It is difficult to have the existing structural optimization using coupled field analysis from CFD to structure analysis when the structure is influenced of fluid. Therefore in an initial model of this study after doing parameter design from the background of shape using topology optimization. and it is making a approximation formula using by the CFD-structure coupled-field analysis and design of experiment. By using this result, we conducted multi-objective optimization. We could confirm efficiency of stochastic method applicable in the scene of structure reliability design to be needed multi-objective optimization. And we presented a way of design that could overcome the time and space restriction in structural design such as the butterfly valve with the less experiment.

The structural design problems are acknowledged to be commonly multi-criteria in nature. The various multi-criteria optimization methods are reviewed and the most efficient and easy-to-use Pareto optimal solution methods are applied to structural optimization of a truss and a beam. The result of the study shows that Pareto optimal solution methods can easily be applied to structural optimization with multiple objectives, and the designer can have a choice from those Pareto optimal solutions to meet an appropriate design environment.

This study investigates the multi-objective fuzzy optimization of crowbar resistance for the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) low-voltage ride-through (LVRT). By integrating the crowbar resistance of the crowbar circuit as a decision variable, a multi-objective model for crowbar resistance value optimization has been established to minimize rotor overcurrent and to simultaneously reduce the DFIG reactive power absorbed from the grid during the process of LVRT. A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is applied to solve this optimization problem. In the proposed GA, the value of the crowbar resistance is represented by floating-point numbers in the GA population. The MOGA emphasizes the non-dominated solutions and simultaneously maintains diversity in the non-dominated solutions. A fuzzy-set-theory-based is employed to obtain the best solution. The proposed approach has been evaluated on a 3 MW DFIG LVRT. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach for solving the crowbar resistance multi-objective optimization problem in the DFIG LVRT.
In a flexible multi-body dynamic system the typical topological optimization method for structures cannot be directly applied, as the stiffness varies with position. In this paper, the topological optimization of the flexible multi-body dynamic system is converted into structural optimization using the equivalent static load method. First, the actual boundary conditions of the control system and the approximate stiffness curve of the mechanism are obtained from a flexible multi-body dynamical simulation. Second, the finite element models are built using the absolute nodal coordination for different positions according to the stiffness curve. For efficiency, the static reanalysis method is utilized to solve these finite element equilibrium equations. Specifically, the finite element equilibrium equations of key points in the stiffness curve are fully solved as the initial solution, and the following equilibrium equations are solved using a reanalysis method with an error controlled epsilon algorithm. In order to identify the efficiency of the elements, a non-dimensional measurement is introduced. Finally, an improved evolutional structural optimization (ESO) method is used to solve the optimization problem. The presented method is applied to the optimal design of a die bonder. The numerical results show that the presented method is practical and efficient when optimizing the design of the mechanism.

In the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) streaming systems, peers randomly form a network overlay to share video resources with a data scheduling scheme. A data scheduling scheme can have a great impact on system performance, which should achieve two optimal objectives at the same time ideally. The two optimization objectives are to improve the perceived video quality and maximize the network throughput, respectively. Maximizing network throughput means improving the utilization of peer's upload bandwidth. However, maximizing network throughput will result in a reduction in the perceived video quality, and vice versa. Therefore, to achieve the above two objects simultaneously, we proposed a new data scheduling scheme based on multi-objective particle swarm optimization data scheduling scheme, called MOPSO-DS scheme. To design the MOPSO-DS scheme, we first formulated the data scheduling optimization problem as a multi-objective optimization problem. Then, a multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed by encoding the neighbors of peers as the position vector of the particles. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrated the MOPSO-DS scheme could improve the system performance effectively.

