An Immersive Augmented-Reality-Based e-Learning System Based on Dynamic Threshold Marker Method

  • In recent years, augmented reality (AR) technologies have been the subject of great interest among many communities. In education applications, old-fashioned materials (or textbooks) are still used, despite remarkable AR developments in the industrial area. We present an AR system for education. Our system consists of an authoring tool that can be used to create educational content, a viewer that plays that content, and an engine to manage the tool and viewer. In our system, a marker unit recognizes a marker printed on a plane or a cubic plane by adaptively adjusting the threshold to have an excellent recognition rate in diverse environments and acquires corresponding data of the marker. Based on the system, we test 142 elementary school students for increased educational benefits using our system.

  • In this paper, we design and implements editor for education multimedia content authoring based on avatar that use LipSynchro software development kit(SDK). This system automatically generate a movement of Avatar interworking with motion generation engine and phonetic tuning engine. thus, it is able to more excellent educational contents that combine educational multimedia contents authoring tool.

  • MPEG-4 content is streaming media that are composed of different types of media objects, organized in a hierarchical fashion. This paper proposes scene composition model for authoring MPEG-4 contents which can support object based interactions. And we have developed MPEG-4 contents authoring tool applied the proposed scene composition model as intermediate data structure. Particularly, for supporting interoperability between multimedia contents, the scene composition model should be used independent of file format. So visual scene composed of media objects on the from of scene composition tree can be transformed variable data format including BIFS, scene description from proposed by MPEG-4 standard and also support the extension of capability.

  • The script of multimedia authoring tool must be able to define the basic events, represent the special function of an object and change the entire system dynamically. In this paper, we design and implement a script interpreter that defines the properties and events of various multimedia objects and executes them, and describe the analysis of script source, the management of execution table, and the method for storing the script information to the objects and executing it according to the user's events.

  • When we present some information, we can use application programs through multinedia-based authoring tools. Especially.many programers proposed to improve its intergration time and reduce programming speed and easy to use. However, multimedia based authoring tools have not all of programming methodolgies and do not supply special functions from user's request. Therefore, we have to apply effective functions through high-level programming languages.In this paper, we propose to use small appkication prograns through linking methods, So we reduce overhead from memory loading In authoring tools, we can use MCI(media control interface) call functions for playback audio files.we development ATS(Auto Transition System) for several functions-close MCI call audio files, get object status, page-to page trancition.We evidently show that an optimal configuration of presentation obtained by ATS algorithm.

  • This study proposes web-based authoring system for the lecturers who published textbooks by inserting external open resource. When lecturer publishes textbooks, the system makes it easier to utilize external resources by providing an open resource pool that the lecturer can search not only his own resources but external resources. In addition, we designed an open resource pool based on Original Contents Tracing Model to check whether the scrapped resource is changed or not in the future. Open Resource Pool allows inserting text, images and videos by searching multimedia, and stores metadata for the follow-up management. We made the system to determine the change of the resource using the metadata stored in the tracking system. Through this research, we confirmed that it is possible to publish textbooks by utilizing a variety of open resources on the web and revise the book by tracing the scrapped resources.

  • 멀티미디어 시나리오를 표현할 수 있는 페트리넷을 제안하고, 멀티미디어 시나리오 작성기 제작에 이 페트리넷을 이용하는 방법을 제안한다. 또한 제안된 페트리넷을 포현된 멀티미디어 시나리오를 재생하여 주는 시스템 구현을 소개한다. 구현된 재생기는 처음부터 끝까지 차례로 출력하는 것 뿐만 아니라 '정지', '역방향 재생', '빠른 재생' 등의 기능도 갖고 있다.

  • In this paper, we suggest an augmented reality authoring tool system that users can easily make augmented reality contents using hand gesture and marker-based interaction methods. The previous augmented reality authoring tools are focused on augmenting a virtual object and to interact with this kind of augmented reality contents, user used the method utilizing marker or sensor. We want to solve this limited interaction method problem by applying marker based interaction method and gesture interaction method using depth sensing camera, Kinect. In this suggested system, user can easily develop simple form of marker based augmented reality contents through interface. Also, not just providing fragmentary contents, this system provides methods that user can actively interact with augmented reality contents. This research provides two interaction methods, one is marker based method using two markers and the other is utilizing marker occlusion. In addition, by recognizing and tracking user's bare hand, this system provides gesture interaction method which can zoom-in, zoom-out, move and rotate object. From heuristic evaluation about authoring tool and compared usability about marker and gesture interaction, this study confirmed a positive result.

  • Web의 등장은 텍스트위주의 단순한 미디어의 정보를 이미지, 오디오 , 비디오등의 멀티미디어 데이터로 변화시켰다. 여기에 한걸음 더 나아가 여러 종류의 미디어를 통합하여 표현하기 위한 요구가 확산되어 1998년에는 SMIL 이라는 멀티미디어 데이터를 통합하여 표현하기 위한 동기화 언어가 표준으로 채택되었다. 본 논문에서는 SMIL을 사용한 멀티미디어 동기화 문서를 기술함에 있어서 발생할 수 있는 다양한 오류에 대한 분류를 보여주며, 이러한 오류들을 검사하고, 제거할수 있는 SMIL 저작도구의 검증 스킴 개발에 대해서 기술하였다.
