분류식 하수관거로의 전환시 유입하수의 성상 변화 및 선회와류식 SBR공법의 처리 특성 (Change in Influent Concentration of Domestic Wastewater from Separated Sewer and Biological Nitrogen and Phosphorus Removal of a Full Scale Air-vent SBR)

  • This study was carried out to investigate change in influent concentration of domestic wastewater flowed from a newly constructed separate sewer system (SSS) and biological nutrients removal efficiency of a full scale Air-vent sequential batch reactor (SBR, $600m^3/d$). The average concentration of $BOD_5$, SS, T-N and T-P from SSS were 246.5 mg/L, 231.6 mg/L, 42.974 mg/L, 5.360 mg/L, respectively which corresponds to 2.2times, 1.2times, 1.8times and 2.1times higher than those from the conventional combined sewer system (CSS). The removal efficiency of $BOD_5$, SS, T-N, and T-P for the Air-vent SBR operated with influent from SSS averaged 99.1%, 99.0%, 91.2%, and 93.5%, respectively. Especially the respective nitrogen and phosphorus removal was 15% greater than that of the SBR operated with influent from CSS. Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) was observed in an aerobic reactor(II) as a result of DO concentration gradient developed along the depth by the Air-vent system. In order to achieve T-N removal greater than 90%, the C/N ratio should be over 6.0 and the difference between $BOD_5$ loading and nitrogen loading rate be over 100 kg/day (0.130 kg $T-N/m^3{\cdot}d$). Even with high influent T-P concentration of 5.360 mg/L from SSS (compared with 2.465 mg/L from CSS) T-P removal achieved 93.5% which was 15.5% higher than that of the SBR with influent from CSS. This is probably due to high influent $BOD_5$ concentration from SSS that could provide soluble carbon source to release phosphorus at anaerobic condition. In order to achieve T-P removal greater than 90%, the difference between $BOD_5$ loading and phosphorus loading rate should be over 100 kg /day (0.130 kg $T-N/m^3{\cdot}d$).

암모니아 스트리핑에 미치는 운전인자의 영향 (Effect of Operational Parameters on the Ammonia Stripping)

  • 우리나라의 생활하수는 C/N 비가 낮아서 생물학적인 방법으로 영양염류를 제거하는데 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 외부탄소원의 주입 없이 C/N 비를 높일 수 있는 암모니아 스트리핑에 의해 질소를 제거할 때 공기 공급량, 수리학적 체류시간, pH 등의 운전인자가 질소 제거에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 실험에 이용된 소규모 암모니아 스트리핑 시스템의 규격은 직경이 15 cm, 높이가 150 cm이며 담체의 사용 유무에 따라 AS I 및 AS II의 2개 형태로 구분하였다. 연구 결과 플라스틱 담체를 사용한 AS I의 T-N 제거율이 담체 없이 실험한 AS II에 비해 다소 높았다. 공기량 30 L/min 및 pH 12.5의 동일 실험 조건에서 HRT가 길어질수록 T-N 제거율은 높아졌으며, 36 hr의 같은 HRT 조건에서는 공기공급량이 증가할수록 T-N 제거율이 개선되는 경향을 보였다. 한편 C/N 비가 암모니아 스트리핑에 의해 평균 3.9에서 5.4로 향상되었다.

Chlorella vulgaris를 이용한 양돈폐수 내 영양염류 및 중금속 제거 (Removal of Nutrients and Heavy Metals from Swine Wastewater using Chlorella vulgaris)

  • Bioremediation has been recognized as a suitable alternative to conventional methods of removing contaminants, and it uses fungi, bacteria and microalgae. In contrast to other organisms, microalgae are unique in that they have the ability to perform photosynthesis like plants and to utilize organic/inorganic carbon substrates, in a process called phytoremediation. Microalgae can populate a reaction site rapidly and enhance the bioremediation efficiency. In this study, Chlorella vulgaris was used to evaluate the removal potentials of the nutrients (N and P) and heavy metals (Cu and Zn) from swine wastewater. The optimum growth conditions for Chlorella vulgaris and the removal potentials of N, P, Cu, and Zn from synthetic wastewater using Chlorella vulgaris were investigated. Based on the results, the applicability of this microalga to on-site wastewater treatment was examined. Optimal growth conditions for Chlorella vulgaris were established to be $28^{\circ}C$, a pH of 7, and light and dark cycles of 14:10 h. As the concentrations of the nutrients were increased, the efficiencies of N and P removal efficiencies by Chlorella vulgaris were decreased in the single and binary mixed treatments of the nutrients, respectively. Further, the efficiencies of Cu and Zn removal also decreased as the heavy metals concentrations added were increased, both in the single and binary mixed treatments. In addition, the efficiency of Cu removal was higher than that of Zn removal. Our results indicate that Chlorella vulgaris could be used in treatment plants for the removal of nutrients and heavy metals from swine wastewater.

