  • 본 연구는 N스크린 서비스의 이용행태(교차이용, 개인별 단말기 보유량, N스크린 이용을 위한 지불금액, N스크린 이용시간), 콘텐츠 특성(채널의 다양성, VOD의 다양성), 기능적 요인(시스템품질, 인터페이스, 결제시스템), 비용에 대한 이용자의 인식이 이용만족도와 지속이용의사에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. N스크린 유료 경험이 있는 이용자를 대상으로 (N=498), 웹을 통한 설문조사를 한 결과, 이용만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 기능적 요인 중 인터페이스로 나타났으며, 결제시스템, VOD의 다양성, 채널의 다양성, 비용 순으로 유의하게 나타났다. 본 연구는 이용자 차원에서 서비스 만족에 영향을 주는 요인들을 밝혀냄으로써, N스크린과 스마트TV의 활성화를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 의의가 있다.

Determinants of Intention to Use toward N Screen Service for Potential User (N스크린 서비스 잠재적 수용자의 수용의도 영향요인 연구)

  • Using technology acceptance model, this study investigates the factors affecting N-screen service adoption. We collected 435 available answers from potential users through systematic online survey. Results show that self-efficacy and perceived interactivity factors had positive effects on perceived ease of use. In addition, service variety, perceived interactivity, perceived ease of use factors had positive effects on perceived usefulness. Yet social effect factor had negative effect on perceived usefulness. On the other hand, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness had positive effect on the intention of use. In conclusion, to improve the intention to use N-screen service, it is necessary to make users convinced that N-screen service can give customized contents and interactive information regardless of time and place.

  • N스크린 서비스는 하나의 디지털 컨텐츠를 TV, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC나 노트북 등을 통해 일관성 있는 문맥으로 단절 없이 소비할 수 있는 환경을 마련해 준다. 현재 이 서비스는 TV와 모바일 기기의 스마트화, 클라우드 컴퓨팅의 확산, 홈 네트워킹의 발전, 모바일 웹을 위한 다양한 기술의 발전으로 그 발전 가능성이 매우 큰 서비스이다. 이런 N스크린 서비스는 단순한 연속적 상연 서비스를 넘어 다양한 기기를 동시에 사용하는 협업적 N스크린 서비스로도 진화할 것이다. 이런 환경에서 개발된 SK Planet hoppin 서비스는 TV, PC, 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC간의 연동을 통해, 기기 종류에 제약 없이 구매된 컨텐츠를 상영할 수 있는 통합 미디어를 구현하기 위해 개발되었다. 이를 위해 통신망으로 연결된 미디어 서버 및 hoppin 단말기를 위한 안드로이드 기반의 플랫폼을 개발하였으며, 크래들을 사용한 TV 연결을 통해 모바일 기기를 secondary 스크린으로도 사용될 수 있도록 했다. 이런 서비스는 현재 국내 유일의 형태이며 hoppin은 향후 협업적인 N스크린 서비스로 더욱 발전해 갈 수 있을 것이다.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of factors related to consumer lifestyle and media usage on the adoption of Nscreen service, which is fundamentally changing both the competitive landscape for business and the daily lives of consumers. The data of 8,524 consumers used in this study were drawn from the first Korea Media Panel Study in 2012 of Korea Information Society Development Institute and the characteristics of adopters and non-adopters were compared. The study also aims to explore the usage pattern of Nscreen as well as antecedent variables that affect the innovative service usage. Logistic regression analysis shows various factors affects the acceptance of this innovation. This is only a first step in the important process of understanding the nature of relationship between consumer lifestyle and the adoption of Nscreen service. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the drivers of Nscreen usage will help engineers and marketers to develop effective strategies that meet consumer needs for innovative services.

