A new method of designing multi-loop PID controllers is presented in this paper. By using the generalized IMC-PID method for multi-loop systems, the optimization problem involved in finding the PID parameters is efficiently simplified to find the optimum closed-loop time constant in a reduced search space. A weighted sum Mp criterion is proposed as a performance cost function to cope with both the performance and robustness of a multi-loop control system. Several illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the improved performance of the multi-loop PID controllers obtained by the proposed design method.

We consider a cell edge environment. In cell edge, a user interfered by signal which is generated by a base stations not including the user. In cell edge environment, that is, there are inter cell interference (ICI) as well as multi user interference (MUI). Coordinated multi-point transmission (CoMP) is a technique which mitigates ICI between base stations. In CoMP, therefore, base stations can coordinate with each other by sharing user state information (CSI) in order to mitigate ICI. To improve sum rate performance in CoMP, each base station should generate optimal user group and transmit data to users selected in the optimal user group. In this paper, we propose a user selection algorithm in CoMP. The proposed method use signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) as criterion of selecting users. Because base station can't measure accurate SINR of users, in this paper, we estimate SINR equation considering ICI as well as MUI. Also, we propose a user selection algorithm based on the estimated SINR. Through MATAL simulation, we verify that the proposed method improves the system sum rate by an average of 1.5 ~ 3 bps/Hz compared to the conventional method.
The polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel containing 1-methy-2-pymolidinone (MP) and sorbitol was preapred by the freeze and thaw method. The release rate of indomethacin from PVA hydrogel was used as a criterion for deciding the optimum formula of hydrogel using the computer optimization technique. The hydrogel of optimum formula was composed of PVA (10 w/v%), MP (0 w/v%) and sorbitol (40 w/v%) and the release rate of indomethacin was 1.981$\mu$g/ml$\cdot{min}^{1/2}$.

For design and performance assessment of a high-level radioactive waste (HLW) disposal system, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) behavior. However, in previous studies for the Korean Reference HLW Disposal System (KRS), thermal analysis was performed to determine the spacing of disposal tunnels and interval of disposition holes without consideration of the coupled THM behavior. Therefore, in this study, TOUGH2-MP/FLAC3D is used to conduct THM modeling for performance assessment of the Korean Reference HLW Disposal System (KRS). The peak temperature remains below the temperature limit of $100^{\circ}C$ for the whole period. A rapid rise of temperature caused by decay heat occurs in the early years, and then temperature begins to decrease as decay heat from the waste decreases. The peak temperature at the bentonite buffer is around $96.2^{\circ}C$ after about 3 years, and peak temperature at the rockmass is $68.2^{\circ}C$ after about 17 years. Saturation of the bentonite block near the canister decreases in the early stage, because water evaporation occurs owing to temperature increase. Then, saturation of the bentonite buffer and backfill increases because of water intake from the rockmass, and bentonite buffer and backfill are fully saturated after about 266 years. The stress is calculated to investigate the effect of thermal stress and swelling pressure on the mechanical behavior of the rockmass. The calculated stress is compared to a spalling criterion and the Mohr-Coulumb criterion for investigation of potential failure. The stress at the rockmass remains below the spalling strength and Mohr-Coulumb criterion for the whole period. The methodology of using the TOUGH2-MP/FLAC3D simulator can be applied to predict the long-term behavior of the KRS under various conditions; these methods will be useful for the design and performance assessment of alternative concepts such as multi-layer and multi-canister concepts for geological spent fuel repositories.
Purpose: The RAM objective is a very important factor that has a great effect on the improvement of the operation ration during the operation maintenance and the reduction of the life cycle cost. It is used as a design criterion during the system development, and its sufficiency should be evaluated during its test evaluation. Method: This study analyzed the cases related to RAM objective setting and suggested the improvement measures. Result: The base data for RAM objective is OMS/MP, which needs to be drawn up under the supervision of the requirement military, and a high-accuracy operating availability should be set through ALDT calculation which reflects the military logistics support environment. In addition, data collection necessary for RAM objective and RAM analysis should be made by supplementing the input data of DELIIS. Conclusion: This study suggests improvement of RAM objective considering for the weapon system.
A numerical study of the performance assesment of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) processes in improved Korean reference disposal system (KRS+) for high-level radioactive waste is conducted using TOUGH2-MP/FLAC3D simulator. Decay heat from high-level radioactive waste increases the temperature of the repository, and it decreases as decay heat is reduced. The maximum temperature of the repository is below a maximum temperature criterion of 100℃. Saturation of bentonite buffer adjacent to the canister is initially reduced due to pore water evaporation induced by temperature increase. Bentonite buffer is saturated 250 years after the disposal of high-level radioactive waste by inflow of groundwater from the surrounding rock mass. Initial saturation of rock mass decreases as groundwater in rock mass is moved to bentnonite buffer by suction, but rock mass is saturated after inflow of groundwater from the far-field area. Stress changes at rock mass are compared to the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion and the spalling strength in order to investigate the potential rock failure by thermal stress and swelling pressure. Additional simulations are conducted with the reduced spacing of deposition holes. The maximum temperature of bentonite buffer exceeds 100℃ as deposition hole spacing is smaller than 5.5 m. However, temperature of about 56.1% volume of bentonite buffer is below 90℃. The methodology of numerical modeling used in this study can be applied to the performance assessment of coupled THM processes for high-level radioactive waste repositories with various input parameters and geological conditions such as site-specific stress models and geothermal gradients.

