Surface Order of Hexagonal Columnar Mesophases Induced by Molecular Assembly

  • We investigate the surface order, defects and morphology of hexagonal columnar mesophases, Having a crown ether at one end which forms the center of the column and three fluorinated tails at the other, The orientation of the columns was successfully controlled by surface anchoring: Columns were aligned perpendicularly to an evaporated carbon surface, and the planar alignment do asymmetric compounds was induced by a water surface. TEM images show that there is a high degree of perfection in the packing do the cylinders. The hexagonal columnar mesophase (F(sub)h) was confirmed by direct images and the corresponding electron diffractions, where ordered cylindrical moieties are packed on a hexagonal lattice. The column of 12F8-ABG-15C5 was much straighter, compared with that of 12F8-AG-B15C5, resulting from the degrees of regular stacking. Elementary edge dislocation, grain boundary and +1/2 disclination have been observed, although the defects are generally rare.

Two-Photon Absorption Cross Sections of Dithienothiophene-Based Molecules

  • We performed nonlinear transmission measurements and quantum-chemical calculations on dithienothiophene(DTT)-based molecules to gain insight into the effect of acceptor and donor groups on two-photon absorption(TPA) properties. The TPA intensity showed dispersion characteristics of the single-photon absorption spectrum. When the molecules included an asymmetric donor-acceptor pair, the single- and two-photon absorption maximum wavelengths were red-shifted more than when the molecules had a symmetric donor-donor structure. We interpreted this result as indicating that the $S_2$ state plays the dominating role in the absorption process of molecules with a symmetric structure. The experimental TPA ${\delta}$ values at the absorption peak wavelength showed a dependence on the structural variations. We found the self-consistent force-field theory and Hartree-Fock Hamiltonian with single configuration interaction formalism to be valid for evaluating TPA ${\delta}$. Although the quantum-chemical calculations slightly underestimated the experimental ${\delta}$ values obtained from nonlinear trans -mission measurements, they reasonably predicted the dependence of the ${\delta}$ value on the structural variations. We confirmed the role of molecular symmetry by observing that donor-donor substituted structure gave the highest experimental and theoretical TPA ${\delta}$ values and that the donor-acceptor substituted structure showed a greater red-shift in the TPA absorption maximum wavelength. Overall, the theoretical ${\delta}$ values of DTT-based molecules were in the order of $10^{-46}\;cm^4{\cdot}s{\cdot}photon^{-1}$ and are higher than that of AF-50 by nearly two orders of magnitude.

Dielectric Study of Methyl Acrylate-Alcohol Mixtures Using Time Domain Reflectometry

  • Dielectric studies of methyl acrylate with 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-heptanol and 1-octanol binary mixtures have been carried out over the frequency range from 10 MHz to 10 GHz at temperatures of 283, 293, 303 and 313 K using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) for various concentrations. The Kirkwood correlation factor and excess inverse relaxation time were determined and discussed to yield information on the molecular structure and dynamics of the mixture. The values of the static dielectric constant, relaxation time and the Kirkwood correlation factor decrease with increased concentration of methyl acrylate in alcohol. The Bruggman plot shows a non-linearity of the curves for all the systems studied indicates the heterointeraction which may be due to hydrogen bonding of the OH group of alcohol with C=O of the methyl acrylate. The excess inverse relaxation time values are negative for all the systems at all the temperatures indicates that the solute-solvent interaction hinders the rotation of the dipoles of the system.

초음파 혈관 영상의 상호적 영상 분할 (Interactive image segmentation for ultrasound vascular imaging)

  • 초음파 영상 진단 장치에서 획득한 데이터로부터 진단 객체를 추출하기 위한 영상 분할은 질병의 효과적인 진단을 위하여 필수적인 전처리 과정으로 인식되고 있으며, 지금까지 많은 분할 기법들이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 혈관 초음파 영상의 다양한 응용 및 진단법 개발을 위하여 기초 전처리과정으로서 graph cut 알고리즘에 의한 상호적인 영상분할법을 제시한다. 일반영상 및 혈관 초음파 영상에 대하여 전경(foreground)과 배경(background)의 제약조건을 주고 영상분할 처리하여, 원하는 object에 대한 분할 결과를 얻었다. 향후, 이러한 일련의 처리 과정이 실시간으로 처리되면 새로운 초음파 진단법으로 발전시켜 나갈 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

나노구조 단분자막의 전기적 특성 연구 (A Study of Electrical Characteristics of Nano-Structural Monolayers)

  • Dendrimers represent a new class of synthetic macromoleculcs characterized by a regularly branched treelike structure. Multiple branching yields a large number of chain ends that distinguish dendrimers from conventional star-like polymers and microgels. The azobenzene dendrimer is one of the dendrimeric macromolecules that include the azo-group exhibiting a photochromic character. Due to the presence of the charge transfer element of the azo-group and its rod-shaped structure, these compounds are expected to have potential interest in electronics and photoelectronics, especially in nonlinear optics. In the present paper, we give pressure stimulation to organic thin films and detect the induced displacement current. Functional photoisometrization organic molecular the photo-stimulus to organic monomolecular L films and LB films of dendrimer and 8A5H were performed. The 8A5H organic monolayer in case of pressure stimulus occurred that positive course but in case of the photo-stimulus compared positive and negative. It is assumed that generation forms of displacement current were measured when photo-stimulus for impression.

