the low temperature sintering ceramics for piezoelectric device. The sintering aids were proved to lower the sintering temperature of doped NKN ceramics due to the effect of $Na_{2}CO_{3}-Li_{2}CO_3$ liquid phase. All the specimens showed the orthorhombic phase without secondary phase. And also, the piezoelectric properties of specimens were improved with increasing $Li_{2}CO_3$ contents. At sintering temperature of $930^{\circ}C$, the density, electromechanical coupling factor (kp), mechanical quality factor (Qm) and dielectric constant(${\epsilon}_{\gamma}$), piezoelectric constant of 0.3 wt.% $Li_{2}CO_3$ added specimen showed the optimum values of $4.255 g/cm^3$, 0.37, 234, 309, 136 pC/N, respectively.

  • In this paper, in order to develop excellent composition ceramics for a piezoelectric energy- harvesting device, we synthesized $0.99(Na_{0.52}\;K_{0.443}\;Li_{0.037})(Nb_{0.883}\;Sb_{0.08}\;Ta_{0.037})O_3$ + $0.01(Sr_{0.95}Ca_{0.05})TiO_3$ + $0.3\;wt%\;Bi_2O_3\;+\;0.3\;wt%\;Fe_2O_3\;+\;0.3\;wt%\;CuO$ (abbreviated as NKN-SCT) ceramics with different sintering times, using the ordinary solid-state reaction method. The effect of sintering time on the microstructure and piezoelectric properties was investigated. The ceramics with the sintering time of 7 h have the optimum values of the piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$), piezoelectric voltage constant ($g_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient (kp), mechanical quality factor (Qm), and dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$): $d_{33}=314[pC/N]$, $g_{33}=20.07[10^{-3}mV/N]$, kp = 0.442, Qm = 93, ${\varepsilon}r=1,768$, all being suitable for a piezoelectric energy-harvesting device.

  • PZT 세라믹은 우수한 유전 및 압전특성을 갖고 있어 변압기, 센서 및 엑츄에이터 등에 널리 응용되고 있다. 그러나, 우수한 특성에도 불구하고 PZT세라믹스의 소결시 PbO의 높은 유독성 및 휘발로 인하여 환경오염을 야기 시킨다. 그러므로 PbO로 구성된 세라믹을 대체하기 위한 우수한 압전특성을 가진 비납계 세라믹스 개발이 연구의 주류를 이루고 있다. 그 중 비납계 NKN와 BZT는 대체물질로 많이 관심을 받고 있다. 이는 일반적인 NKN조성은 우수한 압전성과 높은 큐리온도를 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라, BZT조성의 Zr성분이 큐리온도를 낮추거나 유전특성을 졸게 하여 유전율 곡선을 완화하게 하는 특징이 있다. 하지만 NKN은 $1140^{\circ}C$이상의 소결온도에서 K의 휘발특성으로 인해 소성 후에도 주변의 수분을 흡수하는 조해성이 발생하는 문제가 발생한다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 낮은 온도에서 NKN계 세라믹스의 밀도를 증가시킬 뿐만 아니라, 우수한 유전 및 압전특성을 갖는 세라믹스를 제조하고자 비납계 $0.94(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_3-0.06Ba(Zr_{0.05}Ti_{0.95})O_3$ (NKN-BZT)의 조성을 사용하였고 소결조제로는 $MnO_2$, NiO, $Bi_2O_3$, ZnO, $Li_2CO_3$, CuO등을 변화주어 유전 및 압전 특성을 알아보았다.

$MnO_2$ 첨가량에 따른 비납계 (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)$O_3$ 세라믹스의 전기적특성 (Electrical properties of lead free (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb,Ta)$O_3$ ceramics with $MnO_2$ addition)

  • Electrical properties and microstructure were investigated on the effects of $MnO_2$ and the lead-free $(Na_{0.44}K_{0.52}Li_{0.04})(Nb_{0.83}Sb_{0.07}Ta_{0.1})O_3$ ceramics with the addition of $MnO_2$ were fabricated by a conventional mixed oxide method. A gradual change in the crystal and microstructure was observed with the increase of $MnO_2$ addition. For the NKN-LST-xmol%$MnO_2$ sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$, bulk density increased with the addition of $MnO_2$ and showed maximum value at addition 1.0mol% of $MnO_2$. Curie temperature of the NKN-LST ceramics slightly decreased with adding $MnO_2$. The dielectric constant, piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) increased below 0.25mol% of $MnO_2$ addition, which might be due to the increase in density. The high piezoelectric properties = 145 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor = 0.421 and dielectric constant = 2883 were obtained for the NKN-LST-0.25mol%$MnO_2$ sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 4h.

  • $(Na,K)NbO_3$-based piezoelectric ceramics were synthesized by a solid phase sintering method with various milling solvents. The solvents were varied with acetone, ethanol, and pure water to investigate the effect on the microstructure and electrical properties. NKN ceramics showed the maximum values of the relative density (94%), the mechanical quality factor (Qm: 78) and the electro-mechanical coupling factor ($k_p$: 0.25) at the ethanol solvent. It might mean that a solid phase sintering of the NKN piezoelectrics with a suitable solvent could improve the relative density and the piezoelectric properties.