In practical wireless systems, the erroneous channel state information (CSI) sometimes deteriorates the performance drastically. This paper focuses on robust design of coordinated set planning of coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission, with respect to the feedback delay and link error. The non-ideal channel models involving various uncertainty conditions are given. After defining a penalty factor, the robust net ergodic capacity optimization problem is derived, whose variables to be optimized are the number of coordinated base stations (BSs) and the divided area's radius. By the maximum minimum criterion, upper and lower bounds of the robust capacity are investigated. A practical scheme is proposed to determine the optimal number of cooperative BSs. The simulation results indicate that the robust design based on maxmin principle is better than other precoding schemes. The gap between two bounds gets smaller as transmission power increases. Besides, as the large scale fading is higher or the channel is less reliable, the number of the cooperated BSs shall be greater.

Facial motor evoked potential (FMEP) by multi-pulse transcranial electrical stimulation (mpTES) can complement free-running electromyography (EMG) and direct facial nerve stimulation to predict the functional integrity of the facial nerve during cerebello-pontine angle (CPA) tumor surgery. The purpose of this paper is to examine the standardized test methods and the usefulness of FMEP as a predictor of facial nerve function and to minimize the incidence of facial paralysis as an aftereffect of surgery. TES was delivered through electrode Mz (cathode) - M3/M4 (anode), and extracranially direct distal facial muscle excitation was excluded by the absence of single pulse response (SPR) and by longer onset latency (more than 10 ms). FMEP from the orbicularis oris (o.oris) and the mentalis muscle simultaneously can improve the accuracy and success rate compared with FMEP from the o.oris alone. Using the methods described, we can effectively predict facial nerve outcomes immediately after surgery with a reduction of more than 50% of FMEP amplitude as a warning criterion. In conclusion, along with free-running EMG and direct facial nerve stimulation, FMEP is a useful method to reduce the incidence of facial paralysis as a sequela during CPA tumor surgery.
Objective: Given the considerable disagreement between the Peer Assessment Rating (PAR) index and the American Board of Orthodontics Cast-Radiograph Evaluation, we aimed to develop a novel assessment system-the Improvement and Completion of Outcome (ICO) index-to evaluate the outcome of orthodontic treatment. Methods: Sixteen criteria from 4 major categories were established to represent the pretreatment malocclusion status, as well as the degree of improvement and level of completion of outcome during/after treatment: dental relationship (arch length discrepancy, irregularity, U1-SN, and IMPA); anteroposterior relationship (overjet, right and left molar position, ANB); vertical relationship (anterior overbite, anterior open-bite, lateral open-bite, SN-MP); and transverse relationship (dental midline discrepancy, chin point deviation, posterior cross-bite, occlusal plane cant). The score for each criterion was defined from 0 or -1 (worst) to 5 (ideal value or normal occlusion) in gradations of 1. The sum of the scores in each category indicates the area and extent of the problems. Improvement and completion percentages were estimated based on the pre- and post-treatment total scores and the maximum total score. If the completion percentage exceeded 80%, treatment outcome was considered successful. Results: Two cases, Class I malocclusion and skeletal Class III malocclusion, are presented to represent the assessment procedure using the ICO index. The difference in the level of improvement and completion of treatment outcome can be clearly explained by using 2 percentage values. Conclusions: Thus, the ICO index enables the evaluation of the quality of orthodontic treatment objectively and consecutively throughout the entire treatment process.
Numerous studies have revealed the similarities and discrepancies in two divisions of class II malocclusion, since these malocclusion groups have been postulated to be disparate criterion, much as classified under one diagnostic umbrella. This study was undertaken to describe the craniofacial configurations of class II division 1 and 2, and consequently to discriminate the morphologic differences between the two malocclusion groups in Korean sample. Lateral headfilms of 34 class H division 1 and 29 division 2 were employed, while those of 142 adults of normal occlusion served as a control. The landmarks were digitized and 26 variables were statistically analyzed for one way ANOVA. 1. There manifested no statistically significant difference in maxillary position anteroposteriorly. Normal occlusion group exhibited most anteriorly positioned mandible, whereas class II division 1 showed the most retroposition. Class II division 1 disclosed clockwise rotation tendency of mandible, which resulted in position of the chin Posteriorly. 2. Class II division 1 showed greater in SN to MP, SN to PP significantly than other groups. 3. Class II division 2 showed smaller genial angle and larger mandibular body length than other groups. 4. Class II division 1 revealed greater anterior lower face height than other groups, whereas division 2 dictated significantly greater posterior face height. 5. Class II division 2 expressed the most retroclined lower incisor, while division 1 manifested the most proclination. The largest interincisal angle resided in Class II division 2 group. There were no significant differences in upper molar position anteroposteriorly.