침지형 membrane을 이용한 생활오수처리 (Municipal Wastewater Treatment by Submerged Membrane Process)

  • The removal characteristic of BOD, COD,T-N, and T-P was investigated in municipal wastewater treatment with anoxic and membrane submerged aerobic reactor. It was found that BOD and COD removal rate were obtained 90% and 92%, respectively, for 90 days operation. BOD and COD loading rate did not affect to the removal efficiency because MLSS concentration in aerobic tank was highly maintained.In the case of first reactor operated with anoxic and second reactor operated as aerobic, T-N, T-P removal rate were obtained 93% and 99% respectively.It was shown that removal efficiency could be maintained stable due to the complete removal of SS and sludge production decreased with increasing of sludge retention time.

간헐폭기식 활성슬러지 공법에 의한 질소, 인 제거 (Removal of N and P by Intermittented Aeration Activated Sludge Process)

  • This study was made for enhanced removal of N and P by intermittented aeration Activated Sludge Process. Experiment were conducted to find the effects of aeration interval and nutrient removal efficiency. When applied aeration interval were 30~60 min, 2~4 h, 4~8 h, organic matter was not affected while phosphorous removal was aeration interval 30~60 min. Also, when applied mixing intensity were 15, 30, 45 and 60 rpm, organic matter was not affected while removal was maximum at 15 rpm. Total nitrogen and phosphorous removal were in the range of 76 and 85%. Density and MLSS of Sludge were in the range of 2.3~2.6 and 7198~7810 mg/l. Release of phosphorous from activated sludge under unaerobic condition was increased as pass time.

Pilot 규모 연속배열형 인공습지의 영양염류 제거효능 규명 및 평가모델 연구 (A Pilot-Scale Study of Multiple Stage of Constructed Wetland Treatment System and Modeling for Nutrient Removal)

  • A pilot study was performed to examine the feasibility of multiple stage of constructed wetland (CW) for nutrient removal. The system is composed of six wetland cells connected with water-ways. The hydraulic of wetland cells is designed as free water surface flow. The treatment capacity was $25m^3d^{-1}$ at HRT of about one day for each cell. The magnitude of nutrient removal was related with the length of wetlands and plant density. Total N and P removal rates were 1353 and $246mg\;m^{-2}d^{-1}$ respectively. The pilot-scale reactor was model as continuous flow system containing contribution of CSTR and PFR typed-reactors. The $k-C^*$ model equation was applied to predict N and P reduction. The result indicated the equation was well guided to estimate reduction of $NO_3-N$ and $PO_4-P$.

하수의 최종 유출수 수질 개선을 위한 침전조 모형실험에 적용한 끈상 미생물접촉재와 미나리의 고도처리효율에 관한 연구 (Advanced Treatment Efficiency of Biological String Media and Oenanthe javanica for Effluent Quality Improvement in the Sedimentation Model Plant)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 미나리와 끈상 미생물접촉재를 이용하여 생활하수의 하수처리장 방류수의 수질 개선을 위함이다. 최종 방류수의 수질을 개선하기 위한 침전조 모형 플랜트를 2개 제작하여 실험하였는데, 하나(Tank 1)는 기존 하수처리장 침전조와 같게 제작 하였으며, 다른 하나의 침전조(Tank 2)는 침전조의 수초섬 상부에는 미나리를 식재하고 하부에는 끈상 미생물 접촉재를 배치하였다. 유기 오염물질인 BOD, 부유고형물질인 SS, 질소 그리고 인에 대한 고도처리 효율을 검증하였다. 실험 결과 Tank 2에서 유출되는 배출수가 Tank 1에서 배출되는 유출수보다 처리 효율이 향상되었다. 처리 효율을 살펴보면, Tank 1보다 Tank 2 유출수의 BOD는 $7.9%{\sim}38.8%$가 향상되었으며, 부유고형 물질인 SS는 $14.3%{\sim}60.0%$ 향상되었다. 부영양화 물질인 T-N은 $9.6%{\sim}31.5%$ 향상되었으며, T-P는 $33.0%{\sim}80.0%$까지 향상되었다. 처리 효율로 판단하면 T-P와 SS 제거효율이 BOD와 T-N보다 높았다.

