This study aims to grasp the vital rhythm of the Chapel at Ronchamp by analyzing its rhythm through Henri Lefebvre's 'rhythmanalysis' in an effort to show the possibility of approaching the presence of this chapel. For the purpose of this study, Lefebvre's thought of rhythmanalysis was first contemplated, and a case study analysis was conducted on the concept and presence of the chapel in the design process. On this basis, examples of the chapel's rhythms were analyzed through Lefebvre's dialectical analysis of the triad of time(melody), space(harmony) and energy(rhythm). The results of analysis are as follows: First, the concept intended by Le Corbusier in the process of designing the Chapel at Ronchamp is expressed as the acoustic form, the modulor corresponding to the scale of the music, the light and shadow of counterpoint, and the opposite composition of musical changes. Consequently, the concept-mediated presence of this chapel is the presence of music. Second, at the Chapel at Ronchamp, a Lefebvre's rhythmanalyst experiences, or rather senses, two vital rhythms of an antithetical unity (i.e., acoustic curved rhythm and modulor-generated linear rhythm), with reference to his/her own rhythms. These rhythms are a dialectical union of spatiality of melodies temporalized through continuity, (i.e., acoustic curved form and modulor-generated linear form), and temporality of harmonies spatialized through simultaneity (i.e., light and shadow, materials and color, form of interpenetration, and stairs or windows/doors). These rhythms carry the measures generated by music-specific repetitions and differences in movements(energy). Consequently, the rhythm-mediated presence of this chapel is also the presence of music. In conclusion, the Chapel of Ronchamp indicates that an approach toward its presence can be realized through vital rhythms derived from Lefebvre's 'rhythmanalysis'. This study holds significance as an analysis of spatial rhythm and presence, employing a philosophical thought.
In this paper, we propose a staff-line detection and removal algorithm from a music score image obtained by a mobile phone camera. As a preprocessing technique to recognize a music score image, staff-line detection and removal should be efficiently applied to the skewed or curved images. The proposed method detects a staff-line by dividing a staff according to the degree of distortion. The number of division is calculated by dividing a staff repletely until an average of differences of y coordinates in every divided position is smaller than a threshold. Therefore, the number of division can be adaptively estimated according to the degree of the distortion. For an experiment, we make various kinds of images by rotating one from $1^{\circ}\;to\;3^{\circ}$ or curving slightly upward. The results show that the proposed method performed well on the experiment images.

The former people who made musical instruments used touch devices for sound control. As the first multi-touch system appeared in 1982, the performance of the system has been improved rapidly by many researches. In spite of such performance improvement, the popularization of multi-touch interface was looked difficult. However, in 2007, multi-touch interfaces have become popular with Apple Iphone and people have been able to experience easily multi-touch interface using smart phones. In this paper we propose a general-purpose multi-touch interaction system for multi-touch content producer and market invigoration of multi-touch interface. We show by real field tests that the proposed method has benefits in the aspects of price and performance compared with other techniques.

They always tried to make new approach specializing Fusion Jazz genre, which makes us realize that they are the front runners of Contemporary Jazz mixing music with the situation of the time. This paper analyzes harmonic parts and arranged parts these two guitarists show and studies the musical meaning and characteristics their representative albums have. Also this paper focuses on some developments and growth by examining the relationship between these two guitarists.

In the training field where literature is used as a tool, some excerpts from its text are used, instead of its full text. Therefore, it is necessary to have empirical guidelines for which part of the text should be used as Memory-Hint, a part that reminds its reader of certain memory, and for how the text can be introduced effectively. For the study, Hesse's whole life and his literary characters were examined from a therapeutic perspective. First, while Hesse's life was reviewed and his characters were analyzed, Hesse was recognized for Self-therapeutic Life. He also lived a life of multimedia in which he practiced writing, painting, playing musical instruments, meditation, walking, etc. Second, Contents of Literature Therapy using Hesse's works were applied to the schizophrenic patients. Media used for the clinical study were mostly extracted from Hesse's works. They began to show interest in others and express their empathy on others, in addition to expressing their sentimental empathy on Hesse's texts. How effectively Hesse utilized multimedia during his lifetime will be good literary resources in helping improving modern-day people's mental health and curing their pathological problems.
Korean pyeongyeong, a set of sixteen L-shape chime stones covering one and one third octaves, is a standard instrument in the Korean traditional court music. We analyze the vibrational mode frequencies in a pyeongyeong replica which is played at the National Center for Korean Traditional Performance Arts and pyeongyeong remains which are exhibited at King Sejong Memorial Museum. The modal shapes on the Whangjong, the 1st stone and Cheonghyurjong, the 16th stone mapped by scanning accelerometer, TV holography and STAR system. The nominal frequencies in pyeongyeong replica at the National Center for Korean Traditional Performance Arts increase linearly with the thickness of the stones and the tones are tuned in line with the musical scale of Sambunsonik. The sexagenary cycles on the pyeongyeong remains at King Sejong Memorial. which show the Year of product indirectly, are different each other and the tones are not tuned in scale. The relative frequency ratios of each modes on stones differ more than just-noticeable differences from those on the pyeongyeong replica. Modal shapes are same for the two stones regardless of the thickness.
This study analyzed five official entries in the 3rd Cheong Kong Festival contest and analyzed the patterns of teen audience empathy. The tools used for this analysis were 'characters, acting, background and theme'. Firstly, characters were mostly teenagers and out-of-school teenagers, but there were other performances that focused on the relationship between teenagers and adults or focused on the youth, which the teen audience preferred. And they preferred realism acting to emotional acting and preferred musical acting to realism acting. In addition, the background of the events covered in the performance was evaluated to be like this: the closer the audience was to the youth, the higher the audience sympathized with the performance, and the closer the subject matter was to the youth's interest, the more positive it received. In summing up the opinions of the youth evaluation team, the first audience-participating Sinpa Theater, "Mr. X" was evaluated to expand the scope of teenagers to 20s and to show the negative and heavy reality as fun and beneficial one. Secondly, when it comes to non-prejudiced youth theatre "The Turtle", which have a high level of empathy, it was evaluated to shape the prejudice about others through the symbol of 'bag'. Thirdly, regarding the time-traveling retro-style youth theatre of the 'a jam-packed Bus', it was evaluated to be a well-made retro-style youth theatre. Regarding the 'Lunar Eclipse', which showed the aesthetic of the relationship, scenes were evaluated to be built with omission and restraint. Regarding "B Officer on and Love Letter", it was evaluated to be adapted to a musical from Hyun Jingun's novel, which was released 100 years ago. Lastly, the performance desired by the youth evaluation team was a performance with a high level of 'sympathy' and 'education'. In other words, they preferred performances that empathize with the emotions and thoughts of teenagers, and on the other hand, they wanted to see performances that allowed them to see the world broadly outside their own worlds. If youth theater is created by referring to the evaluation of youth as it is in this study, the audience will be more sympathetic to performances.

