LES for Turbulent Duct Flow with Surface Mass Injection and Vortex Shedding (입구 와류발생과 질량분사가 있는 연소실 내부유동의 LES 해석)

  • Hybrid rocket shows interesting characteristics of complicated mixing layers developed by interactions between turbulent oxidizer flow and mass flow from surface due to fuel vaporization. In this study, compressible LES with a ring structure attached at the entrance of the combustor are performed. According to one recent report, adding a ring structure in the middle of the combustor helps increasing regression rate. From the numerical results, it is seen that vortex structures near the wall becomes stronger due to the interaction with surface mass injection, and the local heat flux increases due to the vortices. This phenomenon is obviously related to the generation of dimple structures which are seen in the number of experiments. Also, the ring structure at the entrance induces strong vortex flow which enhances heat transfer to the wall surface and mixing between fuel and oxidizer as well as reaction efficiency.

  • The existing web-based self-directed learning systems are in short for the ability of learning skills assessment. Even worse, hey only give test scores as an indicate for test skills, which is also not a good measure for learning skills assessment and makes it difficult to assess learning skills objectively and to present clear assessment criterion. In this paper, we proposed an improved self-directed learning system using fuzzy logic, which can be controlled by learners themselves and helps to evaluate their on learning process. We also implemented the system on the written examination of Engineer Information Processing. The purposed system lust calculates membership functions of learning tine, learning frequency, testing time, and test score. Using them the final membership functions of learning and test skills are calculated and presented in a graphical, i.e. mon understandable, way to user. The purposed system helps learners to assess their achievement and to plan future schedule, and the survey result on the students used the system also supports that.

Effects of Aging and Aging Method on Physicochemical and Sensory Traits of Different Beef Cuts

  • Wet and dry aging methods were applied to improve the quality of three different beef cuts (butt, rump, and sirloin) from Hanwoo cows (quality grade 2, approximately 50-mon-old). After 28 d of wet aging (vacuum packaged; temperature, $2{\pm}1^{\circ}C$) and dry aging (air velocity, 2-7 m/s; temperature, $1{\pm}1^{\circ}C$; humidity, $85{\pm}10%$), proximate composition, cooking loss, water holding capacity, shear force, color, nucleotides content, and sensory properties were compared with a non-aged control (2 d postmortem). Both wet and dry aging significantly increased the water holding capacity of the butt cuts. Dry aging in all beef cuts induced lower cooking loss than that in wet-aged cuts. Shear force of all beef cuts was decreased after both wet and dry aging and CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ color values in butt and sirloin cuts were higher in both wet and dry aging (p<0.05) groups than those in the non-aged control. Regardless of the aging method used, inosine-5'-monophosphate content among beef cuts was the same. The sensory panel scored significantly higher values in tenderness, flavor, and overall acceptability for dry-aged beef regardless of the beef cuts tested compared to non- and wet-aged cuts. In addition, dry-aged beef resulted in similar overall acceptability among the different beef cuts, whereas that in wet-aged meat was significantly different by different beef cuts. In conclusion, both wet and dry aging improved the quality of different beef cuts; however, dry aging was more suitable for improving the quality of less preferred beef cuts.

Source Emission Rate on Air Pollutants from Portable Gas Range and Optimal Ventilation Rate in Indoor Environment (휴대용 가스렌지 연소에 의한 공기오염물질의 발생량 및 실내환경의 필요 환기량)

  • A series of source tests were conducted to characterize emissions of nitrogen oxide(NOx, NO, $NO_2$), carbon mon oxide(CO), carbon dioxide$(CO_2)$ and total VOCs from portable combustion devices in steady-state using well-mixed chamber. Since use of portable gas range is widespread in houses and restaurants in Korea, it is important to characterize the emission of air pollutants and suggest optimum ventilation rate. Ranges of emission rates of air pollutants from portable gas ranges were $NO \;0.551\sim0.939mg/hr,\;NO_2\;0.354\sim1.080mg/hr,\;NO_x\;1.207\sim1.631mg/hr,\;CO\;1.389\sim4.21mg/hr,\;CO_2\;2426.823\sim2973.495mg/hr$, and VOCs $0\sim0.119mg/h$. Mean of personal exposure and indoor environment level of $NO_2$ by combustion of portable gas range were 74.7 ppb and 65.4 ppb, respectively, suggesting persons using portable gas range in houses and restaurants might be highly exposed. Required ventilation rate to control the air pollutants emitted from portable gas range was maximumly $3.131m^3/hr$ on the basis of $NO_2$ indoor air quality standard.

  • Since the launch of Pokémon GO in 2016, the game has been loved for many users. Although the number of Pokémon GO users has declined, lots of users still enjoy the location-based augmented reality game. From the perspective of game properties and Use & Gratifications theory, this paper investigated the antecedents of continuance intention of Pokémon GO. A total of 258 responses from Pokémon Go users was collected by an online survey. The result of regression analysis showed that attitude toward game characters, attitude toward random game elements, social interaction, competition, and physical activity increased continuance intention. Perceived cost, however, decreased continuance intention. Implications for researchers and practitioners were discussed.

