  • In this study, a modeling method of power-assisted steering systems and driver models for vehicle dynamic analysis using AUTODYN7 is presented. Pressure-flow relations of flow control valve are derived, and the equations of motion of a steering gear are obtained. Combining pressure-flow relations and equations of motion, the steering force can be represented as a function of steering wheel angle or torque. Driver model was modeled based on a PID controller and forward target method. With the steering systems and driver model, various driving tests are conducted using AUTODYN7.

  • The aim of the investigation described in this paper is to study the nonlinear parametric vibrations and stability of a simply-supported viscoelastic beam with an intra-span spring. Taking into account a time-dependent tension inside the beam as the main source of parametric excitations, as well as employing a two-parameter rheological model, the equations of motion are derived using Newton's second law of motion. These equations are then solved via a perturbation technique which yields approximate analytical expressions for the frequency-response curves. Regarding the main parametric resonance case, the local stability of limit cycles is analyzed. Moreover, some numerical examples are provided in the last section.

  • Viscoelastic materials store as well as dissipate energy to the thermal domain under deformation. Two efficient modelling techniques reported in literature use coupled (thermo-mechanical) ATF (Augmenting Thermodynamic Fields) displacements and ADF (Anelastic Displacement Fields) displacements, to represent the constitutive relationship in time domain by using certain viscoelastic parameters. Viscoelastic parameters are first extracted from the storage modulus and loss factor normally reported in hand books with the help of Genetic Algorithm and then constitutive relationships are used to obtain the equations of motion of the continuum after discretizing it with finite beam elements. The equations of motion are solved to get the frequency response function and modal damping ratio. The process may be applied to study the dynamic behaviour of composite beams and rotors comprising of several viscoelastic layers. Dynamic behaviour of a composite beam, formed by concentric layers of steel and aluminium is studied as an example.

  • For the analysis of dynamic contact between a catenary and a pantograph of high-speed electrical train, the numerical solution of the equations of motion of the vehicle pantograph and the catenary system subjected to the contact condition is obtained. The whole equations of motion of the catenary and the pantograph are simultaneously time integrated with the strict application of the contact condition. For the stability of the numerical solution, with the cubic spline interpolation of the catenary displacement, the velocity and acceleration constraints as well as the displacement constraint are imposed on the contact point. Especially it is shown that the Coriolis and centripetal accelerations are critical for the accuracy and stability of the computation.

  • This research is concerned with the dynamic modeling of solar arrays equipped with strain energy hinges(SEH). It is found from experiments that the SEH has nonlinear dynamic characteristics and complex buckling behavior, which is difficult to explain theoretically. In this paper, we use an equivalent one-dimensional nonlinear torsional spring for the SEH. Assuming that solar panels are rigid, we developed the systematic approach for the derivation of the theoretical model for the solar arrays equipped with the multitudes of the SEH. To this end, the kinematic relation of the displacement vector of each body is derived and then applied to the equations of motion. Lagrangian equations of motion are used for the derivations.

  • Sensitivity Analysis(SA) is used to predict how the model response varies according to changes in the model parameters. With SA, confidences in models which are developed to approximate certain processes and their predictions can be increased. The influences of hydrodynamic coefficients on the prediction of manoeuvrability are examined by SA of direct method. The equations of motion used are the standard equations of motion for submarine(Gertler 1967), and submerged bodies with three different appendages are considered. Through numerical simulations of three kinds of sea trials, the sensitivities of motions to hydrodynamic coefficients are found. Changes of sensitivities during trials are found to be highly dependent on the actuator scenarios and geometry of submerged body.

  • This paper is concerned by the controllability results of impulsive neutral stochastic functional integrodifferential equations (INSFIDEs) driven by fractional Brownian motion with infinite delay in a real separable Hilbert space. The controllability results are obtained using stochastic analysis, Krasnoselkii fixed point method and the theory of resolvent operator in the sense of Grimmer. A practical example is provided to illustrate the viability of the abstract result of this work.

  • The method is presented for determining the free vibration characteristics of a rotating blade having nonuniform spanwise properties and cantilever boundary condition. The equations which govern the coupled flapwise, chordwise and torsional motion of such a blade are solved using an integrating matrix method. By expressing the equation of motion in matrix notation, utilizing the integrating matrix as an operator, and applying the boundary condition, the equations are formulated into an eigenvalue problem whose solution may be determined by conventional method. Computed results are compared with experimental data.

  • In this paper, dynamic buckling of truncated conical shell made of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composite is studied. In aerospace industries, this category of structures is utilized extensively due to wide range of engineering applications. To calculate the effective material properties of the nanocomposite, The Mori-Tanaka model is applied. Also, the motion equations are derived with the assistance of the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT), Hamilton's principle and energy method. Besides, In order to solve motion equations and analyze dynamic instability region (DIR) of the structure, mixed model of differential quadrature method (DQM) and Bolotin's method is used. Moreover, investigation of the different parameters effects such as geometrical parameters and volume fraction of CNTs on the analysis of the DIR of the structure is done. In accordance with the obtained results, the DIR will occur at higher frequencies by increasing the volume fraction of CNTs.

  • This paper deals with the dynamic buckling behavior of truncated conical shells composed of carbon nanotube composites, an important area of study in view of their very wide engineering applications in aerospace industries. In this regard, the effective material properties of the nanocomposite have been computed using the Mori-Tanaka model, which has already been established for such analyses. The motion equations ruling the structure's behavior are derived using first order shear deformation theory, Hamilton's principle, and energy method. This will provide adequate background information on its dynamic response. In an effort to probe the dynamic instability region of the structure, differential quadrature method combined with Bolotin's method will be adopted to tackle the resulting motion equations, which enables efficient and accurate analysis. This work considers the effect of various parameters in the geometrical parameters and the volume fraction of CNTs on the structure's DIR. Specifically, it became clear that increasing the volume fraction of CNTs shifted the frequency range of the DIR to higher values, indicating the significant role of nanocomposite composition regarding structure stability.