  • 최근, 비납 또는 납의 함량을 줄인 압전 세라믹에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있고, 그에 따른 여러 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 납을 포함하는 세라믹은 높은 소성온도에서 납의 휘발로 인한 특성저하와 환경오염 등이 문제가 된다는 것을 우리는 익히 알고 있다. 그렇기 때문에 PZT계 세라믹스를 대체할 우수한 특성을 가지는 새로운 비납 세리믹스의 조성개발이 시급하다. 비납계 세라믹스 중에서 NKN계를 바탕으로 하는 세라믹스는 가장 기대되는 재료이다. 일반적인 소성에서 순수한 NKN 세라믹은 가장 높은 압전 $d_{33}$상수가 100 pC/N이 넘지 않는다. 그런데 페로브스카이트 구조로된 NKN세라믹스의 A-site에 $Li^{1+}$이온을 치환하면 압전 특성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 그리고, 압전세라믹에서 분극처리는 필수적인데 분극처리는 압전성을 부여할 뿐 아니라 다른 물성도 변화시킴은 잘 알려져 있다. 그러므로 그에 대한 연구 또한 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 따라서 이번 연구에서는 NKN세라믹스에 $Li_2CO_3$를 소결조제로 첨가하여 시편을 제작하였고, 제작된 시편의 특성을 분극전계에 따라 조사하였다.

(Ba,Ca)SiO3 Glass Frit 첨가에 따른 NKN-BT 세라믹스의 유전 완화 특성 (Dielectric Relaxation Properties of KNN-BT Ceramics with (Ba,Ca)SiO3 Glass Frit)

  • We investigated dielectric relaxation properties of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics by addition (0~0.3 wt%) of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit. All composition of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit showed the same crystallographic properties, coexistence of orthorhombic and tetragonal phase. By increasing addition of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, the Curie temperatures of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were decreased, whereas maximum dielectric constants of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were dramatically increased. Especially the deviations of Curie temperature $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were increased by increasing amount of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, and it indicated that $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit have relaxor characteristics.

  • NKN [(Na,K)NbO3] is a candidate lead-free piezoelectric material to replace PZT [Pb(Zr,Ti)O3]. A single crystal has excellent piezoelectric-properties and its properties are dependent of the crystal orientation direction. However, it is hard to fabricate a single crystal with stoichiometrically stable composition due to volatilization of sodium during the growth process. To solve this problem, a solid solution composition is designed (Na,K)NbO3-Ba(Cu,Nb)O3 and solid state grain growth is studied for a sizable single crystal. Ceramic powders of (Na,K)NbO3-M(Cu,Nb)O3 (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) are synthesized and grain growth behavior is investigated for different temperatures and times. Average normal grain sizes of individual specimens, which are heat-treated at 1,125 ℃ for 10 h, are 6.9, 2.8, and 1.6 ㎛ for M = Ca, Sr, and Ba, respectively. Depending on M, the distortion of NKN structure can be altered. XRD results show that (NKN-CaCuN: shrunken orthorhombic; NKN-SrCuN: orthorhombic; NKN-BaCuN: cubic). For the sample heat-treated at 1,125 ℃ for 10 h, the maximum grain sizes of individual specimens are measured as 40, 5, and 4,000 ㎛ for M = Ca, Sr, and Ba, respectively. This abnormal grain size is related to the partial melting temperature (NKN-CaCuN: 960 ℃; NKN-SrCuN: 971 ℃; NKN-BaCuN: 945 ℃).

  • [ $(Na_{0.5},\;K_{0.5})NbO_3$ ] ceramics were studied as lead free Piezoelectric materials. The addition of CdO were enhanced the sinterability of the NKN ceramics. The $(Na_{0.5},\;K_{0.47}Cd_{0.02})NbO_3$ ceramics show that electromachanical coupling factor($k_p$) is 0.34and mechanical quality factor($O_m$) is 120.

  • Lead oxide-based ferroelectrics are the most widely used materials for piezoelectric actuators, sensors and transducers due to their excellent piezoelectric properties. Considering lead toxicity, there is great interest in developing lead-free piezoelectric materials, which are biocompatible and environmentally friendlier. Recently alkali oxide materials, including sodium - potassium niobate (NKN), have been given attention in view of their ultrasonic application and also as promising candidates for piezoelectric lead-free system. However, it is difficult to sinter such NKN-based materials via conventional sintering process. In this reason, many researchers have investigated hot press, hot isostatic press or spark-plasma sintering of NKN-based ceramics. In this study, as candidates for lead-free piezoelectric materials, dense (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb)$O_3$ systems were developed by conventional sintering process. The microstructures and piezoelectric properties of the (Na,K,Li)(Nb,Sb)$O_3$ systems were investigated as a function of variable compositions. The excellent piezoelectric and electromechanical properties indicate that this system is potentially good candidate as lead-free material for a wide range of electro-mechanical transducer applications.