지방산 LB초박막의 수평방향에 대한 유기가스 반응특성 (Organic Gas Response Characteristics for Horizontal Direction of Fatty Acid LB Ultra-thin Films)

  • Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films which have high ordered orientation and ordering structure are fabricated by LB method which deposit the ultra-thin films of organic materials at a molecular level. The electrical characteristics of stearic acid LB ultra-thin films for the horizontal direction were investigated to develop the gas sensor using LB ultra-thin films. The optimal deposition condition to deposit the LB ultra-thin films was obtained from $\pi-A$ isotherms and the deposition status of stearic acid LB ultra-thin films was verified by the measurement of deposition ratio, UV-absorbance, and electrical properties for LB ultra-thin films. The conductivity of stearic acid LB ultra-thin films for horizontal direction was about $10_{-8}[S/cm]$. The activation energy for LB ultra-thin films with respect to variation of temperature was about 1.0[eV], which was correspond to semiconductor material. The response characteristics for organic gas were confirmed by measuring the response time, recovery time, and reproducibility of the LB ultra-thin to each organic gas. Also, the penetration and adsorption behavior of gas molecule were confirmed through the organic gas response characteristics of LB ultra-thin films with respect to temperature.

  • Transformation of molecular film occurs only usually in air-water interface, 2 dimensions domain's growth and crash are achieved. Organic thin film that consist of growth of domain can understand correct special quality of accumulation film supplying information about fine structure and properties of matter of device observing information and so on that is surface forward player and optic enemy using AFM one of SPM application by nano electronics. In this paper Langmuir (L) that is one of basis technology to manufacture of organic matter device using Biology material PBDG that is kind of polypeptide that have Biology adaptedness. Detected of accumulation condition in observing Surface Pressure change by stimulus reaction of Langmuir (L) and Spin-Coating film. Therefore AFM by this confirm and compared.

  • There has been increasing interest in the applications of synthesized molecules of nanometer scale in recent years due to their potential utilization in various fields such as biology, optoelectronics and molecular electronics. In this study, the terpyridine-platinum (II) complex on the periphery of the dendritic carbosilane has been prepared from the reaction of Pt(COD)Cl2 and the 4'-functionalized-(2,2':6',2"-terpyridine) on dendrimers. The self-assembly process was carried out to obtain indivially dispersed dendrimer on Au (111) substrate. It was found that STM was unsuitable to obtain a obvious image of dendrimers. Tapping-mode atomic force microscopy(AFM) has been used to investigate the shape and size of dendrimers individually dispersed on Au (111)substrate. As a result, the imaged single dendrimer show that dendrimer is dome shaped and its size can be measured by tapping-mode AFM.

  • Thermoplastic resin takes place stress relaxation and creep according to temperature and time. In room temperature, time dependent deformation (TDD) of polymer was carried out at previous study. In this study, it evaluates time dependent deformation to relate temperature. Nanoscale indents can be used as cells for molecular electronics and drug delivery, slots for integration into nanodevices, and defects for tailoring the structure and properties. Therefore, it is important to control pattern depth for change of indent depth by creep when using Nanoindenter. For evaluating TDD at high temperature, it is occurred thermal-nanoindentation test by changing hold time at maximum load. Temperature is putted at $90^{\circ}C$, hold time at maximum loads are putted at 1, 10, 50, 100, 200, 300 and 500s.

MBE 성장온도에 따른 GaAs 및 AlGaAs의 전기광학적 특성 (Growth and characterization of GaAs and AlGaAs with MBE growth temperature)

  • 분자선에피택시(molecular beam epitaxy)법을 이용하여 GaAs 및 ALGaAs layer를 undoped 반절연(100) GaAs 기판위에 성장하였고, 최적의 성장온도와 성장된 시료에 대한 전기적 및 광학적 특성을 조사 하였다. Undoped GaAs층의 성장에 있어서는 측정결과로 부터 As/Ga의유속비가 약 20, 성장온도가 $570^{\circ}C$일때 12K에서의 Photoluminescence 반폭치(FWHM)가 1.14meV인 결정성이 좋은 시료가 얻어졌으며, p형으로서 carrier 농도가 $1.5{\times}10^{14}cm^{-3}$ 미만이고, Hall 이동도가 300K에서 $579cm^2/V-s$인 양질의 에피층이 얻어졌다. 또한 이들 시료에서는 ODLTS, DLTS측정으로 부터 2개의 hole형 깊은 주위만이 관측되었다. Undoped AlGaAs층의 성장에 있어서는 As/(Ga+Al)의 유속비가 20이고 $60^{\circ}C$의 성장온도에서 표면 morphology와 결정성이 좋은 시료를 성장할 수 있었으며, 0.17~0.85eV에서 8개의 깊은 준위가 관측되엇다. Si이 도핑된 AlGaAs 층의 경우, PL 스펙트럼으로 부터 Si의 도핑효과를 관측할 수 있었으며, Hall 측정으로부터 300K에서 $1.5{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}$일 때 Hall 이동도가 $2547cm^2/V-s$인 시료를 얻을 수 있었다.
