A SOURCE EXTRACTION METHOD FOR THE AKARI MID-IR FAINT SOURCE CATALOGUE

  • We plan to produce a faint source catalogue from the AKARI mid-infrared (IR) all-sky diffuse maps. In the publicly-available AKARI mid-IR point source catalogue (PSC), sources were extracted from single-scan images, and confirmed by using the other scan images. By stacking multiple scan images, we can detect fainter sources which are not listed in the PSC. We optimized the source extraction process using a $6^{\circ}{\times}6^{\circ}C$ area around the star-forming region, Cepheus B. Then, we divided the all-sky data into three seasonal images, and checked the positions and the fluxes of the detected sources on the images. As a result, our new source extraction method works well; 90% of the sources are also identified in the WISE catalogue. In this method, we obtain the detection limit twice deeper than that of the PSC. The number of sources increases by a factor of 2, as compared with the PSC.

공상 과학 영화에 나타난 복식이미지 (Images of Costumes in Science Fiction Movies)

  • This study is intended to examine the common features of costume images in science-fiction (SF) movies that deal with current socio-cultural situations by examining their themes and tones about the future it can be generally concluded that costume images of SF movies are divided into two patterns : one inheriting traditional styles constructed on linear progress and the other based on dismantiling the tradition. this analysis is made through the research of actual cinematic contexts on the common features of multiple styles shaping the two patterns of costume images. The results can be summarized as the following: The former is related with the future built up on the basis of belief in reasonal progress rooted in the Enlightenment reasonable plan for ideal social order and strong faith in uniformity. So It shows functional uniformity disregarding wasteful competitiveness in consumption and luxuriousness and clothing that has the aesthetic value of purity without emphasizing human body or sensuality are presented. On the other hand SF movies which show the uncertain costume image as the meaning of dismantling of tradition take up a rather critical view of assumption that society can move toward utopian future as it searches future images in the notion of hetero-topia by emphasizing pluralism consequently as for clothing diversity and uncertainty in post-modern style are presented destroying modernistic dichotomy and the assumption of Utopian clothing made in the notion of modern progressivism.

Effects of Depth Map Quantization for Computer-Generated Multiview Images using Depth Image-Based Rendering

  • This paper presents the effects of depth map quantization for multiview intermediate image generation using depth image-based rendering (DIBR). DIBR synthesizes multiple virtual views of a 3D scene from a 2D image and its associated depth map. However, it needs precise depth information in order to generate reliable and accurate intermediate view images for use in multiview 3D display systems. Previous work has extensively studied the pre-processing of the depth map, but little is known about depth map quantization. In this paper, we conduct an experiment to estimate the depth map quantization that affords acceptable image quality to generate DIBR-based multiview intermediate images. The experiment uses computer-generated 3D scenes, in which the multiview images captured directly from the scene are compared to the multiview intermediate images constructed by DIBR with a number of quantized depth maps. The results showed that there was no significant effect on depth map quantization from 16-bit to 7-bit (and more specifically 96-scale) on DIBR. Hence, a depth map above 7-bit is needed to maintain sufficient image quality for a DIBR-based multiview 3D system.

Super Resolution Image Reconstruction using the Maximum A-Posteriori Method

  • Images with high resolution are desired and often required in many visual applications. When resolution can not be improved by replacing sensors, either because of cost or hardware physical limits, super resolution image reconstruction method is what can be resorted to. Super resolution image reconstruction method refers to image processing algorithms that produce high quality and high resolution images from a set of low quality and low resolution images. The method is proved to be useful in many practical cases where multiple frames of the same scene can be obtained, including satellite imaging, video surveillance, video enhancement and restoration, digital mosaicking, and medical imaging. The method can be either the frequency domain approach or the spatial domain approach. Much of the earlier works concentrated on the frequency domain formulation, but as more general degradation models were considered, later researches had been almost exclusively on spatial domain formulations. The method in spatial domains has three stages: i) motion estimate or image registration, ii) interpolation onto high resolution grid and iii) deblurring process. The super resolution grid construction in the second stage was discussed in this paper. We applied the Maximum A­Posteriori(MAP) reconstruction method that is one of the major methods in the super resolution grid construction. Based on this method, we reconstructed high resolution images from a set of low resolution images and compared the results with those from other known interpolation methods.

