Treatment of Cow Manure by Vermicomposting -Effects of population density and C/N ratios of feed on the growth and cast production of the earthworm(Eisenia foetida)- (Vermicompositing에 의한 우분의 처리 -먹이의 탄질율과 사육밀도가 지렁이의 생육과 분립의 생산에 미치는 영향-)

  • This experiment was carried out to the effects of population density and C/N ratios of feed on the growth, reproductive effciency and cast producation of the earthworm(Eisenia foetida). The population densities of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 individuals of the earthworm fed with different C/N ratios of 25, 35, 45 and 55 cow manures were studied in rearing box($6,400cm^3$), and at the fertility stage during a period of 60 days. The results were summarized as follows; The survial rate(SR), increasing rate(IR), reproductive efficiency(RE) and cast production of the earthworms showed highest values in C/N ratio of 25. These results may indicate that C/N ratio of 25 is a very favourable feed for the growth of the earthworms. The survial rate(SR) indicated significant positive correlation with reproductive efficiency(RE) in different C/N ratios of feeds. The survial rate(SR) showed highest values in population densities of $50{\sim}100$ worms/$6,400cm^3(64.0{\sim}128.0cm^3/worm$). On the contrary, increasing rate(IR) tended to decreased with the increased population densities. The survival rate(SR) indicated significant negative correlation with reproductive efficiency(RE) in different population densities of the earthworms. The cast production estimated were $31.6mg{\sim}67.4mg/day/worm$ grown in optimum population densities($50{\sim}100\;worms/6,400cm^3$). The earthworm casting are an excellent soil conditioning material or organic fertilizer sources with a high chemical composition and their physical properties.

Separation of H2 and N2 Gases by PTMSP-NaA Zeolite Composite Membranes (PTMSP-NaA Zeolite 복합막에 의한 수소-질소 기체 분리에 관한 연구)

  • PTMSP-NaA zeolite composite membranes were prepared by adding 0~50 wt% NaA zeolite to PTMSP. The membranes were characterized by FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR, GPC, DSC, TGA, SEM. The permeabilities of $H_2$ and $N_2$ gases through PTMSP-NaA zeolite composite membranes was studied as a function of NaA zeolite contents. According to TGA measurements, when zeolite was inserted into the polymer, weight loss temperature and weight loss wt% of PTMSP-NaA zeolite composite membranes were decreased. Based on SEM observation, NaA zeolite was dispersed in the PTMSP-NaA zeolite composite membrane with the size $2{\sim}5{\mu}m$. The permeability of PTMSP-NaA zeolite composite membranes increased added as NaA zeolite content increased. On the contrary, the selectivity ($H_2/N_2$) of the composite membranes decreased as NaA zeolite content increased. PTMSP-NaA zeolite composite membrane showed better permeability and selectivity ($H_2/N_2$) of $H_2$ and $N_2$ than PTMSP-NaY zeolite composite membrane.

  • This paper analyzes the occurrence and cause of bond wires fusing used in the manufacture of pulsed high power amplifiers. Recently GaN HEMT has been spotlight in the fields of electronic warfare, radar, base station and satellite communication. In order to produce the maximum output power, which is the main performance of the high-power amplifier, optimal impedance matching is required. And the material, diameter and number of bond wires must be determined in consideration of not only the rated current but also the heat generated by the transient current. In particular, it was confirmed that compound semiconductor with a wide energy band gap such as GaN trigger fusing of the bond wire due to an increase in thermal resistance when the design efficiency is low or the heat dissipation is insufficient. This data has been simulated for exothermic conditions, and it is expected to be used as a reference for applications using GaN devices as verified through IR microscope.

  • Michael Reaction을 이용하여 상업적으로 이용 가능한 APS(3-aminopropyltrime thoxysilane)과 AEAPS(N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propy1] ethylenediamine)을 다수의 Michael acceptor(ethyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, acrylamide, 2-cyanoethyl acrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate 그리고 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate)와 반응시켜 10종류의 aminosilane ([3-{N-2-carboethoxyethyl)aminopropyl]triethoxysilane, [3-(N-2-cyanoethyl)aminopropyl] triethoxysilane, [3-(N-di-2-carboethoxyethyl) aminopropyl]triethoxysilane, [3-(N-di-2-cyanoethyl)aminopropyl]triethoxysilane, [3-(N-2-cyanoethoxypropionyl)aminopropyl] triethoxysilane, [3-(N-di-2-cyanoethoxypropionyl)aminopropyl] triethoxysilane, [3-(N-di-2-hydroxyethoxypropionyl) aminopropyl]-triethoxysilane, [3-(N-2-amidoethyl aminopropyl]triethoxysilane, {3-[N-(N-di-2-cyanoethyl)ethyl]aminopropyl)triethoxysilane, {3-[N-(3-trimethoxy-silylpropyl)-2-methylpropionyl]aminopropyl)triethoxysilane 등을 35-70% 수율로 제조하였으며, 이들의 구조는 $^1$H-NMR과 FT-IR spectroscopy를 이용하여 확인하였다.

  • Two derivatives of star shaped compounds based on naphthylamine with symmetric trisubstituted benzene as core, methoxy and ethoxy as end substitutions are synthesized. The synthesized compounds are characterized by UV-visible, FT-IR and NMR spectrometric techniques. The electronic and thermal properties of the compounds are studied using cyclic voltametry (CV) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) respectively. The data's obtained have similarity with the arylamines that have been already used in optoelectronic devices. So these compounds are interesting materials for applications in such devices.

