The air gap membrane distillation (AGMD) process was applied for water desalination. The main objective of the present work was to study the heat and mass transfer mechanism of the process. The experiments were performed on a flat sheet module using aqueous NaCl solutions as a feed. The membrane employed was hydrophobic PTFE of pore size 0.22 ${\mu}m$. A mathematical model is proposed to evaluate the membrane mass transfer coefficient, thermal boundary layers' heat transfer coefficients, membrane / liquid interface temperatures and the temperature polarization coefficients. The mass transfer model was validated by the experimentally and fitted well with the combined Knudsen and molecular diffusion mechanism. The mass transfer coefficient increased with an increase in feed bulk temperature. The experimental parameters such as, feed temperature, 313 to 333 K, feed velocity, 0.8 to 1.8 m/s (turbulent flow region) were analyzed. The permeation fluxes increased with feed temperature and velocity. The effect of feed bulk temperature on the boundary layers' heat transfer coefficients was shown and fairly discussed. The temperature polarization coefficient increased with feed velocity and decreased with temperature. The values obtained were 0.56 to 0.82, indicating the effective heat transfer of the system. The fouling was observed during the 90 h experimental run in the application of natural ground water and seawater. The time dependent fouling resistance can be added in the total transport resistance.

To verify different boundary conditions on the borehole wall, which are commonly used for generating g-function, the well-known TRNSYS simulation model, DST (Duct STorage), is employed. By letting the fluid circulation determine the borehole wall conditions, a DST-based g-function is induced with numerical processes proposed in this work. A new TRNSYS module is also developed to accommodate g-function data and predict dynamic outlet fluid temperatures. Results showed that the modified g-function, which is different from Eskilson's original g-function, is closer to the DST-based g-function. This implies that the uniform heat transfer rates over the height can be used for good approximation. In fact, simulations with the modified g-function showed similar results as the DST model, while Eskilson g-function case deviated from the DST model as time progressed.

High-definition (HD) maps can provide precise road information that enables an autonomous driving system to effectively navigate a vehicle. Recent research has focused on leveraging semantic segmentation to achieve automatic annotation of HD maps. However, the existing methods suffer from low recognition accuracy in automatic driving scenarios, leading to inefficient annotation processes. In this paper, we propose a novel semantic segmentation method for automatic HD map annotation. Our approach introduces a new encoder, known as the convolutional transformer hybrid encoder, to enhance the model's feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, we propose a multi-level fusion module that enables the model to aggregate different levels of detail and semantic information. Furthermore, we present a novel decoupled boundary joint decoder to improve the model's ability to handle the boundary between categories. To evaluate our method, we conducted experiments using the Bird's Eye View point cloud images dataset and Cityscapes dataset. Comparative analysis against stateof-the-art methods demonstrates that our model achieves the highest performance. Specifically, our model achieves an mIoU of 56.26%, surpassing the results of SegFormer with an mIoU of 1.47%. This innovative promises to significantly enhance the efficiency of HD map automatic annotation.

A transfer cask serves as the container for transporting and handling canisters loaded with spent nuclear fuels from light water reactors. This study focuses on a cylindrical transfer cask, standing at 5,300 mm with an external diameter of 2,170 mm, featuring impact limiters on the top and bottom sides. The base of the cask body has an openable/closable lid for loading canisters with storage modules. The transfer cask houses a canister containing spent nuclear fuels from lightweight reactors, serving as the confinement boundary while the cask itself lacks the confinement structure. The objective of this study was to conduct a structural analysis evaluation of the transfer cask, currently under development in Korea, ensuring its safety. This evaluation encompasses analyses of loads under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, adhering to NUREG-2215. Structural integrity was assessed by comparing combined results for each load against stress limits. The results confirm that the transfer cask meets stress limits across normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, establishing its structural safety.