다중형광영상 연구를 위한 영상기반 시스템 개발 (Development of Image-based System for Multiple Fluorescence Imaging Study)

  • In these days, fluorescent materials such as ICG or 5-ALA is used for the brain surgery. The patients who underwent brain tumor surgery has been increased during last 30 years and the survivorship rate increased 22∼33% in 5 years. Recently, the Fluorescence induction surgery is developed for more safety and improved the resection rate for the glioma in the neurosurgery field. In this study, we proposed fluorescence area detection method for ICG and 5-ALA fluorescence induced surgery using acquired images from image processing. Accuracy was 99.21% from ICG images, and 99.51% from 5-ALA images. Matthews correlation coefficient was 88.67% from ICG images, and 90.49% from 5-ALA images.

한국전통문양의 종류, 표현유형, 구성형식 및 적용대상에 따른 감성이미지 (Images of Korean Traditional Patterns according to Category, Interpretation Type, Composition Type, and Application Object)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate images of Korean traditional patterns. The subjects consisted of 369 male and 356 female undergraduate students. The experimental materials used in this study were 48 stimuli and questionnaires, composed of 7-point semantic differential scales of 23 bipolar adjectives. Twelve motifs selected from 3 groups of Korean patterns were used as motif stimuli. Twelve repeated patterns were constructed from them to be applied on a CAD-simulated dress. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. The major findings were as follows: 1. Four dimensions were emerged accounting for the dimensional structure of the images of Korean traditional patterns. These dimensions were 'simplicity', 'quality', 'interest', and 'modernity' dimension. Among them, 'simplicity' and 'quality' were the major dimensions. 2. Category, interpretation type, composition type, and application object of motif had significant effects on the images of above-mentioned dimensions. The application object had a significant effect on 'simplicity' and 'modernity' image, and the composition type on 'quality' and 'interest' image.

Fast Noise Reduction Approach in Multifocal Multiphoton Microscopy Based on Monte-Carlo Simulation

  • The multifocal multiphoton microscopy (MMM) enables high-speed imaging by the concurrent scanning and detection of multiple foci generated by lenslet array or diffractive optical element. The MMM system mainly suffers from crosstalk generated by scattered emission photons that form ghost images among adjacent channels. The ghost image which is a duplicate of the image acquired in sub-images significantly degrades overall image quality. To eliminate the ghost image, the photon reassignment method was established using maximum likelihood estimation. However, this post-processing method generally takes a longer time than image acquisition. In this regard, we propose a novel strategy for rapid noise reduction in the MMM system based upon Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation. Ballistic signal, scattering signal, and scattering noise of each channel are quantified in terms of photon distribution launched in tissue model based on MC simulation. From the analysis of photon distribution, we successfully eliminated the ghost images in the MMM sub-images. If the priori MC simulation under a certain optical condition is established at once, our simple, but robust post-processing technique will continuously provide the noise-reduced images, while significantly reducing the computational cost.

두 채널 비교를 통한 DCT 영역 컬러 이미지 제로-워터마킹 (Color Image Zero-Watermarking on DCT Domain through Comparison of Two Channels)