Studies on the Resistance of 'Tong-il' Variety (IR-667) to Brown Planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens STAL (벼멸구에 대한 통일벼(IR-667)의 내충성에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been carried out to investigate the varietal resistance of Tong-il rice variety (IR-667) at the seedling stage to the brown planthopper. Nilaparvata lugens STAL, and further to know the biological effects of the varieties to the insects. The results obtained were as followings; 1. Tong-il variety tested in this experiment was susceptible to the brown planthopper but it seemed to be a little more tolerable than the Japonica varieties which had been recommended in Korea. 2. Tong-il variety (Suwon 213, Suwon 213-1, Suwon 214, and Suwon 215) was highly prefered by brown planthopper for feeding to the Korean recommended varieties Paltal, Jinheung, Akibare, and Shin #2. 3, The resistant varieties Mudgo, Kayama MGL-2, and Karsamba ASD-7 which showed low feeding preference exhibited higher ovipositional preference than the susceptible varieties. Relatively greater number of eggs was recorded on the Tong-il variety (Suwon 213, Suwon 213-1, and Suwon 215) in comparison with the Korean recommended varieties, 4, When the female brown planthopper adults were caged on Tong-il variety (Suwon 214) and the resistant variety Karsamba ASD-7 separately, greater number of eggs were observed on Suwon 214 and less on Karsamba ASD-7, while when two varieties Suwon 214 and Karsamba ASD-7 were given together in the same cage, Karsamba ASD-7 was much more prefered for oviposition to Suwon 214. 5. There was no difference in e99 Periods and their hatchal\bility between the resistant and susceptible varieties, but nymphal periods, rate of adult emergence, longevity of the adult, and its fecundity were significantly different according to the varieties.

  • Effect of tow or three week potassium depression on nutrient contents in two rice varieties, Jinheung (a leading local) and IR 667-Suwon 214 (high yielding tropical line), was investigated at various growth stages in water culture system for the nutritional elucidation of potassium top dressing. According to potassium content, potassium ratio beween leaf blade and leaf sheath plus culm, relative potassium content ($-k/+k{\times}100$) and balance between potassium and other nutrients (K/N or K/Ca+Mg) it could be concluded as follows: 1) Rice plants have three sensitive growth stages to potassium stress in the orther of ear formation stage (20 to 30 days before heading) early tillering (15 to 25 days after transplanting) and at heading. 2) IR 667 is more sensitive to potassium stress than Jinheung, especially in early stage due to lower uptake of potassium. 3) Leaf sheath of IR 667 appears to have a role as potassium reservoir to greater extent than that of Jinheung.

The Geographical Discrimination of Korean and Chinese Soybeans (Glycine max(L.) merrill) Using NMR Relaxation Methods (NMR relaxation 기법을 이용한 한국산과 중국산 대두의 원산지 판별)

  • To discriminate the geographical origin (Korea vs. China) of soybean (Glycine max(L.) merrill) samples (Korean samples n=25, Chinese samples n=24), proximate composition of soybeans and relaxation times were analyzed using low field NMR. Composition results indicate that there are no significant differences in moisture, fat, or ash contents between soybeans. The crude protein content of Korean soybeans, however, was higher than that of Chinese soybeans (p<0.05). The relaxation times of T1-IR (p<0.0001), T1-SR (p<0.0001), and T2-SE (p<0.0086) in Korean soybeans were longer than those in Chinese soybeans. The geographical origin of soybeans could be identified using a canonical discriminant analysis using two relaxation times (T1-IR and T1-SR) with 96% accuracy. Furthermore, in this study, a canonical discriminant analysis using four relaxation times (T1-IR, T1-SR, T2-SE, and T2-CPMG) could discriminate the geographical origin with 100% accuracy. It was possible to identify the geographical origin of Korean and Chinese soybeans using relaxation times from 10 MHz NMR.

  • In this study, PTMSP of high permeability and high molecular weight was synthesized, and PTMSP-PDMS graft copolymer was synthesized from poly [1-(trimethylsily)propyne] (PTMSP) and hydroxy-terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). The PTMSP-PDMS-silica composites were prepared by the addition of 15, 30, or 50 wt% tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) to PTMSP-PDMS graft copolymer by sol-gel process. To investigate the physico-chemical characteristics of PTMSP-PDMS-silica/PEI composite membranes, the analytical methods such as $^1H$-NMR, FT-IR, TGA, XPS, GPC, and SEM have been utilized. The gas permeability and selectivity properties of $H_2,\;O_2,\;N_2,\;CO_2,\;CH_4,\;n-C_4H_{10}$, were evaluated. Permeability of the composite membranes increased as TEOS content and pressure increased. Selectivity of $H_2,\;O_2,\;N_2,\;CO_2,\;CH_4,\;and\;n-C_4H_{10}$, showed the maximum value at 30 wt% of TEOS content and decreased thereafter.

Preparation and Gas Permeation Properties of PDMS-HNT Nanotube Composite Membrane (PDMS-HNT 나노튜브 복합막의 제조와 기체투과 성질)

  • PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane)-HNT (halloysite nanotube) composite membranes were prepared with different amounts tendency of HNT 5, 10, 20 and 30 wt% and rubbery polymer PDMS. The characteristics of these membranes were studied by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, and SEM. Gas permeation experiment were performed under condition of $25^{\circ}C$ and $3kg/cm^2$. Gas permeability of $N_2$, $H_2$, $CH_4$, and $CO_2$ and selectivity were investigated by increasing the amount of HNT contents in the PDMS. In $H_2$, $N_2$, $CH_4$, and $CO_2$ gases, as increasing HNT contents from 0 to 30 wt%, decreasing value of the permeability were observed. The selectivity of ($CO_2/N_2$) was shown in the range of 14 to 44 and the range of selectivity of ($CO_2/CH_4$) was 3.0 to 7.0.
