With the advance of internet and computer processing technique, users can easily access and use the multimedia contents involving the various pictures, videos and audios information. And users request more convenient and accurate multimedia services. In these environments, it is difficulties to integrate and manage metadata standards because there are various standards in multimedia applications according to types of services and data formats individually. In this paper, we design and implement the multimedia metadata management system for integrating from heterogeneous sources. In our system, we managed heterogeneous metadata by integrating to unified schema using mapping table. Through proposed system, users can search multimedia data easily without considering variety of application services.

Test data for a naval vessel is massive, expensive and impossible to be retested in a underwater acoustic measurement on the same condition. So, it is very important. In this paper, I mention massive underwater acoustic multimedia database system that was developed to store a long time, manage systematically, supply raw data and analyze data to user in 2-tier structure. Also, I propose 3-tier structure to extend the current database system that can supply multimedia data.

멀티미디어 데이타베이스 시스템에서는 멀티미디어 데이타를 질의하고 질의 결과를 어떻게 프리젠테이션 할 것인가에 대한 연구는 매우 중요하다. 또한 질의의 결과를 다양한 응용에서 사용하기 위해서는 보다 일반화된 형태로 질의결과를 제공해야할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 데이타베이스 시스템에서 질의결과를 프리젠테이션 하기 위한 프리젠테이션 모델과 멀리미디어 프리젠테이션을 지원하는 MMSQL을 제안하고 MMSQL 질의를 처리하기 위한 질의처리기를 설계하고 구현하였다. 또한 질의 결과 프리젠테이션을 보다 일반화된 형태인 SMIL제공하도록 함으로써 질의 결과를 다양한 응용에서 쉽게 사용할 수 있도록 하였다.

As the multimedia application services have been getting various in Internet, need of multimedia database management system which can manage various multimedia information effectively has been increased. The multimedia application generally needs the features to store, manage, retrieve the multimedia data. We need a database management system framework that may be easily integrated with these features. This paper proposes th database management system framework providing the easy integration with various multimedia information retrieval. The framework uses OQL as the retrieval interface, so that user can use it easily. It can be integrated dynamically and easily with various multimedia retrieval method as a loosely coupled system. In addition there is no performance degradation caused in a loosely coupled system.

본 논문에서는 웹 프로그래밍 기술이 없이도 일반 사용자가 웹 데이터베이스 구축과 함께 멀티미디어 홈페이지를 작성하도록 해주는 시스템(웹삐에로) 개발을 기술한다. 본 시스템은 페이지 에디터, 웹 데이터베이스를 자동 구축해주는 데이터베이스 마법사와, 웹 데이터베이스의 생성 및 수정을 지원하는 데이터베이스 관리자로 구성되어 있다. 데이터베이스 마법사는 홈페이지 템플릿과 연동되는 데이터베이스를 자동으로 생성하고 로컬 사용자 영역에 서버를 자동적으로 구축하는 기능을 갖는다. 페이지 에디터는 DHTML(Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language) 컴포넌트를 기반으로 구현되었으며 멀티미디어 홈페이지를 대화형으로 쉽게 제작할 수 있게 한다. 데이터베이스 관리자는 웹 데이터베이스를 생성, 수정 및 유지 보수하는 기능을 제공한다. 본 시스템은 웹 데이터베이스 프로그래밍 기술이 없이도 웹 데이터베이스와 연동되는 홈페이지 작성을 쉽게 구축하도록 하는 특징을 갖는다.

For constructing an intelligent multimedia database system for medical diagnosis, we are focusing on two technological points. One is a retrieval algorithm of databases, and the other is a coding algorithm of multimedia contents. For the first, previously we proposed a front-end database preprocessor called“keyword-network”, and in this paper we present its extended model providing an intelligent logical AND searching function especially for medical differential diagnosis. For the second, we present examples of multimedia intellectual coding methods for cardiovascular examination records.

In this paper, a multimedia database retrieval system is proposed using MPEG-7 meta data. Multimedia content based retrieval system is implemented with the MPEG-7 meta data extraction and matching technique. MPEG-7 descriptors and descriptor schemes are stored into the database with other meta data. When a query image is given, the descriptors and descriptor schemes of the query image are extracted and compared with the descriptors and descriptor schemes in the database. Finally, images having more similarity are retrieved.

Multimedia database system can be improve data transferring efficiency by consulting catalogue database which is storing the object and serving multimedia meta-database and perform the pre-scheduling for data transferring and by delaying of transferring to reduce the responding timeand reordering the data by various method of transferring. By Introducing these techniques we can enhance the server resources utilizing, minimizing the users responding time and can decrease failure at the scheduling itself and easily search and transfer the information that the user wanted. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 대학도서관 정보망 환경상에서 구현될 정보시스템의 이론적인 틀을 구성한 다음 정보시스템 모형의 일부 기능을 멀티미디어 저작 도구를 가지고 실제 구현해 보았다. 시스템 모형은 JANUS Virtual Library, The Book House등과 같은 실제 시스템들을 기초로하여 구성하였고 시스템 구현에 사용된 지식베이스는 참고사서들과의 면담을 통해 얻은 데이터를 이용하여 구축하였다. 구현된 시스템은 참고 전문가시스템, 학술지 브라우징, 멀티미디어 데이타베이스, 온라인 열람목록, 외부 데이타베이스, 이용 안내의 6개의 모듈로 구성된다. 결론에서는 멀티미디어 대학도서관 정보망을 구현하기 위해서 해겨해야 할 문제점들을 제시하였다.
