The purpose of this study was to estimate of soil loss form hillslope using WEPP(Water Erosion Prediction Project) model. WEPP model was developed for predicting soil erosion and deposition, fundamentally based on soil erosion prediction technology. The model for predicting sediment yields from single storms was applied to a tested watershed. Surface runoff is calculated by kinematic wave equation and infiltration is based on the Green and Ampt equation. Governing equations for sediment continuity, detachment, deposition, shear stress in rills, and transport capacity are presented. Tested watershed has an area of 0.6ha, where the runoff and sediment data were collected. The relative error between predicted and measured runoff was $-16.6{\sim}2.2%$, peak runoff was $-15.6{\sim}2.2%$ and soil loss was $-23.9{\sim}356.5%$.

Differential evolution (DE) is an uncomplicated and serviceable developmental algorithm. Nevertheless, its execution depends on strategies and regulating structures. The combination of several strategies between subpopulations helps to stabilize the probing on DE. In this paper, we propose a unique k-mean soft island model DE(KSDE) algorithm which maintains population diversity through soft island model (SIM). A combination of various approaches, called KSDE, intended for migrating the subpopulation information through SIM is developed in this study. First, the population is divided into k subpopulations using the k-means clustering algorithm. Second, the mutation pattern is singled randomly from a strategy pool. Third, the subpopulation information is migrated using SIM. The performance of KSDE was analyzed using 13 benchmark indices and compared with those of high-technology DE variants. The results demonstrate the efficiency and suitability of the KSDE system, and confirm that KSDE is a cost-effective algorithm compared with four other DE algorithms.

The mainly objectives of this study was a combustion dynamics and instability characteristics in a model gas turbine dump combustor which is the scale down of GE 7FA+e DLN 2.6 gas turbine combustor. Model gas turbine injector has 2-stage swirl vane and it’s reduced 1/3 size of the original one. The shape of plenum and combustor were designed for similar acoustic characteristics. Inlet air was preheated to $200{\sim}400^{\circ}C$. The flow velocity at mixing nozzle was 30 to 75 m/s and equivalent ratio was 0.4 to 1.2. The combustor length was varied for different acoustic characteristics to $375{\sim}700\;mm$. As the result, this research have been show the combustion instability was observed at lower equivalence ratios ($\Phi$ < $0.5{\sim}0.6$) and higher equivalent ratios ($\Phi$ > $1.1{\sim}1.2$).
On the basis of observational constraints, particularly the relationship between metal abundance and cumulative stellar mass, a simple two-zone disk-halo model for the chemical evolution of our Galaxy was investigated, assuming different chemical processes in the disk and halo and the infall rates of the halo gas defined by the halo evolution. The main results of the present model calculations are: (i) The halo formation requires more than 80% of the initial galactic mass and it takes a period of $2{\sim}3{\times}10^9$ yrs. (ii) The halo evolution is divided into two phases, a fast collapse phase ($t=2{\sim}3{\times}10^8$ yrs) during which period most of the halo stars $({\sim}95%)$ are formed and a later slow collapse phase which is characterized by the chemical enrichment due to the inflow of external matter to the halo. (iii) The disk evolution is also divided into two phases, an active disk formation phase with a time-dependent initial mass function (IMF) up to $t{\approx}6{\times}10^9$ yrs and a later steady slow formation phase with a constant IMF. It is found that at the very early time $t{\approx}5{\times}10^8$ yrs, the metal abundance in the disk is rapidly increased to ${\sim}1/3$ of the present value but the total stellar mass only to ${\sim}10%$ of the present value, finally reaching about 80% of the present values toward the end of the active formation phase.

A power plant simulation tool ('PowerSim') has been developed with 10 years experience from the development of a plant simulator for efficient modeling of a power plant. PowerSim is the first developed tool in Korea for plant simulation with various plant component models, instructor station function and the Graphic Model Builder (GMB). PowerSim is composed of a graphic editor using general purpose design software, a netlist converter, component models, the scheduler, Instructor Station and an executive. The graphic editor generates a netlist that shows the connection status of the various plant components from the Simdiagram, which is drawn by Icon Drag method supported by GUI environment of the PowerSim. Netlist Converter normalizes the connection status of the components. Scheduler makes scheduling for the execution of the device models according to the netlist. Therefore, the user makes Simdiagram based on the plant Pipe and Instrument Drawing (P&ID) and inputs the plant data for automatic simulating execution. This paper introduces Graphic Model Builder (GMB), instructor station, executive and the detailed introduction of thermal-hydraulic modeling. This paper will also introduce basic ideas on how the simulation Diagram, based on netlist generated from general purpose design software, is made and how the system is organized. The developed tool has been verified through the simulation of a real power plant.