This paper discusses the multi-level optimization method in dynamic optimization problems through stiffened plate of ship structures. In structural optimization the computational cost increases rapidly as the number of design variables increases. And we need a great amount of cal-culation and time on problems of modified dynamic characteristics of large and complicated struc-tures. In this paper the multi-level optimization is proposed which decreases computational time and cost. the dynamic optimum designs of stiffened plate that control the natural frequency and minimize weight subjected to constraints condition are derived. The way to apply the multi-level optimization methods in this study follow: In the first step the dynamic characteristics is controlled for the two-dimensional model of stiffened plate by sensitivity analysis and quasi-least squares methods. In the second step the cross-section of the stiffener is decided so that the weight is minimized under needed constraints by the steepest descent or ascent method. In the third the three-dimensional model is made based on the results of the first step and the second step confirmation and finer tuning of the objective function are carried out. It is shown that the results are effective in the optimum modification for dynamic characteristics of the stiffened plate.

This paper presents a new approach to solve the multi area unit commitment problem (MAUCP) using an evolutionary programming based particle swarm optimization (EPPSO) method. The objective of this paper is to determine the optimal or near optimal commitment schedule for generating units located in multiple areas that are interconnected via tie lines. The evolutionary programming based particle swarm optimization method is used to solve multi area unit commitment problem, allocated generation for each area and find the operating cost of generation for each hour. Joint operation of generation resources can result in significant operational cost savings. Power transfer between the areas through the tie lines depends upon the operating cost of generation at each hour and tie line transfer limits. Case study of four areas with different load pattern each containing 7 units (NTPS) and 26 units connected via tie lines have been taken for analysis. Numerical results showed comparing the operating cost using evolutionary programming-based particle swarm optimization method with conventional dynamic programming (DP), evolutionary programming (EP), and particle swarm optimization (PSO) method. Experimental results show that the application of this evolutionary programming based particle swarm optimization method has the potential to solve multi area unit commitment problem with lesser computation time.
The present work proposes a self-controlled multi-stage optimization method for damage identification of structures utilizing standard particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Damage identification problem is formulated as an inverse optimization problem where damage severity in each element of the structure is considered as optimization variables. An efficient objective function is formed using the first few frequencies and mode shapes of the structure. This objective function is minimized by a self-controlled multi-stage strategy to identify and quantify the damage extent of the structural members. In the first stage, standard PSO is utilized to get an initial solution to the problem. Subsequently, the algorithm identifies the most damage-prone elements of the structure using an adaptable threshold value of damage severity. These identified elements are included in the search space of the standard PSO at the next stage. Thus, the algorithm reduces the dimension of the search space and subsequently increases the accuracy of damage prediction with a considerable reduction in computational cost. The efficiency of the proposed method is investigated and compared with available results through three numerical examples considering both with and without noise. The obtained results demonstrate the accuracy of the present method can accurately estimate the location and severity of multi-damage cases in the structural systems with less computational cost.
This study treats the criteria, considering the fuzziness occurred by optimization design. And we applied two weighting methods to show the relative importance of criteria. This study develops multi-objective optimization programs implementing plain stress analysis by FEM and discrete optimization design uniformaly. The developed program performs a sample design of 10-member steel truss. This study can carry over the multi-objective optimization based on total system fuzzy-genetic algorithms while performing the stress analysis and optimization design. Especially, when general optimization with unreliable constraints is cannot be solve this study can make optimization design closed to realistic with fuzzy theory.
The printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) with airfoil fins has the benefits of high compactness, high efficiency and superior heat transfer performance. A novel multi-objective optimization approach is presented to design the airfoil fin PCHE in this paper. Three optimization design variables (the vertical number, the horizontal number and the staggered number) are obtained by means of dimensionless airfoil fin arrangement parameters. And the optimization objective is to maximize the Nusselt number (Nu) and minimize the Fanning friction factor (f). Firstly, in order to investigate the impact of design variables on the thermal-hydraulic performance, a parametric study via the design of experiments is proposed. Subsequently, the relationships between three optimization design variables and two objective functions (Nu and f) are characterized by an improved particle swarm optimization-backpropagation artificial neural network. Finally, a multi-objective optimization is used to construct the Pareto optimal front, in which the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II is used. The comprehensive performance is found to be the best when the airfoil fins are completely staggered arrangement. And the best compromise solution based on the TOPSIS method is identified as the optimal solution, which can achieve the requirement of high heat transfer performance and low flow resistance.
