  • In this paper, we proposed the electric circuit using one common arm of H-Bridge Inverters to reduce the number of switching component in multi-level inverter combined with H-Bridge Inverters and Transformers. and furthermore we suggested the new multi-level PWU inverter using PWM level to reduce THD(Total Harmonic Distortion). and we used the switching method that can be same rate of usage at each transformer. Also, we tested the proposed prototype 9-level inverter to clarify the proposed electric circuit and reasonableness of control signal for the proposed multi-level PWM inverter.

An Optimization Design of the Diode Clamped Multi-Level Converter for Coaxial Inductive Power Transfer on the Low Voltage DC Micro-grid

  • This proposed paper aims for the high efficiency contactless power transfer in household dc power distribution. A 300 W five-level diode clamped multi-level converter with 300 Vdc input dc link bus is employed for the power transferring task and the output voltage range is controlled at 48 Vdc. The inner and outer solenoid coils are used for inductive power transfer (IPT) transformer with the 200 kHz switching frequency for designed power density. Therefore, to achieve the converter efficiency above 95%, the LLC series resonant with fundamental harmonic analysis (FHA) and the calculated switching angles are used as an optimized tool for designing the system resonant tank. The validations of this approached topology are illustrated in both MATLAB/Simulink simulation and implementation.

  • This paper is proposed Single phase Multi-Level AC-DC Converter. This is consist of diode bridge and switches. The number of the supply current levels depends on the number of the individual converter's current level. In this converter circuit the number of the levels is equal to 2(M+1) -1, where M is the number of Switching-Leg's number. In this paper is introduced converter with 31 current Level. If the number of current level is increased, smoother sinusoidal waveform can be obtained. The feasibility of the circuit is verified by computer simulation using PSIM

Harmonic Optimization Techniques in Multi-Level Voltage-Source Inverter with Unequal DC Sources

  • One of the major problems in electric power quality is the harmonic contents. There are several methods of indicating the quantity of harmonic contents. The most widely used measure is the total harmonic distortion (THD). Various switching techniques have been used in static converters to reduce the output harmonic content. This paper presents and compares the two harmonic optimization techniques, known as optimal minimization of the total harmonic distortion (OMTHD) technique and optimized harmonic stepped-waveform (OHSW) technique used in multi-level inverters with unequal dc sources. Both techniques are very effective and efficient for improving the quality of the inverter output voltage. First, we describe briefly the cascaded H-bridge multi-level inverter structure. Then, we present the switching algorithm for the inverter based on OHSW and OMTHD techniques. Finally, the results obtained for the two techniques are analyzed and compared. The results verify the effectiveness of the both techniques in multi-level voltage-source inverter with non-equal dc sources, clarifying the advantages of each technique.

  • 3상 변압기를 이용한 멀티레벨 인버터는 단상 변압기를 이용한 경우에 비해 변압기 수를 줄일 수 있으며, 변압기 이용률을 증대시켜 변압기 크기를 줄일 수 있다는 장점이 있으나 많은 수의 스위치 소자가 필요하다는 단점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 공통암을 이용하여 스위치 수를 줄인 3상 변압기 절연 멀티레벨 인버터를 제안한다. 제안한 인버터는 스위칭 주파수를 기본주파수와 동일하게 제어하면서 등면적 법에 의해 도통각을 제어 하여 출력전압의 THD 감소 및 스위치 손실을 줄였다. 또한 Matlab을 이용한 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통하여 제안된 방식의 타당성을 검증 하였다.

  • Many conventional multi-level inverters have detected switching faults by using the over voltage and current. However, fault detection of the switching elements is very difficult because the voltage and current due to each switching fault decrease more than the normal operation. Moreover, the dc-link unbalancing voltage causes a serious problem in the safety and reliability of system when the 3-level inverter faults occur Therefore, this paper proposes the simple fault diagnose method and the neutral-point-voltage control method that can protect the 3-level inverter system from the unbalancing voltage of the do-link capacitors when the faults of switching elements occur in the 3-level inverter that is very efficient in ac motor drives of the high voltage and high power applications. Through experiment results, the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated.

Self-Oscillating Switching Technique for Current Source Parallel Resonant Induction Heating Systems

  • This paper presents resonant inverter tuning for current source parallel resonant induction heating systems based on a new self oscillating switching technique. The phase error is suppressed in a wide range of operating frequencies in comparison with Phase Locked Loop (PLL) techniques. The proposed switching method has the capability of tuning under fast changes in the resonant frequency. According to this switching method, a multi-frequency induction heating (IH) system is proposed by using a single inverter. In comparison with multi-level inverter based IH systems, the advantages of this technique are its simple structure, better transients and wide range of operating frequencies. A laboratory prototype was built with an operating frequency of 35 kHz to 55 kHz and 300 W of output power. The performance of the IH system shows the validity of the new switching technique.

  • 최근 태양광 발전시스템 등 낮은 전압을 발생하는 전원소스를 이용하여 높은 승압효과를 얻기 위한 멀티레벨 인버터에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 DC/DC의 출력전압 리플 저감을 위한 새로운 구조의 다중레벨 DC/DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 Buck컨버터를 직렬로 연결하여 다중전압을 발생하는 구조를 취함으로 기존의 Buck 컨버터에 비하여 출력 전압의 리플을 저감할 수 있었다. 또한 FPGA 기반 멀티레벨 인버터용 스위칭 함수를 구현하고자 하였다.

  • This paper deals with the three phase high voltage power-grid connection topology using multi-level inverter. Due to the multi-level inverter, these are improved effect of fluctuating voltage, problem of EMC and switching loss using suitable switching patterns of device, above all thing, it is easy to realize the system because of using lower voltage rating switch. This topology can be applicable to power-grid connection of wind system, there is a good point about economical efficiency. The simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed topology.

  • The number of transformers and the size of transformers in inverter using 3-phase transformer could be reduced compare with a multi-level inverter using single phase transformer. but still the 3-phase transformer inverter needs many switches. In this study, we proposed the isolated multi-level inverter using 3-phase transformers and common arm. Also, the equal-area method is used to calculate conduction angle with switching frequency equal to output fundamental frequency and it can reduce harmonics component of output voltage and switching loss. Finally, We tested multi-level inverter to clarify electric circuit and reasonableness through Matlab simulation and experiment by using prototype inverter.
