THE TEMPORAL BEHAVIORS OF MULTILINE OSCILLATION IN A TRANSVERSELY EXCITED ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE $CO_2$ LASER WITH AN INTRACAVITY ETALON

  • Pulse delays among operating lines are observed in a multiline operation transversely excited atmospheric pressure $CO_2$ laser which has an intracavity germanium etalon. To show the delay effect more precisely, we have replaced the etalon with a 40%/antireflecting coated ZnSe half mirror obtained two laser lines in which the delay can be controlled by a slight tilting of the output coupler, The results show that the individual rotational vibrational transition lines must have almost equal intensities in multiline oscillation in order to obtain high peak power and short pulses.

A study on output power characteristic of selenium vapour multiline laser using isotope helium and helium filter (헬륨 동위원소 및 헬륨필터를 사용한 셀레늄증기 다중광선레이저의 출력특성에 관한 연구)

  • The paper presents the effects of output-coupling power and small signal gain of selenium vapour multiline laser by discharge of either to $^4$He or $^3$He. The purity of the He gas was improved with a special He-fille.. The result shows that compared with those of $^4$He, the output-coupling power and small-signal gain of $^3$He increase in the most of the lines. Especially, the small-signal gain of $^3$He for the strong lines (497.6 nm, 499.3 nm, 506.9 nm, 517.6 nm, 522.8 nm, 530.5 nm) lies about 30% higher than that of $^4$He, and the output-coupling power from doubles to triples.

  • The output power and the energy of Rh-6G dye laser were enhanced by the mixture of Rh-560 dye whose fluorescence spectrum was coincident with the absorption spectrum of Rh-6G. The argon filled coaxial flashlamp used for pulsed pumping and argon laser for CW pumping. The concentration of Rh-6G dye was optimized in each pumping method before Rh-560 dye was mixed in Rh-6G dye solution. In the coaxial flash lamp pumped Rh-6G laser the output energy was increased about 30% when Rh-560 was mixed at 1% of Rh-6G concentration. In the case of argon laser pumping with multiline, the output power was increased 18% at the concentration of 2.5%. In the single line laser pumping, the output power was enhanced more efficiently. The power enhancements were 72% and 88% when the pumping wavelengths were 488 nm and 514.5 nm respectively. ively.

  • The Japanese "Just-In-Time" technique reduces inventory and unnecessary factors. This technique makes the success of Japanese firms, therefore many Korean firms try to apply it to their situation. But the technique doesn't bare the same success in Korean firms. This paper, therefore, considers the different situations between Korean rim and Japanese firm, then simulates the Pull system and Push system for a multiline, multistage production system. This paper drives the different results of simulation according to variable processing times, variable demand, set-up time and shortages in Pull system and Push system using GPSS. The results show that the performance of Pull system is lower than Push system's in variable master production scheduling and variable processing times.ing times.

  • 최근 지리 정보 시스템이나 공간 데이터 베이스 시스템이 발전하면서 실세계를 효율적으로 모델링하려는 맡은 연구가 수행되고 있다. 기존의 단순한 point, line, polygon으로 모델링했던 방법들을 multipoint, multiline, multipolygon과 같은 복잡한 객체를 표현하기 위한 연구로 확장되었다. 또한 이러한 공간 객체의 이력을 효율적으로 관리하기 위해 공간 객체를 시간으로 확장하는 연구가 수행되고 있다. 이러한 모델들은 명확한 경계를 가진 시공간 객체를 대상으로 한다. 자연, 사회 문화 현상, 생태 같은 경계가 명확하지 않은 객체를 단순한 경계를 가진 공간 객체로 모델링하기에는 그 표현력이 부족하다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 불확실한 경계를 가진 시공간 데이터 모델을 제시한다. 이 논문에서 제시한 불확실한 경제를 가진 시공간 모델의 설계는 상호 운용을 증진하기 위하여 OGC(OpenGIS Consortium)에서 제시한 2차원 기하 객체 모델을 기반으로 불확실한 경계를 가지는 공간 데이터 모델로 확장한다. 또한, 이 불확실한 경계를 가지는 단순한 공간 모델을 시간 영역으로 확장하여 유효시간을 갖는 불확실한 시공간 데이터 모델을 설계한다. 또한, 이 논문에서 제시한 불확실한 경계를 가진 시공간 객체 모델을 바탕으로 실세계의 다양하고 복잡한 객체에 대한 효율적인 질의가 가능한 시공간 연산자를 제시한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure and compare the output power characteristics and optical gain for selenium vapour laser depending on the He gas purity. The purity of the He gas was improved with a special He-filter. During the measurement the individual wavelengths were selected with a birefringent filter. The result shows that compared with those of laser without He-filter, the output-coupling power and small signal gain of laser with He-filter increase in the most of the lines. Especially, the output-coupling power and small signal gain for the strong lines (497.6 nm, 499.3 nm, 506.9 nm, 517.6 nm, 522.8 nm, 530.5 nm), blue(460.4 nm, 464.8 nm) and red(644.4 nm 649.1 nm) lines lies notably higher.

