무기금속 다층박막을 적용한 유기발광소자의 제작 및 특성 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the fabrication and Characteristic Analysis of Organic Light Emitting Device using Inorganic Metal Multi-layer)

  • IMML(Inorganic metal multi-layer) was used as cathode in the OLED devices to reduce the reflectance or ITO and increase the contrast ratio. Device structure was $ITO/{\alpha}-NPD/Alq_3:DCJTB/Alq_3/IMML/Al$. $Alq_3$ and DCJTB (4 - (dicyanomethylene) - 2 - ( 1 - propyls) 6 - methy 4H - pyrans) as host material lot red emission and red emitting guest material. IMML made three different layer: thin aluminum layer, aluminum layer doped with silicon monoxide, thick aluminum layer. The red OLED device with IMML showed the average reflectance of $4.97\%$, and then normal OLED with or without polarizer showed the average reflectance of $4.55\%$, $46\%$ at visible range from 380 nm to 780 nm. The brightness of OLED with IMML at 13 V was 5557 $cd/m^2$, and that of normal OLED with polarizer was 4872 $cd/m^2$. IMML could be the substitution for polarizer with same reflection, low cost, easy process in flat panel display market.

Fuzzy optimization for the removal of uranium from mine water using batch electrocoagulation: A case study

  • This research presents a case study on the remediation of a radioactive waste (uranium: U) utilizing a multi-objective fuzzy optimization in an electrocoagulation process for the iron-stainless steel and aluminum-stainless steel anode/cathode systems. The incorporation of the cumulative uncertainty of result, operational cost and energy consumption are essential key elements in determining the feasibility of the developed model equations in satisfying specific maximum contaminant level (MCL) required by stringent environmental regulations worldwide. Pareto-optimal solutions showed that the iron system (0 ㎍/L U: 492 USD/g-U) outperformed the aluminum system (96 ㎍/L U: 747 USD/g-U) in terms of the retained uranium concentration and energy consumption. Thus, the iron system was further carried out in a multi-objective analysis due to its feasibility in satisfying various uranium standard regulatory limits. Based on the 30 ㎍/L MCL, the decision-making process via fuzzy logic showed an overall satisfaction of 6.1% at a treatment time and current density of 101.6 min and 59.9 mA/㎠, respectively. The fuzzy optimal solution reveals the following: uranium concentration - 5 ㎍/L, cumulative uncertainty - 25 ㎍/L, energy consumption - 461.7 kWh/g-U and operational cost based on electricity cost in the United States - 60.0 USD/g-U, South Korea - 55.4 USD/g-U and Finland - 78.5 USD/g-U.

연료전지 자동차용 흡기 소음기의 설계 변수 최적화에 관한 연구 (Optimization of the multi-chamber perforated muffler for the air processing unit of the fuel cell electric vehicle)

  • Fuel cells convert a fuel together with oxygen in a highly efficient electrochemical reaction to electricity and water. Since the electrochemical reaction in the fuel cell stack dose not generate any noise, Fuel cell systems are expected to operated much quieter than combustion engines. However, the tonal noise and the broad band noise caused by a centrifugal compressor and an electric motor cause which is required to feed the ambient air to the cathode of the fuel cell stack with high pressure. In this study, the multi-camber perforated muffler is used to reduce noise. We propose optimized muffler model using an axiomatic design method that optimizes the parameters of perforated muffler while keeping the volume of muffler minimized.

Study of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube Synthesis Using Liquid Nitrogen and Post-Process Filtration

  • The study deals with the effects of parameters in the synthesis of carbon nanotubes in liquid nitrogen to find the most appropriate conditions such as electrical voltage and time that give carbon nanotubes with large volume and less proportion of impurity, which is a non-nanotubed carbon. The experiment employed the method of arc-discharge between graphite cathode and anode which are immersed in liquid nitrogen. The electrical DC current of 60A and 70A were applied with the time period ranging from 10 seconds to 25 seconds. It was found that the electrical current of 60A and 13 seconds arc-discharge time allowed the largest volume of carbon nanotubes generation. The longer time leads to more impurities around the carbon nanotubes. By the filtration of CNTs-suspended solution using 0.2 micrometers porous paper filter and the characterization using TEM, the carbon nanotubes synthesized in the study were approximately 25 layers multi-walled nanotubes with the average diameter of 18.2 nanometers.

  • In this study, multi layer type OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) has been fabricated using $Snq_2$, $Snq_4$, and $Alq_3$ for development of high efficiency, electrical and optical properties of multi layer type OLED investigated. The HTL(Hole Transfer Layer) and EML(Emitting Material Layer) were fabricated by using vacuum evaporation on ITO electrode, and its thickness controlled using thickness monitor. Al was used as a cathode. The electrical and optical properties such as J-V, brightness-V and EL spectrum of OLED device was measured using I.V.L.T system. The result, brightness of $Alq_3$, $Snq_2$ and $Snq_4$ were $3900cd/m^2$, $63cd/m^2$ and $23cd/m^2$ respectively.