Inbreeding depression of Pacific abalone, Haliotis discus hannai by inbreeding mating experiments (근친교배에 의한 북방전복 (Haliotis discus hannai)의 근교약세 현상)

  • Inbreeding depression may be an avoidable phenomenon for abalone culture. However, only a few studies were carried out on inbreeding depression. In the present study, to demonstrate inbreeding depression in growth trait of Pacific abalone, H. discus hannai, inbreeding and outbreeding families were produced in 2010. Inbred and outbred families from each experiment were reared in same tank until 10 month for the same breed environment. The individual of inbred and outbred were distinguished by paternity test using microsatellite DNA. The shell length between inbred and outbred families was compared. At the results, significantly higher shell length was observed in the outbred families at 10 mon (P < 0.05). These results indicate that inbreeding depression is obviously observed in growth traits in the first generation of full-sib family of the H. discus hannai.

Physicochemical and Sensory Properties of Nanopowdered Chitosan-Added Maribo Cheese during Ripening

  • Nanopowdered chitosan (NPC) has high biological activities, such as blood cholesterol lowering effect and antidiabetic activity. This study is carried out to determine the effects of nano-powdered chitosan-added Maribo cheese (NCMC) for the physicochemical properties and sensory analysis during its ripening at $14^{\circ}C$ for 6 mon. From the results, the moisture and fat levels are not significantly influenced from the addition of chitosan (p>0.05), but ash contents increased with increasing chitosan concentrations and the protein contents decreased with increasing chitosan concentrations. In the short-chain fatty acids analysis during the ripening, the total production is initially 13.79 ppm in 0.2% NCMC and 13.81 ppm in control, and their levels have steadily increased to 59.94 and 53.11 ppm, respectively. For the color levels, the $L^*$ values decreased, while the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values significantly increased during ripening for all samples (p<0.05). In texture analysis, the hardness and gumminess of NCMC significantly decreased as compared to the control during ripening (p<0.05), while the cohesiveness, springiness and chewiness were not significantly different among the treatments (p>0.05). In sensory analysis, the butyric off-flavor and bitterness increased slightly with increasing concentrations of NCMC during ripening. The overall acceptability of 0.2% NCMC held the highest score amongst the samples during the ripening. From the results obtained, the 0.2% NCMC was preferred during the ripening and observed the possibility of functional cheese.

  • This study aims at the decision of geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph(GIUH) model parameter fore the ungaged or the data deficiented Basin, to analyze rainfall runoff relation in river basin by applying queueing theory with geomorphologic factors.The concept of GIUH model is based upon the principle of queueing theory of rain drops which may follow many possible routes during rainfall period within watershed system to ist outlet. Overland flow and stream flow can be simulated, respectively, by linear reservoir and linear channel conceptual models. Basically, the model is a mon-lineal and time variant hydrologic system model. The techniques of applying are adopted subarea method and mean-value method, the watershed is divided according to its stream number and order. To prove it to be applicable, the GIUH model is applied to the Wi-Stream basin of Nak-Dong River(Basin area; 475.53$\textrm{km}^2$), southen part of Korea. The simulated and the observed direct runoff hydrographs are compared with the peak discharge, times to peak and coefficients of efficiency, respectively, and the results show quite satisfactory.Therefore, th GIUH model can be extensively applied for the runoff analysis in the ungaged and the data deficiented basin.

  • Summary of background data: At the wound from life of the human being very regarding at and a healing process the wound in the portion which is important meantime the many research is accomplished and healing process at the wound the research is small very from the physical therapy territory. Purpose: This study was performed to examine the effects of cold therapy and pulsed ultrasound treatment in the process of acute wound healing. To this end, we measured changes in the length of the wounds, and observed tissues through an optical microscope in order to evaluate the healing process of the acute wounds. Methods: We divided twenty Sprague-Dawley rats into four experimental groups of five rats each and treated them for three days after wound creation. Then we extracted tissues from the wounds on day 6th after wound creation and then took them out for hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. We measured changes in the length of the wounds every other day. Result: We were able to detect significant statistical differences in the cold therapy and pulsed ultrasound-treated wounds compared with control wounds. We observed tissues through an optical microscope and found the tissues in cold therapy and pulsed ultrasound-treated wounds healed well. Conclusions: Overall results indicated that the use of cold therapy and pulsed ultrasound treatment were effective in the process of acute wound healing.

  • The estimated annual catch of river fishes in the lower part of the Naktong River was derived from the questionnaire, as a part of the fundamental investigation which was carried out for the development of fisheries In that region during the period of May 1967, to June 1968. The data were submitted by fishermen, and the area covered for the present investigation is shown in Fig.1. The annual catch of the region was estimated to be about 500 tons, excluding the mussel Cerbicula elatior. Prussian carp Carassius carassius was the largest in amount followed by com-mon carp Cyprinus carpio, and then goby Synechogobius hasta, Japanese eel Anguilla japonica, mullet Mugil cephalus, ect. and in that order. Major species of the fishes of this region belong to the carp family Cyprinidae, its species counting 23 from the collection during the observation period, and the total number of species was 40, these belonging to 14 families. But occasional severe drought heavily increase the salt content of the region, and at that time the major catch of fish becomes marine fishes such as Harengula zunasi, Clupanodon Punctatus, etc.
