Statement of problem: Damping of the peak force transmitted to implants has been reported by in vitro studies using impact forces on resin-veneered superstructures. Theoretical assumptions suggest that use of acrylic resin for the occlusal surfaces of a prosthesis would protect the connection between implant and bone. Therefore, the relationship between prosthesis materials and the force transmitted through the implant system also needs to be investigated under conditions that resemble the intraoral mechanical environment. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the fracture strength and modes of temporary prosthesis when a flange or occlusally extended structure were connected on the top of the abutment. Material and method: Modified abutments of winged and bulk design were made by casting the desired wax pattern which is made on the UCLA type plastic cylinder. Temporary crowns were made using templates on the modified abutments, and its fracture toughness and strain were compared to the traditional temporary prosthesis. To evaluate the effect of aging, 5.000 times of thermocycling were performed, and their result was compared to the 24hours specimen result. Results: The following conclusions were drawn from this study: 1. In the fracture toughness test, temporary crown's fracture line located next to the screw hole while modified designs with metal support showed fracture line on the metal and its propagation along the metal-resin interface. 2. Wing and bulk structure didn't show significant difference in the fracture toughness (p>0.05), but wing structure showed stress concentration on the screw hole area compared to bulk structure which showed even stress distribution. 3. In the fracture toughness test after thermocycling, wing and bulk structure showed increased or similar results in metal supported area while off-metal area and temporary crown showed decreased results. 4. In the strain measurement after thermocycling, its value increased in the temporary and bulk structure. However, wing structure showed decreased value in the loading point while increased value in the screw hole area. Conclusion: Wing type design showed compatible result to the bulk type that its application with composite resin prosthesis to the implant dentistry is considered promising.

In digital communication system that the Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm (MCMA) reduced the use of the adaptive equalization algorithm to combat the Inter-symbol Interference (ISI). MCMA is relatively brief operation. The major point of MCMA that it only achieves moderate convergence rate and steady state mean square error (MSE). In this paper suggest, MCMA equalization improve the performance with parallel structure. It combines Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm(MCMA) and Modified Decision Directed(MDD) algorithm. By exploiting the inherent structural relationship between the 4-QAM signal's coordinates and 16-QAM signal's coordinates, another style of cost function for Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm(MCMA) is defined and If it happen to offset of received signals and MCMA is poor performance in order to overcome this because the paper combines apply for MCMA and MDD(Modified Decision Direct) algorithm. By computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed PMCMA-MDD algorithm has the fater convergence rate and steady mean square error than the conventional MCMA.
Sweet potato starch was modified using Thermus aquaticus $\alpha$-1,4-glucanotransferase ($Ta{\alpha}GT$), and its structural and rheological properties were investigated. $Ta{\alpha}GT$-modified starch had a lower amylose level and molecular weight than raw starch. The chain length distribution showed an increased number of short and long branched chains and the formation of cycloamyloses. Compared with raw starch, $Ta{\alpha}GT$-modified starch displayed a lower gelatinization enthalpy and a wider melting temperature range. The X-ray diffraction of $Ta{\alpha}GT$-modified starch was a weak V-type pattern with distinct sharp peaks at 13 and $20^{\circ}$. Scanning electron micrographs of modified starch exhibited big holes on the surface and the loss of granular structure. The frequency sweep measurement revealed that the gel of $Ta{\alpha}GT$-modified starch was more rigid than raw starch gel. However, the structure of modified starch gel was destroyed by heating at $75^{\circ}C$, and a firm gel was re-formed by subsequent storage at $5^{\circ}C$, indicating thermoreversible property.

In this paper, firstly, acceleration-time histories were generated by varying strong motion duration in the frequency domain for application to a seismically isolated nuclear power structure, so as to examine the effects of strong motion duration on the behavior of the structure. Secondly, real recorded earthquakes were modified to match the target response spectrum based on the revised SRP 3.7.1(2007) and the modified time histories were applied to the analysis of a seismically isolated nuclear power structure. The obtained values of acceleration and displacement responses of the structure were, finally, compared with the values obtained in case of applying acceleration-time histories generated in the frequency domain to the structure.

This study predicts the modified eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the non-proportional damped structure due to the change in the mass, damping and stiffness of structure by iterative method of the sensitivity coefficient using the original dynamic characteristic. The method is applied to the non-proportional damped 3 degree of freedom system by modifying the mass, damping and stiffness. The predicted dynamic characteristics are showed a good agreement with these from the structural reanalysis using the modified mass, damping and stiffness.
This paper presents a modified task structure of coupled-constraints consensus based bundle algorithm especially to resolve the cooperative transportation problem. The cooperative transportation mission has various types of constraints. A modified framework to generate activities and subtasks to solve time and task constraints of the transportation mission by using coupled-constraints consensus based bundle algorithm is suggested. In this paper modifications on task structure, reward function and arrival time calculation are suggested to handle the constraints of cooperative transportation mission.

The modified amorphous GeTe formed by pulsed laser irradiation in as-grown GeTe has been analyzed in terms of variations of local bonding structure using extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS). The modified GeTe film has octahedral-like Ge-Te bonding structure that can be effectively induced by irradiation process. The EXAFS data clearly shows that the irradiation can lead to reduction of the average coordination number. Variations in the transition temperature for the irradiated film during crystallization can be described by the presence of octahedral-like local structure.

Under strong shock loads including earthquake or blast, structures may start to crack in stress concentrated members. The continuous behavior of the structure changes to the discontinuous. In this study, numerical method analyzing continuous and discontinuous behavior of a structure is developed using a modified distinct element method. Equations of motion of each distinct element are integrated using the central difference method, one of the finite difference methods. Interactions between he elements are considered by an element and pore spring. The forces acting in the center of an element include contact stress transferred by element spring; tensile stress by pore spring; and external traction such as earthquake or blast load. To verify the proposed method, the behavior of the cantilever beam subject to the quasi-static concentrated force at the end is investigated. The failure behavior of the simply supported beam subject to the strong shock at the center is studied. The proposed method can predict the failure behavior of the structure due to the shock loading and the post-failure discontinuous behavior of the structure.
We constructed and demonstrated a numerical CADMAS-SURF(V4.0) model that reproduces the wave run-up characteristics on the slope of coastal structures and applied it to a permeable coastal structure. We also compared the numerical model with published experimental results on the hydrodynamic phenomena of structures and some numerical results for a modified Pbreak model. In conclusion, the CADMAS-SURF model efficiently simulated wave run-up on the slope of a permeable coastal structure. The inflow/outflow effects from the porous structure boundary were approximately $15\%$ more than with the modified Pbreak model. Nevertheless, the descriptions of the internal hydraulic characteristics still could not be full!! exacted from the result(Fig. 1 참조)s obtained in our model experiment.

A sufficent condition for the robust control of the adaptive control system is presented under the convergence of the parameters of the adaptive system. The plant in the adaptive control system is a stable system which includes the unmodelled dynamics and can be approximated by a minimum phase system. It is shown that modified structure which Kosut and Friedlander suggested satisfies the sufficient condition more easily than the original structure without modification. It is also shown by computer simulation that the modified structure and/ or the adaptation method using the normalized input and output data or filtered input and output data can improve the robustness of the adaptive control system.
