We achieved 95% visibility in the Hong-Ou-Mandel interference experiment while we achieved only 56% visibility in a previous report. We used a 120 mW 405 nm single-mode continuous wave laser, a 5-mm-thick type-1 ${\beta}$-barium borate single crystal, standard Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer optics, two avalanche photodiode single-photon counters, and a homemade coincidence counting unit. The photon collection unit was the key difference between the present study and the previous study. In the present experiment, we used single-mode optical fibers for photon collection, which suppressed accidental coincidence between-different mode photons by acting as a spatial filter because of its core size being much smaller than a multi-mode fiber.
This paper describes the application of a wireless sensor network to a 31 meter-tall medieval tower located in the city of Trento, Italy. The effort is motivated by preservation of the integrity of a set of frescoes decorating the room on the second floor, representing one of most important International Gothic artworks in Europe. The specific application demanded development of customized hardware and software. The wireless module selected as the core platform allows reliable wireless communication at low cost with a long service life. Sensors include accelerometers, deformation gauges, and thermometers. A multi-hop data collection protocol was applied in the software to improve the system's flexibility and scalability. The system has been operating since September 2008, and in recent months the data loss ratio was estimated as less than 0.01%. The data acquired so far are in agreement with the prediction resulting a priori from the 3-dimensional FEM. Based on these data a Bayesian updating procedure is employed to real-time estimate the probability of abnormal condition states. This first period of operation demonstrated the stability and reliability of the system, and its ability to recognize any possible occurrence of abnormal conditions that could jeopardize the integrity of the frescos.

The small radio frequency tracking radar is a tracking system with a radio frequency sensor that identifies a target through all-weather radio frequency signal processing for a target and searches, detects and tracks the target for the major target. In this paper, we describe the development of a board equipped with TMS320C6678 and XILINX FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), a high-speed multi-core DSP that acquires target information through all-weather radio frequency and identifies a target through real-time signal processing. We propose DSP-FPGA combination architecture for DSP and FPGA selection and signal processing, and also explain the design of SRIO for high-speed data transmission.