A STUDY ON THE OSTEOGENIC DIFFERENTIATION OF ADIPOSE-DERIVED ADULT STEM CELL (지방조직 유래 줄기세포의 조골세포로의 분화에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Stem cells have self-renewal capacity, long-term viability, and multiline age potential. Adult bone marrow contains mesenchymal stem cells. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are progenitors of skeletal tissue components and can differentiate into adipocytes, chondrocytes, osteoblasts, and myoblasts in vitro and undergo differentiation in vivo. However, the clinical use of BMSCs has presented problems, including pain, morbidity, and low cell number upon harvest. Recent studies have identified a putative stem cell population within the adipose tissue. Human adipose tissue contains pluripotent stem cells simillar to bone marrow-derived stem cells that can differentiate toward the osteogenic, adipogenic, myogenic, and chondrogenic lineages. Human adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ATSCs) could be proposed as an alternative source of adult bone marrow stem cells, and could be obtained in large quantities, under local anesthesia, with minimal discomfort. Human adipose tissue obtained by liposuction was processed to obtain ATSCs. In this study, we compared the osteogenic differentiation of ATSCs in a specific osteogenic induction medium with that in a non-osteogenic medium. ATSCs were incubated in an osteogenic medium for 28 days to induce osteogenesis respectively. Osteogenic differentiation was assessed by von Kossa and alkaline phosphatase staining. Expression of osteocyte specific bone sialoprotein, osteocalcin, collagen type I and alkaline phosphatase, bone morphogenic protein 2, bone morphogenic protein 6 was confirmed by RT-PCR. ATSCs incubated in the osteogenic medium were stained positively for von Kossa and alkaline phosphatase staining. Expression of osteocyte specific genes was also detected. Since this cell population can be easily identified through fluorescence microscopy, it may be an ideal source of ATSCs for further experiments on stem cell biology and tissue engineering. The present results show that ADSCs have an ability to differentiate into osteoblasts. In the present study, we extend this approach to characterize adipose tissue-derived stem cells.

Disease Severity of Bacterial Blight in Mixed Plantings of Rice Near-Isogenic Lines (벼흰빛잎마름병 저항성 근동질유전자계통 혼합재배에서 이병정도)

  • Disease severity, percent ripened grains, and yield were investigated in the seven mixtures by using near-isogenic lines having different resistant gene(s) to bacterial blight(BB) of rice. The seven mixtures including the four pure stands were inoculated with a 1:1:1 mixture of races $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ of BB. Among the seven mixtures-ML01, ML02, ML03, MLl2, MLl3, ML23 and ML0123-, disease severiety, percent ripened grains, and yield of ML01 and ML12, respectively did not show significant difference with those of mean values of their components. But degree of disease severity of the other mixtures, respectively -ML02, ML03, MLl3, ML23, and ML0123-was less than the mean of their components. Percent ripened grains and yield of them were higher than those of mean of their components. ML03, MLl3, ML23 and ML0123 comprised of the equal amount of two or four components having different resistant gene, these mixtures appeared to be a desirable combination for delaying spread of the pathogen, stabilizing of the race structure of the pathogen population, and extending durability of a cultivar with monogenic resistance.

Synthesis and Optical Properties of CaMoO4:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Dy) Phosphors (CaMoO4:RE3+ (RE=Eu, Dy) 형광체의 제조와 광학 특성)

  • Rare earth ions, either $Eu^{3+}$ or $Dy^{3+}$-doped $CaMoO_4$ phosphors were synthesized by using the solid-state reaction method. The crystalline structure of all the phosphor powders, irrespective of the type and concentration of activator ions, was found to be a tetragonal system with the main diffraction peak at (112) plane. For $Eu^{3+}$-doped $CaMoO_4$ phosphors, the grain particles showed an increasing tendency and the pebble-like patterns with a very homogeneous size distribution in the range of 0.01~0.10 mol of $Eu^{3+}$ ions concentration, and the excitation spectra were composed of a broad band centered at 311 nm and weak multiline peaked in the range of 360~470 nm. The dominant emission spectrum was the strong red emission centered at 618 nm due to the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ transition of $Eu^{3+}$ ions. For $Dy^{3+}$-doped $CaMoO_4$ powders, excitation spectra showed a charge transfer band centered at 303 nm and relatively weak bands resulting from the transitions of $Dy^{3+}$ ions and the main yellow emission spectrum was observed at 578 nm, which was assigned to the $^4F_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^7H_{13/2}$ transition of $Dy^{3+}$ ions.

Development of Near-isogenic Japonica Rice Lines with Enhanced Resistance to Magnaporthe grisea

  • Thirteen near-isogenic lines (NILs) of japonica rice were developed via a backcross method using the recurrent parent Chucheong, which is of good eating quality but is susceptible to Magnaporthe grisea, and three blast resistant japonica donors, Seolak, Daeseong and Bongkwang. The agro-morphological traits of these NILs, such as heading date, culm length, and panicle length, were similar to those of Chucheong. In a genome-wide scan using 158 SSR markers, chromosome segments of Chucheong were identified in most polymorphic regions of the 13 NIL plants, and only a few chromosome segments were found to have been substituted by donor alleles. The genetic similarities of the 13 NILs to the recurrent parent Chucheong averaged 0.961, with a range of 0.932-0.984. Analysis of 13 major blast resistance (R) genes in these lines using specific DNA markers showed that each NIL appeared to contain some combination of the four R genes, Pib, Pii, Pik-m and Pita-2, with the first three genes being present in each line. Screening of nine M. grisea isolates revealed that one NIL M7 was resistant to all nine isolates; the remaining NILs were each resistant to between three and seven isolates, except for NIL M106, which was resistant to only two isolates. In a blast nursery experiment, all the NILs proved to be more resistant than Chucheong. These newly developed NILs have potential as commercial rice varieties because of their increased resistance to M. grisea combined with the desirable agronomic traits of Chucheong. They also provide material for studying the genetic basis of blast resistance.
