  • Many factors influence SF6 insulation and a number of them have been clarified quantitatively. For the next generation of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), quantitative considerations of these factorsare necessary to enhance reliability and to make GIS more compact. Advanced insulation technology this purpose is described.

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) contain limited energy resources and are left in open environments. Since these sensor nodes are self-operated, attacks such as sinkhole attacks are possible as they can be compromised by an adversary. The sinkhole attack may cause to change initially constructed routing paths, and capture of significant information at the compromised node. A localized encryption and authentication protocol (LEAP) has been proposed to authenticate packets and node states by using four types of keys against the sinkhole attack. Even though this novel approach can securely transmits the packets to a base station, the packets are forwarded along the constructed paths without checking the next hop node states. In this paper, we propose the next hop node selection method to cater this problem. Our proposed method evaluates the next hop node considering three factors (i.e., remaining energy level, number of shared keys, and number of filtered false packets). When the suitability criterion for next hop node selection is satisfied against a fix threshold value, the packet is forwarded to the next hop node. We aim to enhance energy efficiency and a detour of attacked areas to be effectively selected Experimental results demonstrate validity of the proposed method with up to 6% energy saving against the sinkhole attack as compared to the LEAP.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of transient and effective impulse impedances for deeply driven grounding electrodes used in soil with high resistivity or in downtown areas. The laboratory test associated with the time domain performance of grounding piles subjected to a lightning stroke current has been carried out using an actual-sized model grounding system. The ground impedances of the deeply driven ground rods and grounding pile under impulse currents showed inductive characteristics, and the effective impulse ground impedance owing to the inductive component is higher than the power frequency ground impedance. Both power frequency ground impedance and effective impulse ground impedance decrease upon increasing the length of the model grounding electrodes. Furthermore, the effective impulse ground impedances of the deeply driven grounding electrodes are significantly amplified in impulse currents with a rapid rise time. The reduction of the power frequency ground impedance is decisive to improve the impulse impedance characteristics of grounding systems.

  • The operation and function of the ports today require new trends and changes in continuous increase of freight and volume of containers as well as complexity of surface transport system. These changes affect future operational systems, Transport equipments and arrangements of comtainer blocks. To achieve an adaptable container port of the next generation. The architectural planning also needs to be changed in accordance with it. We try to probe some problems of current architecture related container ports system and expect some future changes. Finally, We studied adaptable architectural planning trends and methods of indoor and outdoor spaces of operational building, gates etc in container pors of next generation.

  • Korea Meteorological Administration has promoted the next generation urban and rural smart weather service project. The purpose of this project is to provide the necessary information to urban and rural districts by using the subdivided meteorological information. This study attempts to assess the value of the next generation urban and rural smart weather service project by using contingent valuation method. According to estimating result, annual mean willingness to pay per household for the next generation urban and rural smart weather service project is 2,947 won.

  • We examine the adjustment of the semiconvergent angle and current for the miniaturized micro column working at low voltage but producing maximized current. Our study shows that the minimum electron beam sizes are 10 ㎚ for the cold field emitter (CFE) and 20 ㎚ for the thermal field emitter (TFE) at a given condition.
