A multi-cavity injection mold system of protein chip for point-of-care with cavity temperature and pressure sensors was proposed in this work. In advance of manufacturing for the multi-cavity injection mold system, a single cavity injection mold system to mold protein chip was considered. Injection molding analysis for the presented system was performed to optimize the process of the molding and suggest guides to design. On the basis of the results for the single cavity system, a multi-cavity injection mold system for protein chip was analyzed, designed and manufactured with cavity temperature and pressure sensors. Results of balanced filling for protein chip models were obtained from the presented mold system.

The flow characteristics of an intermittent fuel injection into a stationary ambient air were investigated using gasoline. The measurements were made by two-channel, air cooling type Phase Doppler Anemometer(PDA) system (DANTEC, 750 MW). And a pintle type injector of MPI (Multi-point Port Injection) system was utilized as a fuel injector. The PDA receiver optic was set up in a 60.deg. C forward scatter arrangement to obtain the optimum scattering signal of fuel droplets. The data were obtained by synchronizing PDA system with the fuel injection period, and the axial and radial velocity and turbulent components of fuel droplets were mainly measured for the analysis of temporal and spatial distribution depending upon the fuel injection pressures.
The automotive industry is making various efforts to cope with ever-increasing exhaust emissions and fuel economy regulations. However, this often results in degraded NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) performance. For example, we proposed the causes and improvements for the noise generated by the high-pressure pump noise of a gasoline engine, the change of acceleration noise due to dual injection of MPI (Multi-Point Injection) and GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection), the noise of a gasoline turbocharger, and the combustion noise deteriorated due to the injection parameters calibration in a diesel engine. Since these noises are caused by the high frequency noise, and the driver feels the rough sound quality, efforts to reduce them with proper NVH measures are indispensable.

For digital engine control timings, such as ignition, are based on the crank shaft angle. Therefore, it is very important that the angle of the crank shaft can be detected with accuracy for optimal ignition timing. Sequential multi-point injection(MPI) systems that have independent injection events for each cylinder, are used to inject an accurate quantity of fuel, and to cope with varying engine status promptly. In this study the distributorless ignition timing. A crankshaft position sensor has been installed such that it generates a number of pulses per crankshaft revolution to permit accurate detection of the crank shaft angle. An event detecting algorithm has been developed, which detects the crank shaft pulses generated by the position sensor, and the software outputs the required control signals at given crank angle values. We clarified that the hardware method is the best way to increase the performance of the control system, because the event detecting duration T(1+2)max becomes zero.
Backfire occurrence must be controlled for the practical use of hydrogen fueled engine. It was found from preceeding studies that crevice volume around piston rings could effect a backfire occurrence. In this study, a possible countermeasure to backfire occurrence was evaluated by using multi point ignition method around piston ring. The results showed that backfire limited equivalence ratio was increased by a little due to a enhancing effect of mixture combustion around piston crevice volume.

Effects of fuel injection timing on the lean misfire limit of a sequential MPI SI engine has been investigated. To investigate the interaction of injection timing and intake flow characteristics, so called axial stratification phenomena, 4 kinds of different intake swirl port of the same combustion chamber geometry have been teated in a single cylinder engine test bench. And 2 kinds of fuel, gasoline and compressed natural gas(CNG), were used to see the effect of liquid fuel vaporization. Result shows that combination of port swirl and injection timing governs the lean misfire limit and lean misfire limit envelopes remain almost the same for a given ratio regardless of engine speed. It is also found that two phase flow has some effects on lean misfire limit.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been used as motor fuel due to its low emissions and low cost. The fuel feeding system has been improved with stringent requirement for exhaust emissions. LPG carburetion system was first introduced, then the system has been changed to a precisely controlled gas injection system, but this gas feeding system has a limitation on improving power output. In order to improve an engine performance, a multi-point port injection system was introduced recently, and a liquid direct injection system into a cylinder was suggested as a next generation system to maximize a fuel economy as well as a power. This study addresses the analysis of the LPG spray from diesel injectors. The spray images are visualized and compared with diesel sprays in a wide injection pressure range. The photographs show much wider dispersion of LPG sprays.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is regarded as an alternative fuel for spark ignition engine due to similar or even higher octane number. In addition, LPG has better fuel characteristics including high vaporization characteristic and low carbon/hydrogen ratio leading to a reduction in carbon dioxide emission. Recently, development of LPG direct injection system started to improve performance of vehicles fuelled with LPG. However, spray characteristics of LPG were not well understood, which is should be known to develop injector for LPG direct injection engines. In this study, effects of operation condition including ambient pressure, temperature, and injection pressure on spray properties of n-butane were evaluated and compared to gasoline in a multi-hole injector. As general characteristics of both fuels, spray penetration becomes smaller with an increase of ambient pressure as well as a reduction in the injection pressure. However, it is found that evaporation of n-butane was faster compared to gasoline under all experimental condition. As a result, spray penetration of n-butane was shorter than that of gasoline. This result was due to higher vapor pressure and lower boiling point of n-butane. On the other hand, spray angle of both fuels do not vary much except under high ambient temperature conditions. Furthermore, spray shape of n-butane spray becomes completely different from that of gasoline at high ambient temperature conditions due to flash boiling of n-butane.

Injection-compression molding parts are many cases with complicated boundary condition which is difficult to analysis of mold characteristics precisely. In this study, the effects of various process parameters such as multi-point gate location, initial charge volume, injection time and pressure have been investigated using finite element method to fomulate the melt front advancement during the mold filling process. A general governing equation for tracking the filling process during injection-compression molding is applied to volume of fluid method. To verify the results of present analysis, they are compared with those of the other paper. The results show a strong effect of processing conditions as a result of variations in the three-dimensional complex geometry model.
