Bi-2223 wire, the first-generation high temperature superconducting (HTS) wire, was successfully commercialized and various electrical machinery and equipment are actively being developed in many countries. Because its critical current is too small to realize the lossless conducting part of electric power system with a HTS wire, multi-HTS paths are used to enlarge the critical current of HTS system. Though the resistance generated in HTS wire by transport current is very small, the difference of it in multi-path is the additional reason which causes the non-uniform current sharing in multi-HTS path except the well known reason, the difference of inductance between each path. In this paper, experimental research on current sharing of multi-strand and multi-stacked HTS wire was implemented. The whole critical current of multi-HTS paths is not equal to sum of critical current of each path because of non-uniform current sharing occurred in this paths. It was verified experimentally that Bi-2223 wires have different resistance generated by same transport current even if they was manufactured in same progress of work. Current sharing phenomenon was affected by difference of resistance and self and mutual inductance.
To be applied to electrical equipment HTSC tapes have to endure external stress and so on. The critical current density has been shown depending on the mechanical properties. strain and bending stress. AC loss reduction is primary concern in the development of such high-efficiency equipment. AC losses in Bi-2223 silver-sheathed tapes, both single and multi-filamentary, were investigated by means of AC magnetization techniques. The results were compared with the hysteresis loss equation based on Bean model and the eddy current loss equation. The AC loss of the mono-filamentary tape was the hysteresis. On the contrary, the AC loss of the multi-filamentary tape was substantially dominated by the eddy current loss in the Ag matrix.
Multi-material Additive Manufacturing (AM) is being focused to apply for direct manufacturing of a product. In this paper, a three-dimensional circuit device (3DCD) fabrication technology based on the multi-material AM technology was proposed. In contrast with conventional two-dimensional Printed Circuit Board (PCB), circuit elements and conducting wires of 3DCD are placed in threedimensional configuration at multiple layers of the structure. Therefore, 3DCD technology can improve design freedom of an electronic product. In this paper, 3DCD technology is proposed based on AM technology. Two types of 3DCD fabrication systems were developed based on the Stereolithography and the Fused Deposition Modeling technologies. And the 3DCD samples which have same function were fabricated, successfully.
We describe the development of a prototype multi-channel electrical impedance tomography (EIT) system. The EIT system can be equipped with either a single-ended current source or a balanced current source. Each current source can inject current between any chosen pair of electrodes. In order to reduce the data acquisition time, we implemented multiple digital voltmeters simultaneously acquiring and demodulating voltage signals. Each voltmeter measures a differential voltage between a fixed pair of adjacent electrodes. All voltmeters are configured in a radially symmetric architecture to optimize the routing of wires and minimize cross-talks. To maximize the signal-to-noise ratio, we implemented techniques such as digital waveform generation, Howland current pump circuit with a generalized impedance converter, digital phase-sensitive demodulation, tri-axial cables with both grounded and driven shields, and others. The performance of the EIT system was evaluated in terms of common-mode rejection ratio, signal-to-noise ratio, and reciprocity error. Future design of a more innovative EIT system including battery operation, miniaturization, and wireless techniques is suggested.

A rare-earth barium copper oxide (REBCO) superconducting magnet was designed using no-insulation (NI) and multi-width (MW) winding techniques. The proposed magnet is comprised of 58 REBCO-wound single pancake coils with a bore size of 240 mm. When the magnet is operated at 20 K, the center magnetic flux density is designed to reach 3 T with an operational current of 169.55 A, 70 % of its critical current. The critical current was evaluated using experimental data of a short REBCO conductor sample. The designed magnet was then simulated using FEM software with uniform current density model. Magnetic field and mechanical properties of the magnet are evaluated using the simulated data. This magnet was designed as one of the base designs for the project "Tesla-Level Magnets with Large Bore Sizes for Industrial Applications" which was initiated in 2019, and will be wound using REBCO wires with the defect-irrelevant-winding (DIW) technique incorporated to reduce the overall manufacturing cost.
We present a multi-step cold drawing for a non-equiatomic Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 high entropy alloy (HEA) with a simple face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure. The distribution of strain in the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires was analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). The effective strain was expected to be higher as it was closer to the surface of the wire. However, the reverse shear strain acted to cause a transition in the shear strain behavior. The critical effective strain at which the shear strain transition behavior is completely shifted was predicted to be 4.75. Severely cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wires up to 96% of the maximum cross-sectional reduction ratio were successfully manufactured without breakage. With the assistance of electron back-scattering diffraction and transmission electron microscope analyses, the abundant deformation twins were found in the region of high effective strain, which is a major strengthening mechanism for the cold-drawn Co10Cr15Fe25Mn10Ni30V10 HEA wire.
