Comparisons of the Particle Emission Characteristics Between GDI and MPI Vehicles (GDI와 MPI 자동차의 미세입자 배출특성 비교)

  • As the regulations for Particulate Matter (PM) and Particle Number (PN) emissions from Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) Vehicle stringent recently, a lot of studies have been made on the emission characteristics of PM and PN. In this study, PM and PN emission characteristics were compared to GDI and Multi Port Injection (MPI) Vehicles using the Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) measurement equipment. And driving mode is divided into normal driving mode (CVS-75, NEDC, NIER 6, NIER 9) and a constant speed driving mode (10 km/h, 35 km/h, 80 km/h, 110 km/h) to evaluate the characteristics in the various operating conditions. In the results, most of the driving mode, PM and PN were emitted from GDI Vehicle more than MPI Vehicle. However, in the constant speed mode of 110 km/h, PM and PN from MPI Vehicle were also a lot of emission. It is determined to cause a difficulty in the fuel injection control of the MPI Vehicle.

  • This paper addresses the simulation methodology of signal integrity and power integrity for mobile display modules. The proposed technique can be applied to analyse a circuit module which consist of connector, FPCB and driver ICs. The recent demand of serial interconnection technology in the mobile display industry needs delicate impedance control of signal and power traces to prohibit system malfunctioning and to reduce electromagnetic field radiation. Based on the S-parameter and Z-parameter analysis, we analyse the correlation between frequency-domain and time-domain measurements. With multi-port macros, signal integrity can be included in power integrity analysis in time domain.

  • A 16-bit adiabatic low-power Microprocessor is designed. The processor consists of control block, multi-port register file, program counter, and ALU. An efficient four-phase clock generator is also designed to provide power clocks for adiabatic processor. Adiabatic circuits based on efficient charge recovery logic(ECRL), are designed 0.35,${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology. Conventional CMOS processor is also designed to compare the energy consumption of microprocessors. Simulation results show that the power consumption of the adiabatic microprocessor is reduced by a factor of 2.9∼3.1 compared to that of conventional CMOS microprocessor.

Movement identification model of port container crane based on structural health monitoring system

  • This study presents a steel container crane movement analysis and assessment based on structural health monitoring (SHM). The accelerometers are used to monitor the dynamic crane behavior and a 3-D finite element model (FEM) was designed to express the static displacement of the crane under the different load cases. The multi-input single-output nonlinear autoregressive neural network with external input (NNARX) model is used to identify the crane dynamic displacements. The FEM analysis and the identification model are used to investigate the safety and the vibration state of the crane in both time and frequency domains. Moreover, the SHM system is used based on the FEM analysis to assess the crane behavior. The analysis results indicate that: (1) the mean relative dynamic displacement can reveal the relative static movement of structures under environmental load; (2) the environmental load conditions clearly affect the crane deformations in different load cases; (3) the crane deformations are shown within the safe limits under different loads.

Neural Network-Based Modeling for Fuel Consumption Prediction of Vehicle (차량 연료 소모량 예측을 위한 신경회로망 기반 모델링)

  • This paper presented neural network modeling method using vehicle data to predict fuel consumption. To acquire data for training and testing the proposed neural network, medium-class gasoline vehicle drove at downtown and parameters measured include speed, engine rpm, throttle position sensor (TPS), and mass air flow (MAF) as input data, and fuel consumption as target data from OBD-II port. Multi layer perception network was used for nonlinear mapping between the input and the output data. It was observed that the neural network model can predict the vehicle quite well with mean squared error was $1.306{\times}10^{-6}$ for the fuel consumption.