10 m3/min (CMM) multi-pollutants abatement system was successfully developed by effectively integrating ozone oxidation, wet scrubbing, and wet electrostatic precipitation for the simultaneous removal of particulate matters (PMs) and NOx in a semiconductor fabrication process. The sophisticated control and optimization of operating parameters were conducted to maximize the destruction and removal efficiency of NOx. In particular, the stability test of a wet electrostatic precipitator was carried out in parallel for 30 days to validate the reliability of core parts including a power supply. An O3/NO ratio, which is the most important operating parameter, was optimized to be about 1.5 and the optimization of wet scrubbing with a reducing agent made it possible to analyze the contribution of neutralization reaction.
A single write operation in a file system can modify multiple data, but these changes in the file system are not atomically written to disk. Thus, for the consistency of the file system, conventional journaling guarantees crash consistency instead of sacrificing the system performance. It is known that using non-volatile memory as a journal space can alleviate performance degradation due to low latency and byte-level accessibility of non-volatile memory. However, none of the journaling techniques considering non-volatile memory provide scalability. In this paper, journal space on non-volatile memory is divided into multiple regions for scalable journaling, thus dispersing concentrated operations in one region. Second, the journal area-specific operator structure is used to accelerate data write operations to storage devices. We apply the proposed technique to JFS to evaluate it on multi-core servers equipped with high-performance storage devices. The evaluation results show that the proposed technique performs better than the existing technique of the NVM-based journaling file system.
Mathematical modeling has been a crucial topic in mathematics education as students' problem solving competency are regarded as a core skill for future society. Despite of the importance of mathematical modeling in school mathematics, there have been very limited studies relating pre-service teachers' knowledge and perceptions on mathematical modeling. In this vein, this study aimed to investigate pe-service mathematics teachers' perceptions on mathematical model, mathematical modeling and educational use of mathematical modeling, and their relationships. The current study utilized a survey consisted of 18 items. The responses of 210 pre-service mathematics teachers to the survey items were quantitatively analyzed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the structural equation model, and multi group analysis. The results of analysis of variance revealed that pre-service teachers in difference groups (majors, grades, and experiences with mathematical modeling) showed statistically significant differences in mean values. Moreover, according to the results from the structural equation modeling analysis, pre-service mathematics teachers' perceptions on mathematical model and modeling affected their perceptions on educational use of mathematical modeling. In addition, depending on their pre-experiences with mathematical modeling, pre-service teachers represented a different relationship between perceptions on mathematical modeling and educational use of mathematical modeling. Implications for future studies and mathematics classrooms were discussed.
This paper studies the harmonic characteristics of ship electric propulsion systems and their treatment methods. It also adopts effective measures to suppress and prevent ship power systems from affecting ship operation due to the serious damage caused by harmonics. Firstly, the harmonic characteristics of a ship electric propulsion system are reviewed and discussed. Secondly, aiming at problems such as resonant frequency and filter characteristics variations, resonance point migration, and unstable filtering performances in conventional passive filters, a method for fully tuning of a passive dynamic tunable filter (PDTF) is proposed to realize harmonic suppression. Thirdly, to address the problems of the uncontrollable inductance L of traditional air gap iron core reactors and the harmonics of power electronic impedance converters (PEICs), this paper proposes an electromagnetic coupling reactor with impedance transformation and harmonic suppression characteristics (ECRITHS), with the internal filter (IF) designed to suppress the harmonics generated by PEICs. The ECRITHS is characterized by both harmonic suppression and impedance change. Fourthly, the ECRITHS is investigated. This investigation includes the harmonic suppression characteristics and impedance transformation characteristics of the ECRITHS at the fundamental frequency, which shows the good performance of the ECRITHS. Simulation and experimental evaluations of the PDTF are carried out. Multiple PDTFs can be configured to realize multi-order simultaneous dynamic filtering, and can effectively eliminate the current harmonics of ship electric propulsion systems. This is done to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the supply currents to well below the 5% limit imposed by the IEEE-519 standard. The PDTF also can eliminate harmonic currents in different geographic places by using a low voltage distribution system. Finally, a detailed discussion is presented, with challenges and future implications discussed. The research results are intended to effectively eliminate the harmonics of ship electric power propulsion systems and to improve the power quality of ship power systems. This is of theoretical and practical significance for improving the power quality and power savings of ship power systems.
The Web environment of the frontend domain is increasingly competitive to preempt the new standard of presentation layer. N-Screen, a service that enables users to seamlessly use one content in various devices in Korea, is competing for market preemption by recognizing it as a core service of the future. In the cloud computing, N-screen is a typical service type. However, most of the frontend research required for groupware in enterprise environments has been limited to responsive web design for the web and native apps for mobile. Gradually, the need for MVC design patterns is increasingly widening in enterprise environments to overcome the cultural differences of companies and to support one source multi-use strategy supporting multiple devices and development productivity. Therefore, in this study, we will analyze and design JPetStore with hybrid application design based on Spring MVC, e-government standard framework environment of next generation web standard, and provide reference model of frontend hybrid apps design in future enterprise environment.

In order to improve the fuel economy and dynamic behavior of automobiles, the weight reduction tendency of automobile parts is obvious. Also, in order to maximize assembly and maintenance convenience, various parts are integrated and modularized. Multi-piece methods require many manufacturing processes and become a factor of lowering the strength of parts. It is advantageous to overcome the disadvantages by integrally manufacturing to reduce the processing steps and ensure the strength of the parts. However, when it is necessary to process in a narrow space inside the part, it is impossible to process with the existing spindle. The angle head spindle is only a component of a machine tool, but it is a core part that requires high technology and is highly utilizable in products requiring high precision machining. Therefore, various and continuous studies needs for angle head spindles in areas such as vibration absorption, operational safety, excellent dimensional stability, and strength. In this paper, we propose an optimal design for angle head spindle by performing structural analysis and shape optimization for angle head spindle gear and case.