Relationship between N-screen Service and Home TV: Focusing on the Korean Representative N-Screen Service, Tving (N 스크린 서비스와 홈TV간 대체 및 보완관계에 대한 실증적 연구: 국내 대표 N스크린 서비스인 티빙을 중심으로)

  • This study investigates whether the use of N-screen service affects the use of Home TV service as a supplement or substitution. In this study, we collected 132 available survey answers from CJ Hellovision Tving users. We found supplement relationship between Tving and Home TV, which implies that the more use in Tving service, the use of Home TV increases as much as 36.4%. From the result, some meaningful implications were derived. First, a direction for content price negotiation between N-screen providers and terrestrial broadcasters can be suggested. Second, the result will provide a suggestion for establishing a competitive strategy between N-screen providers and Pay-TV providers. Third, this study may solve copyright dispute between content providers and pay TV operators.

  • 본 연구는 N스크린 서비스의 유료이용자와 무료이용자 간의 이용행태와 삶의 만족도를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 두 집단간 방송 프로그램을 시청할 때 다양한 디바이스를 통해 연계 이용하는 행위는 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 나타냈으며, 무료이용자가 더 많은 디바이스를 통해 연계이용을 하고 있음을 밝혀냈다. 또한, 개인적 만족도는 유료이용자가 더 높게 나타났으며 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 나타내었다. 마지막으로 동영상 콘텐츠를 유료로 지출하는 행위는 개인적 삶의 만족도에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 방송 콘텐츠를 유료로 지출하는 행위는 관계적, 집단적 삶의 만족도에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 N스크린 서비스 이용자의 이용행태에 맞춤형 서비스를 제공, 사업자의 비즈니스 모델을 모색하는데 도움이 될 것이라 판단된다.

  • This study discusses crossmedia storytelling strategy plans by utilizing N-Screen service. It conceptualizes the definitions of N-Screen service in terms of smart contents. Related previous researches are extensively introduced to clarify how N-Screen service would be different from previous similar services. Most domestic N-Screen services have adopted OSMU method which provides the same contents from various platforms. It is, however, centered only on a development company's one-sided service and neglects to reflect the characteristics of a media or platform. In this light of gap, this study introduces ASMD method which is based on cross media. By providing right contents services according to types of smart media and enhancing a user's participation, users can enjoy a variety of entertainment and rich contents experiences and development companies can expect better promotion effects and an increase in sales. Finally, this study argues for strategies of crossmedia storytelling by using ASMD method, based on both domestic and overseas examples of contents development with crossmedia. As more and more diverse forms of media and platform would be introduced in the future, new strategies and perspectives would be imperative to cope with new environment. Conventional OSMU method bears inherent limitations to cover the range of N-Screen application. This study discusses the ways to mitigate the limitations by proposing ASMD method with crossmedia.

A Comparative study on difference in life satisfaction and user behavior of N-screen Service (N스크린 서비스의 이용행태와 삶의 만족도 비교연구)

  • This study compared and analyzed the connection use, using behaviors and life satisfaction of paid users and free users in accordance with the business models of convergence N-screen service providers. It also analyzed factors that influence users' satisfaction at a personal life level, a relationship-based life level and a group-based life level. The study result showed the different connection use levels of broadcast contents by paid and free users of the N-screen service have a statistically significant meaning. The result also showed the personal satisfaction level of paid users is higher than that of free users. It also turned out that factors that influence life satisfaction differ according to whether or not the users paid for the service. Also, academic background and content consumption expenses affected life satisfaction level of free users while connection use of broadcast contents affected the one of paid users. This study provided an insight on the current domestic N-screen market situation and suggested business strategies which could help find business models.

Nscreen Service User Typology Based on Use-Diffusion and Lifestyle (사용확산 및 라이프스타일에 따른 N스크린 서비스 이용자 유형화)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate factors related to use-diffusion of Nscreen service as well as consumers' lifestyle and media usage of Nscreen service, which is fundamentally changing both the competitive landscape for business and the daily lives of consumers. The data of 1,524 consumers used in this study were drawn from the first Korea Media Panel Study in 2012 of Korea Information Society Development Institute. This study categorized adopters depending on the usage rate of contents and the variety of media platforms they used. Consumers using various media platforms enjoyed more categories of contents provided by Nscreen services. The variety of media platforms was useful in grouping users to explain the difference between the groups in terms of lifestyle activities. Based on the factor analysis and cluster analysis based on the consumers' lifestyle to find out different characteristics of each clusters, the result elicited some implications.