분산형 빗물관리시설 적용을 위한 수질정화기능 여재 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Soil Media for Water Quality Purification at LID Application)

  • In this study, the water quality purification of new medias which were NPS media, hyugato, mineral stone, charcoal for applying soil media of Integrated Management Practices (IMPs) of Low Impact Development (LID) were evaluated. The influent concentrations of COD, T-N, and T-P were 117.8 mg/L, 17.1 mg/L, and 2.062 mg/L, respectively. The infiltration capacities of NPS media, hyugoto, mineral stone, charcoal, and gravel were $7.1{\times}10m/s$, $7.3{\times}10^{-5}m/s$, $7.9{\times}10^{-5}m/s$, $6.0{\times}10^{-5}m/s$, respectively. All media meet criteria of infiltration capacity as surface soil layer at IMPs which is over $1.0{\times}10^{-5}m/s$. Maximum removal rates of COD, T-N, and T-P occurred at Charcoal with 98 % of COD removal rate, NPS with 78 % of T-N removal rate, and hyugato with 75 % fo T-P removal rate, respectively. For more high removal efficiency of all water quality item, the mixed media which is 4.5(NPS media): 1(charcoal) : 4.5 (hyugato) as volume ratio was evaluated. The infiltration capacity of mixed media was $7.9{\times}10^{-5}m/s$ and met the criteria of infiltration as surface soil layer. The water quality removal efficiencies of mixed media were very high with showing 70 % for COD, 85 % for T-N, and 71 % for T-P. The mixed media could purify the water quality of surface runoff and was recommended to used at the LID site of ground water quality problem.

비점오염원 저감을 위한 봉산 인공습지의 오염물질 정화효율 평가 (Evaluation of Treatment Efficencies of Pollutants in Bongsan Constructed Wetlands for Treating Non-point Source Pollution)

  • 주암호 상수원 상류지역인 송광천에 위치한 봉산 인공습지의 수생태학적 효율 향상을 위한 관리 방안을 제시하기 위하여 시기별, 처리단계별 및 오염물질 부하량별 수처리 효율을 평가하였다. 유입원수의 BOD, SS, T-N 및 T-P의 평균 함량은 $1.87mg\;L^{-1}$, $1.62mg\;L^{-1}$, $11.47mg\;L^{-1}$$4.40mg\;L^{-1}$이었으며, 연평균 처리효율은 BOD, SS, T-N 및 T-P가 각각 26%, 18%, 16% 및 9%로서 전반적으로 처리효율이 낮았으나 유입수 농도가 높아서 오염물질의 제거량은 매우 높은 편이었다. 인공습지 처리단계별 BOD, SS, T-N 및 T-P 변화를 조사한 결과는 모든 항목에서 침강지의 처리효율이 가장 높았고 BOD와 T-P는 습지 II > 습지 I, SS와 T-N은습지 I > 습지 II 순으로 처리효율이 높았다. 인공습지 구성 시스템별 오염물질 부하량에 따른 오염물질 처리량은 BOD는 침강지 > 습지 I > 습지 II, SS는 침강지 > 습지 II > 습지 I, T-N은 습지 I > 침강지 > 습지 II, T-P는 습지 II > 침강지 > 습지 I 순으로 높았다.

Denitrifying PAO와 SBBR-MSBR을 이용한 생물학적영양소제거공정에서 탄소원 절약에 대한 연구 (Evaluation of COD Utilization for Biological Nutrient Removal with dPAO in SBBR-MSBR System)

  • The combined system of sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR) and membrane SBR (MSBR) was operated with sewage to evaluate the COD utilization for biological nutrient removal (BNR). The SBBR was operated for nitrification reactor, while denitrifying PAO (dPAO) was cultivated in MSBR with anaerobic-anoxic operation. In the SBBR and MSBR system, the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) was successfully achieved with higher N removal. The COD utilization in combined SBBR-MSBR system was significantly reduced compared to ordinary BNR (up to 3.1 g SCOD/g (N+P) and 1.6 g SCOD/g (N+P) with different C/N/P ratio). The results suggest that a dPAO process could effectively reduce carbon energy (=COD) requirement. The combination of oxic-SBBR and anaerobic-anoxic MSBR for dPAO utilization could be an attractive alternative to upgrade the process performance in weak sewage.