  • 디지털 워터마킹은 복제되어 배포된 디지털 미디어의 저작권을 확인할 수 있는 전자적인 수단을 제공한다. 이미지에 관한 디지털 워터마킹 연구 분야에서는 그레이스케일 이미지에 대한 많은 연구 성과를 바탕으로 최근에는 실생활에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있는 컬러 이미지에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 컬러 이미지는 그레이스케일 이미지에 비하여 각각이 그레이스케일 이미지에 대응될 수 있는 다수의 채널을 가지고 있다. 단순하게 그레이스케일 이미지에 적용되던 기법을 컬러 이미지의 한 채널에 적용하는 연구들도 많은데, 이 채널들 간에는 상관관계가 존재한다는 특성이 고려되지 못하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 DCT 도메인 상에서 컬러 이미지의 두 채널을 비교하여 생성한 특징(이미지 의존 워터마크)을 스크램블링 처리된 저작권 워터마크와 결합하여 워터마크 키를 생성하는 기법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 이미지에 어떤 변경도 하지 않는 제로-워터마킹의 일종으로서, 생성된 키는 워터마크를 호스트 이미지에 삽입하는 워터마킹 기법과 달리 이미지 왜곡이 없다는 장점이 있으며, 샤프닝, 블러링, JPEG 손실 압축, 축소/확대, 잘라내기 등을 이용한 공격에도 강인함을 보여준다.

거리변환을 통한 특정 볼륨의 선택적 렌더링과 다중 볼륨을 위한 데이타 혼합방법 (Selective Rendering of Specific Volume using a Distance Transform and Data Intermixing Method for Multiple Volumes)

  • 단일 볼륨랜더링과 다중 볼륨랜더링의 가장 큰 차이점은 데이타 혼합방법으로 본 논문에서는 특정 볼륨을 표면수준에 따라 선택적으로 빠르게 가시화하는 선택적 랜더링방법과 다중 볼륨을 위한 데이타 혼합방법을 제안한다. 선택적 랜더링방법은 관심부위를 구성하는 외곽선으로부터 최소거리를 결정하는 거리변환을 통하여 거리변환볼륨을 생성하고 이를 랜더링하는 방법이며, 다중 볼륨을 위한 데이타 혼합방 법은 명암도 가중치 방법, 불투병도 가중치 방법, 깊이 정보를 고려한 불투병도 가중치 방법을 이용하여 여러 개의 볼륨을 혼합하는 방법이다. 실험 결과로는 EBCT 가슴부위 영상에 선택적 랜더링방법을 적용하여 생성한 좌심실, 우심실 영상을 제시하며, 가슴부위 볼륨과 좌심실 볼륨 또는 우심실 볼륨에 세 가지 다른 혼합방법을 적용하여 얻은 혼합 영상을 제시한다. 본 제안방법은 거리변환볼륨을 사용함으로써 표면수준에 따라 특정 볼륨을 가시화하고 가시화 시간을 가속화시킬 수 있으며, 데이타 혼합을 통하여 단일 볼륨랜더링 한계를 극복하여 동일 공간 상에 다중 영상을 함께 표현함으로써 복잡한 형태로부터 관심부위의 형태와 상대적 관계를 효과적으로 나타낼 수 있다.

다중 컬러필터 조리개 시스템을 위한 적응적 히스토그램 평활화를 이용한 영상 개선 (Image Enhancement Using Adaptive Region-based Histogram Equalization for Multiple Color-Filter Aperture System)

  • 본 논문은 다중 컬러 필터 조리개 (multiple color-filter aperture; MCA) 시스템에서 영역 적응적 히스토그램 평활화를 사용하여 저노출 환경에서도 강건한 새로운 디지털 다중초점 (multifocusing) 방법을 소개한다. MCA 시스템은 획득된 영상의 컬러 채널 간에 발생하는 부정합 (misalignment) 정도를 측정하여 카메라의 거리에 따른 장면의 상대적 심도 정보를 추출한다. 추출된 상대적 심도 정보는 관심영역 (regsion-of-interests; ROIs) 분류 (classification), 정합 (registration), 융합 (fusion) 등의 과정을 통하여 다중초점 영상을 생성한다. 그러나 MCA 시스템은 유한한 구경의 조리개로 때문에 저노출 환경에서 성능의 저하를 초래하게 된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 공간 적응적 히스토그램 확장을 이용한다. 실험결과에서 볼 수 있듯이, 제안한 기술은 저노출 환경에서도 콘트라스트가 향상된 다중초점 영상을 복원할 수 있음을 보여준다.