The software Process can be defined as the set of activities, rules, procedures, techniques and tools used within the production of software. A software process model is a conceptual representation of a real world software Process and can be described by process programming languages. In this paper, we present the language constructs of SimFlex designed for object-based software process programming. The design of SimFlex is based on the object concept, so that it can model complex software processes concisely both in syntax and semantics. Since the language constructs of SimFlex are derived from the analysis of major PSEEs and their associated process programming languages, SimFlex includes the core characteristics required for a desirable object-based process programming language. In addition, SimFlex is designed to act as a template software process definition language which could be included in specific PSEEs through customization appropriate to those PSEEs.

This study presented the selection of ozone ($O_3$) potential factors and designed and assessed its potential prediction model using multiple-linear regression equations in Ulsan area during the springtime from April to June, $2000{\sim}2004$. $O_3$ potential factors were selected by analyzing the relationship between meterological parameters and surface $O_3$ concentrations. In addition, cluster analysis (e.g., average linkage and K-means clustering techniques) was performed to identify three major synoptic patterns (e.g., $P1{\sim}P3$) for an $O_3$ potential prediction model. P1 is characterized by a presence of a low-pressure system over northeastern Korea, the Ulsan was influenced by the northwesterly synoptic flow leading to a retarded sea breeze development. P2 is characterized by a weakening high-pressure system over Korea, and P3 is clearly associated with a migratory anticyclone. The stepwise linear regression was performed to develop models for prediction of the highest 1-h $O_3$ occurring in the Ulsan. The results of the models were rather satisfactory, and the high $O_3$ simulation accuracy for $P1{\sim}P3$ synoptic patterns was found to be 79, 85, and 95%, respectively ($2000{\sim}2004$). The $O_3$ potential prediction model for $P1{\sim}P3$ using the predicted meteorological data in 2005 showed good high $O_3$ prediction performance with 78, 75, and 70%, respectively. Therefore the regression models can be a useful tool for forecasting of local $O_3$ concentration.