금속이 코팅된 PET필름의 수분침투 특성 평가

  • OLED(organic light emitting diode)는 차세대 평판 디스플레이로 전자종이, 입는 디스플레이 등 flexible한 디스플레이로도 주목받고 있다. 하지만, OLED의 가장 큰 단점 중의 하나가 수분과 산소에 매우 민감하다는 것으로 이것은 OLED의 lifetime과 연결된다. 따라서 이에 대한 mechanism의 확립이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는, flexible한 OLED에 적용되는 금속 코팅막의 적층구조 및 기판의 노출온도에 따른 금속 코팅막의 수분침투 특성에 대해 MOCON의 weight gain test (WGT)를 통해 barrier layer에 대해 평가하고 이에 대한 mechanism을 확립하는데 그 목적이 있다. 금속 코팅막은 OLED의 cathode와 anode 재료로 많이 사용되는 Al과 ITO를 sputter장비를 이용해 single layer와 multi-layer의 두 가지 구조로 PET기판에 증착하였다. 또한, 노출온도에 따른 특성을 알아보고자 bare PET / ITO coated PET(single layer $50{\mu}m$) / Al coated PET(single layer $200{\mu}m$)의 세 가지 시편을 제작하였다. 이 시편을 각각 $25^{\circ}C$, $37.8^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 test를 진행하였고 이 과정을 100%RH, 70%RH, 40%RH조건의 수분조건에서 진행하여 각각의 수분조건에서 각각의 온도에 따른 금속 코팅막의 수분침투 특성에 대한 mechanism을 확립하였다. 적층구조에 따른 수분침투 특성 평가 결과 multi-layer가 single layer보다 더 우수한 수분침투의 barrier 특성을 나타냈었다. 그리고 각 온도에 따른 test결과 온도가 증가할수록 barrier의 특성이 나빠짐이 보였다.

Properties of the metallic glass thin films fabricated by multicomponent single alloying target and its applications in various industrial fields

  • Metallic glass alloys having dense packing structure have short range ordered structure with long range homogeneity. Therefore, they can provide complete corrosion protection and unique electrical properties. Recently, metallic glass thin films have received much attention to extend its application fields combining with PVC coating technologies. The metallic glass thin films can change the surface properties of the conventional bulk materials which need anticorrosion properties. However, multi-component alloying targets are required to fabricate the metallic glass thin films because metallic glass alloys contain more than three elements. Recently, many researchers have been reported the properties of the metallic glass thin films synthesized with multi-cathode systems or amorphous target. But, it is difficult to fabricate the large sized sputtering targets for mass production equipment with high toughness and thermal stability. In this study, newly developed sputtering target with glass forming ability and the properties of the metallic glass thin films will be introduced with respect to the various application fields such as bipolar plate in PEM fuel cell and decorative coatings for electric device and construction fields.

도전재 종류에 따른 리튬폴리머전지용 $LiFePO_4$ 정극활물질의 용량특성의 변화 (A Study on the Capacity Characteristic of $LiFePO_4$ Cathode for Lithium Polymer Batteries according to kinds of the conductive materials)

  • 리튬폴리머 전지용 정극활물질인 $LiFePO_4$를 수열법으로 합성하였다. 제조한 정극활물질 $LiFePO_4$는 X-ray 회절분석을 통하여 olivine 구조임을 확인하였다. 전극 제조 시 첨가된 도전재의 종류에 따른 전기화학적 특성변화를 알기 위하여, Acetylene Black, Super-Black, Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube(MWCNT), SP270을 도전재로 제조된 정극활물질과 PVDF를 결합제로 사용하였다. 셀은 제조된 정극과 고체전해질 $25PVDFLiCIO_4EC_{10}PC_{10}$를 사용하고, 부극은 금속리튬으로 coin 타입의 cell을 조립하여 충방전을 진행하였다. 충방전 진행결과, Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube(MWCNT)를 도전재로 사용하였을 경우, 초기 방전용량은 94mAh/g, 100cycle 후에는 약 93mAh/g인 기타 도전재를 사용하였을 때보다 안정하고 높은 방전용량을 나타내었다. 이때의 충방전 전류밀도는 0.1mAh/g이고 전압범위 는 2.5~4.3V이었다.

  • 액정 디스플레이의 백라이트 광원으로 냉음극 방전램프(CCFL: Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)가 일반적으로 사용된다 최근 LCD 모니터의 두께는 갈수록 얇아지며, 화면은 넓어지고 있는 대형화 추세이다. 기존의 권선형 변압기를 이용 인버터를 구성하여 멀티램프를 구동하고 있지만 이는 코어나 권선 손실에 의한 효율 저하와 부피나 중량의 증가, 그리고 과열에 의한 화재의 위험성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 압전 변압기를 이용한 멀티램프 구동용 인버터를 설계 지침에 따라 구성하였다. 인버터 하나로 압전변압기를 병렬로 연결하는 방식을 이용하였고, 또한 전류 부담이 적은 외관 전극 형광 램프(EEFL: External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp)를 이용한 멀티램프 구동 방법을 압전 인버터에 적용 가능한지 고찰하였다. 적용한 방식으로는 풀-브리지 (Full-Bridge)회로를 응용하였다.

Relationship between Field Emission Property and Composition of Carbon Nanotube Paste for Large Area Cold Cathode

  • CNT paste was fabricated by mixture of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) powder, organic vehicles and inorganic binder. Then firing process was performed at different temperature under air and $N_{2}$ atmosphere. It was found that emission property of CNT paste was changed by firing temperature and time due to interaction between remained resins and CNT powder. We obtained good emission property from CNT paste treated at $350^{\circ}C$ for 10 min.