The movie 'Chicago' is a musical film that crosses the boundaries of reality and fantasy with dancing and singing. Its lighting, stage setting, powerful and sexy dancing augmented already exaggerated and sensual costumes. Following is the analysis of costumes for two heroines as images of femme fatale. Strong contrast of color among black, red and blue on see-through & stickingly tight body suit signifies liberal mind and arrogant charisma of Velma. The contrast, haughty gestures, cropped black hair and thick makeups represent sex appeal, aggressive image, and fearlessly determined character of femme fatale. Roxie wears decent dresses in front of public and gorgeous stage costume in fantasy to convey two images of bad girl and angel. Her body suit, showing off lustering materials and dazzling bead decoration, is rather loose but still displays her bodyline to emphasize sexiness for representation of desire in fantasy. Chastity and innocence are implied with the decency of dresses in reality. They were specially chosen to draw public sympathy and indicate cunning disguise of Roxy who desperately wants to realize her desire. These dauntless costumes, which sufficiently express inside aspirations of Velma and Roxie later denote open and realistic social yearning rather than fatal desire hidden behind sensual beauty. It doesn't exist as imperfect, unrealistic and socially disdainful ambition as the image of femme fatale of paintings and movies did before in history. Femme fatale is expressed with deep cleavage, silk dresses that explicitly display bodyline, sexiness of mesh stockings with garter belts. All of these won't be utilized as a negative tool to seduce and destroy someone anymore but rather, they should represent rightful and fair nature of humans such as men's curiosity who secretly steal a look at them or female sexuality that women spontaneously want to show off.

Harmony search (HS) is a recently developed metaheuristic optimization algorithm. HS is inspired by the process of musical improvisation and repeatedly searches for the optimal solution using three operations: random selection, memory recall (or harmony memory consideration), and pitch adjustment. HS has been applied by many researchers in various fields. The increasing complexity of real-world optimization problems has created enormous challenges for the current technique, and improved techniques of optimization algorithms and HS are required. We propose an improved clustering harmony search (ICHS) that uses a clustering technique to group solutions in harmony memory based on their objective function values. The proposed ICHS performs modified harmony memory consideration in which decision variables of solutions in a high-ranked cluster have higher probability of being selected than those in a low-ranked cluster. The ICHS is demonstrated in various optimization problems, including mathematical benchmark functions and water distribution system pipe design problems. The results show that the proposed ICHS outperforms other improved versions of HS.

The increase in the number of music files in smart phone and MP3 player makes it difficult to find the music files which people want. So, Query-by-Singing/Humming (QbSH) systems have been developed to retrieve music from a user's humming or singing without having to know detailed information about the title or singer of song. Most previous researches on QbSH have been conducted using musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) files as reference songs. However, the production of MIDI files is a time-consuming process. In addition, more and more music files are newly published with the development of music market. Consequently, the method of using the more common MPEG-1 audio layer 3 (MP3) files for reference songs is considered as an alternative. However, there is little previous research on QbSH with MP3 files because an MP3 file has a different waveform due to background music and multiple (polyphonic) melodies compared to the humming/singing query. To overcome these problems, we propose a new QbSH method using MP3 files on mobile device. This research is novel in four ways. First, this is the first research on QbSH using MP3 files as reference songs. Second, the start and end positions on the MP3 file to be matched are estimated by using multi-layered perceptron (MLP) prior to performing the matching with humming/singing query file. Third, for more accurate results, four MLPs are used, which produce the start and end positions for dynamic time warping (DTW) matching algorithm, and those for chroma-based DTW algorithm, respectively. Fourth, two matching scores by the DTW and chroma-based DTW algorithms are combined by using PRODUCT rule, through which a higher matching accuracy is obtained. Experimental results with AFA MP3 database show that the accuracy (Top 1 accuracy of 98%, with an MRR of 0.989) of the proposed method is much higher than that of other methods. We also showed the effectiveness of the proposed system on consumer mobile device.