The aim of this study is to ensure the structural integrity of a canister to be used in a dry storage system currently being developed in Korea. Based on burnup and cooling periods, the canister is designed with 24 bundles of spent nuclear fuel stored inside it. It is a cylindrical structure with a height of 4,890 mm, an internal diameter of 1,708 mm, and an inner length of 4,590 mm. The canister lid is fixed with multiple seals and welds to maintain its confinement boundary to prevent the leakage of radioactive waste. The canister is evaluated under different loads that may be generated under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, and combinations of these loads are compared against the allowable stress thresholds to assess its structural integrity in accordance with NUREG-2215. The evaluation result shows that the stress intensities applied on the canister under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions are below the allowable stress thresholds, thus confirming its structural integrity.
A GIS is capable of extracting various hydrological factors from DEM(digital elevation model). One of important tasks for hydrological analysis is the division of watershed. It can be an essential factor among various geometric characteristics of watershed. In this study, watershed itself and other geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using GIS technique. The manual process of tasks to obtain geometric characteristics of watershed is automated by using the functions of ARC/INFO software as GIS package. Scanned data was used for this study and it is converted to DEM data. Various forms of representation of spatial data are handled in main module and GRID module of ARC/INFO. GRID module is used on a stream in order to define watershed boundary, so it would be possible to obtain the watersheds. Also, a flow direction, stream networks and orders are generated. The results show that GIS can aid watershed management and research and surveillance. Also the geometric characteristics parameters of watershed can be quantified with ease using GIS technique and the hardsome process can be automated.

A finite element method was employed fort thermal and stress analyses of an IGBT module of 3-phase full bridge. The effect of material parameters such as substrate material, substrate area, solder thickness on the temperature and stress distributions of the module packages has been investigated. Thermal analysis results have also been compared by setting of boundary conditions such as equivalent heat transfer coefficient or constant temperature at a base metal surface of the package. The increase of ceramic substrate area up to 3 times does little contribution to the reduction(8.9%) of thermal resistance, while contributed a lot to the reduction(60%) of thermal stress. Thicker solder resulted in higher thermal resistance but did slightly reduced thermal stresses. It is revealed by the stress analysis that maximum stress was induced at the region of copper pads which are bonded with ceramic substrate.

Purpose: By applying an ultrasonic mechanical device to the liquid fertilizer storage in the pig dropping treatment plant, the initial odor of the odor source is reduced, and the air dilution drainage of the complex odor is fundamentally recognized to facilitate odor treatment on the mechanical and chemical biological treatment devices at the rear. Research design, data and methodology: The odor concentration on the site boundary was measured to confirm the state of reduction. In order to prevent the spread of odor from the collection of the pig dropping treatment plant, it was measured by installing an ultrasonic generator inside the installation wall after installing the sealing wall. Results: The average value of the March and April measurement data remained close to neutral at 8.2 after 8.6 treatment before pH treatment, decreased 97.3% from 462 mg/L before SS treatment to 10.5 mg/L after treatment, and the composite odor was reduced by 85% from 20 to 3 before treatment. It was confirmed that ammonia (NH3) was reduced by 99% from 5.8 ppm to 0.09 ppm, and general bacteria were also reduced by 99% from 3,200 CFU/mL to 57 CFU/mL Conclusion: Applying the ultrasonic air ejector hybrid system and zigzag air complex module development product to resource circulation centers or sewage treatment facilities is thought to reduce inconvenience to residents due to odors caused.
In this paper, linear buckling analysis of a curved sandwich beam with a flexible core is investigated. Derivation of equations for face sheets is accomplished via the classical theory of curved beam, whereas for the flexible core, the elasticity equations in polar coordinates are implemented. Employing the von-Karman type geometrical non-linearity in strain-displacement relations, nonlinear governing equations are resulted. Linear pre-buckling analysis is performed neglecting the rotation effects in pre-buckling state. Stability equations are concluded based on the adjacent equilibrium criterion. Considering the movable simply supported type of boundary conditions, suitable trigonometric solutions are adopted which satisfy the assumed edge conditions. The critical uniform load of the beam is obtained as a closed-form expression. Numerical results cover the effects of various parameters on the critical buckling load of the curved beam. It is shown that, face thickness, core thickness, core module, fiber angle of faces, stacking sequence of faces and openin angle of the beam all affect greatly on the buckling pressure of the beam and its buckled shape.

The present work analyzes the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of the plate heat exchanger with staggered dimples. The flow is assumed to be constant property, three dimensional and laminar. A thermal boundary condition is uniform wall temperature and it is assumed that the flow is periodically fully developed. Elliptic grid generation is used for proper modelling of the internal tube geometry with dimples. Computations have been carried out for a variety of geometric parameters, Reynolds number, and Prandtl number. The friction factor ratio and the ratio of a module average Nusselt number are presented for the cases considered in this study. It is found that the distance between dimples has a substantial effect on the pressure drop and heat transfer.