The survey on the skin color and pigmentation index in Korean adult subjects

  • We selected 113 subjects (male:59, female:54) in 20 to 29 age and observed the skin color difference between female and male. Also we measured the minimal persistent pigment darkening dose (MPPD) in same subjects. The skin colors of upper inner arm and back were measured with chromameter (CR10, Minolta, Japan) which represents skin color as $L^{*}$, $a^{*}$, and $b^{*}$ in value. MPPD was measured with solar simulator multi-port 601(Solarlight Co. USA). All statistical analysis was performed on the computer software package SPSS 8.0. The skin colors between male and female was significant difference in back and upper inner arm. There was significant difference of skin colors between back and upper inner arm in both male and female. There was no relationship existed between the values of MPPD and skin color ( $L^{*}$ $a^{*}$ $b^{*}$) of back in both male and female. As a result of survey, we knew that there was apparent difference of skin color between back and upper inner arm due to gender. Also we hope these data will be helpful to study on the correlation of the pigmentation index and skin color.(omitted)omitted)ted)

  • This paper presents results of a study for development and application of container massive transportation system. The system is aimed to improve competing power of Korean container ports. This paper selects Double stack Multi-Trailer System (DMTS) under consideration of pros-con analysis between three systems alternatives as well as operation process of existing Korean container terminal companies. An analysis of turning radius is undertaken for applying the system. Key elementary technologies was derived by patent analysis. DMTS has no problems in utilization to existing Korean container ports. Further, the system is expected to highly potential to improve operational efficiency in the container ports thanks to its high unit transportation capacity.

Design of The Bluetooth Negative Resistor Oscillator using the Improved Spiral Inductor (향상된 나선형 인덕터를 이용한 블루투스 부성저항발진기 설계)

  • In this paper, we designed a spiral inductor and voltage controlled oscillator with the negative resistor for the bluetooth receiver by using 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ 1-poly 5-metal CMOS n-well process. The proposed inductor, which applies multi layer metal structure, is a structure that decreases resistance value by increasing he metal thickness. As the resistance value decreases, the quality factor Q has improved. Also, voltage-controlled oscillator is designed applying 1 port negative resistance, and changes its oscillating frequency by varying outside capacitor values. The simulation results show that oscillating frequency is 2.33~2.58GHz changing from 2pF to 14pF, and the oscillator has oscillating power over 0dBm.

Single-port robot-assisted prosthetic breast reconstruction with the da Vinci SP Surgical System: first clinical report

  • Robot-assisted nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction is currently performed in an attempt to seek smaller and indistinct incisions. Robotic surgery system has been evolving under the concept of minimal invasive technique which is a recent trend in surgery. One of the latest version is the da Vinci SP Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical). In this report, we will share our experiences. Two patients underwent robot-assisted nipple-sparing mastectomy, each followed by immediate robot-assisted expander insertion and prepectoral direct-to-implant breast reconstruction, respectively. There was no open conversion or major postoperative complication. One patient experienced mild infection, which was resolved by intravenous antibiotic treatment. Simple docking process, multi-joint instruments, and thirdarm functionality are among the new surgical system's advantages. The present cases suggest that robot-assisted nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction using the da Vinci SP Surgical System is feasible and safe. The promising features and potential application of da Vinci SP in breast reconstruction need further study.

External mechanisms driving ecosystem changes in a coastal wetland, the Mississippi Delta, USA

  • The world's most extensive and active deltas, Louisiana's wetlands, are deteriorating rapidly due to multiple stressors such as the discharge of the Mississippi River, sea-level rise, and coastal retreat, the substantial but spatially and temporally variable impacts. However, the ecological and anthropogenic histories, the mode of environmental changes on a multi-millennial timescale have not been thoroughly documented. This study, a palynology-based multiproxy analysis, investigates hydrological, geological, geochemical, and anthropogenic impacts on southern Louisiana wetlands and a variety of external forcing agents influencing ecological succession. Sediment cores extracted from a small pond on a mangrove-dominate island near Port Fourchon, Louisiana, USA yielded a 4,000-year record. The site has been transformed from freshwater to saline water environments, to a mangrove dominant island over the late Holocene. The multivariate principal component analysis identified the relative strength of external drivers responsible for each ecological shift. The Mississippi River delta cycle (lobe switching) was the dominant driver of ecosystem changes during the late Holocene, while relative sea-level rise, tropical cyclones, climate, and anthropogenic effects have been the main drivers late in the site's history.
