  • The use of Smiles rearrangement in Ugi-type couplings with tropolone allows very straightforward multicomponent formation of 2-(N,N-dialkylamino)-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one derivatives. The Ugi four-component reaction of isocyanides with tropolone (2-hydroxy-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one), primary amines and aldehydes proceeds smoothly and cleanly under mild conditions to afford 2-(N,N-dialkylamino)-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one derivatives in fairly good yields.

  • Under mild conditions and without any additional organic solvent, synthesis of carbamatoalkyl naphthols could be carried out in the present of two halogen-free Br${\phi}$nsted acidic ionic liquids, 3-methyl-1-(4-sulfonic acid)butylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate and N-(4-sulfonic acid)butylpyridinium hydrogen sulfate. A wide range of aromatic aldehydes easily undergo condensation with $\beta$-naphthol and methyl or benzyl carbamate to afford the desired products of good purity in excellent yields. The present methodology offers several advantages such as a simple procedure with an easy work-up, short reaction times, and excellent yields. The catalysts could be recycled and reused for several times without substantial reduction in their catalytic activities.

  • A simple, convenient and practical green synthetic protocol for sodium bisulfite catalyzed multicomponent reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, hydrazine hydrate, malononitrile, and various aldehydes for the synthesis of 6-amino-4-phenyl-3-methyl-2,4-ihydropyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole-5-carbonitriles using ultrasound irradiations in solvent free condition. This method provides the advantage of operational simplicity, shorter reaction time and excellent yields making the protocol environment friendly and economically lucrative.

  • We report a fast, efficient, and facile route for the synthesis of 2,5-dihydro-5-imino-2-methylfuran-3,4-dicarboxylate derivatives from the isocyanide, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate and acetic anhydride under ultrasound-assisted conditions. Utilization of easy reaction conditions, very high to excellent yields, and short reaction times makes this manipulation potentially very useful.

  • A facile and efficient synthetic route has been developed for the polyhydroquinoline via four component reactions of aldehydes, dimedone, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate in the presence of catalytic amount of scolecite in ethanol at 70 ${^{\circ}C}$ through Hantzsch reaction. This method gives remarkable advantages such as simple work-up procedure, environmentally friendly, inexpensive, non-toxic and recyclable catalyst, shorter reaction time along with excellent yields.

  • A new and efficient synthesis of the novel bioactive bis(benzopyrano) fused dihydropyridines is described. The conventionally developed route is a two step multicomponent condensation reaction. This is latter modified by a one pot microwave (MW) assisted reaction using inorganic solid support via the arylidene derivative intermediate. With this environmentally benign approach, the reaction time is brought down from hours to minutes along with a yield enhancement. Furthermore, the role of different solid supports is studied and it is concluded that the acidic alumina is the best solid support for the present investigation.

  • Simple ways to build up mixed-metal molecules which can act as potential single-source precursors to multimetallic oxides are reviewed. Emphasis is given to Lewis acid-base reactions between metal alkoxides M(OR)/sub n/, and between metal alkoxides and more accessible oxide precursors, carboxylates M(O₂CR)/sub n/ and β-diketonates M(β-dik)/sub n/. Characterization of the precursors is achieved in the solid state (single crystal X-ray diffraction, FT-IR) and by multinuclear NMR in solution. The reactions proceed toward the formation of aggregates in which the different metals display their usual coordinations numbers, often six for transition metals, as shown. Strategies for fixing the stoichiometry between the metals are developed. The reactivity of the MM species (dissociation, effects of chemical modifiers, of other metallic species, hydrolytic or non-hydrolytic condensation, etc.) will be indicated. Transformations into oxides are illustrated on precursors for titanates or niobates.

  • In this experimental work, the development of a multicomponent binder system based on high density polyethylene (HDPE) and paraffin wax for Powder Injection Molding of Alumina $(Al_2O_3)$ parts was carried out. The optimum composition of the injection mixture was established through mixing torque measurements and a rheological study. The maximum powder loading was 58 vol%. The miscibility of organic components and the optimum injection temperature was evaluated by thermal characterization of binder and feedstock. The thermal debinding cycle was developed on the basis of thermogravimetrical analysis of the binder. After sintering the densities achieved were closed to 98% of the theoretical one.