As far as an opening device of fishing gears is concerned, applications of a kite are under development around the world. The typical examples are found in the opening device of the stow net on anchor and the buoyancy material of the trawl. While the stow net on anchor has proved its capability for the past 20 years, the trawl has not been wildly used since it has been first introduced for the commercial use only without sufficient studies and thus has revealed many drawbacks. Therefore, the fundamental hydrodynamics of the kite itself need to ne studied further. Models of plate and canvas kite were deployed in the circulating water tank for the mechanical test. For this situation lift and drag tests were performed considering a change in the shape of objects, which resulted in a different aspect ratio of rectangle and trapezoid. The results obtained from the above approaches are summarized as follows, where aspect ratio, attack angle, lift coefficient and maximum lift coefficient are denoted as A, B, $C_L$ and $C_{Lmax}$ respectively : 1. Given the rectangular plate, $C_{Lmax}$ was produced as 1.46${\sim}$1.54 with A${\leq}$1 and 40$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$42$^{\circ}$. And when A${\geq}$1.5 and 20$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$22$^{\circ}$, $C_{Lmax}$ was 10.7${\sim}$1.11. Given the rectangular canvas, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.75${\sim}$1.91 with A${\leq}$1 and 32$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$40$^{\circ}$. And when A${\geq}$1.5 and 18$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$22$^{\circ}$, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.24${\sim}$1.40. Given the trapezoid kite, $C_{Lmax}$ was produced as 1.65${\sim}$1.89 with A${\leq}$1.5 and 34$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$44$^{\circ}$. And when A=2 and B=14${\sim}$48, $C_L$ was around 1. Given the inverted trapezoid kite, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.57${\sim}$1.74 with A${\leq}$1.5 and 24$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$36$^{\circ}$. And when A=2, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.21 with B=18$^{\circ}$. 2. For a model with A=1/2, an increase in B caused an increase in $C_L$ until $C_L$ has reached the maximum. Then there was a tendency of a gradual decrease in the value of $C_L$ and in particular, the rectangular kite showed a more rapid decrease. For a model with A=2/3, the tendency of $C_L$ was similar to the case of a model with A=1/2 but the tendency was a more rapid decrease than those of the previous models. For a model with A=1, and increase in B caused an increase in $C_L$ until $C_L$ has reached the maximum. Soon after the tendency of $C_L$ decreased dramatically. For a model with A=1.5, the tendency of $C_L$ as a function of B was various. For a model with A=2, the tendency of $C_L$ as a function of B was almost the same in the rectangular and trapezoid model. There was no considerable change in the models with 20$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$50$^{\circ}$. 3. The tendency of kite model's $C_L$ in accordance with increase of B was increased rapidly than plate models until $C_L$ has reached the maximum. Then $C_L$ in the kite model was decreased dramatically but in the plate model was decreased gradually. The value of $C_{Lmax}$ in the kite model was higher than that of the plate model, and the kite model's attack angel at $C_{Lmax}$ was smaller than the plate model's. 4. In the relationship between aspect ratio and lift force, the attack angle which had the maximum lift coefficient was large at the small aspect ratio models, At the large aspect ratio models, the attack angle was small. 5. There was camber vertex in the position in which the fluid pressure was generated, and the rectangular & trapezoid canvas had larger value of camber vertex when the aspect ratio was high, while the inverted trapezoid canvas was versa. 6. All canvas kite had larger camber ratio when the aspect ratio was high, and the rectangular & trapezoid canvas had larger one when the attack angle was high.
Simulation studies were carried out to investigate the responses of selection for three carcass traits (longissimus muscle area: EMA, fat thickness: BF, and marbling score: MS) based on either adjusted phenotypes (APH) or estimated breeding values (EBV) in multivariate animal model with different breeding schemes. Selection responses were estimated and compared on six different models with respect to breeding schemes using either carcass measurements or real time ultrasonic (RTU) scans generated by Monte Carlo computer simulation supporting closed breeding population. From the base population with 100 sires and 2000 dams, 20 sires and 1000 dams by each generation were selected by either APH or EBV for 10 generations. Relative economic weights were equal of three traits as EMA(1): BF(-1) : MS(1) for standardized either APH or EBV. For first two models which were similarly designed with current progeny-test program in Korean cattle, three carcass traits with records either only on male progenies (Model 1) or on male and female progenies (Model 2) were used for selecting breeding stocks. Subsequently, generation intervals on males were assumed as 6${\sim}$10 years in these two models. The other two models were designed with tools of selection by RTU rather than carcass measurements with genetic correlations of 0.81${\sim}$0.97 between RTU and corresponding carcass traits in addition to whether with records (Model 4) or without records (Model 3) on female. In these cases, generation intervals on males were assumed as 2${\sim}$4 years. The remaining last two models were designed as similar with Models 3 and 4 except genetic correlations of 0.63${\sim}$0.68 between RTU and corresponding carcass traits with records (Model 6) and without records (Model 5) on females.
The results from 10 replicates on each model and selecting methods suggested that responses indirect selection for carcass traits in Model 4 were 1.66${\sim}$2.44 times efficient rather than those in Model 1. Otherwise, in Model 6 with assuming moderate genetic correlations, those efficiencies were 1.18${\sim}$2.08 times with comparing to responses in Model 1. However, selection response for marbling score was the smallest among three carcass traits because of small variation of measurements. From these results, this study suggested that indirect selection using RTU technology for improving high meat qualities in Korean cattle would be valuable with modifying measuring rules of marbling score forward to large variation or modifying relative economic weight for selection.
This study was aimed to investigate the influence on the vicinity by air pollutant generated from facility of the district heating located in local small town. We selected the seven areas arround the surroundings of facility of the district heating, compared the air quality evaluated before and after operations of the facility, and estimated the diffusion of air pollutant exhausted from the facility using a ISC model. The result was that the concentration of TSP before and after operations of the facility was 89${\sim}$94${\mu}$g/m$^3$,and 72${\sim}$81${\mu}$g/m$^3$, respectively and the latter showed a decline in concentration. Also, there was no relationship between straight distance from the facility of the district heating and the concentration of TSP. This result was applicable to cases of PM-10 and SO$_2$. We also investigated the influence on the air around the neighbored area by air pollutant produced from facility of the district heating using ISCLT3 model. The adding-concentrations of TSP, SO$_2$,NO$_2$, and CO were 0.0019${\sim}$0.00183${\mu}$g/m$^3$, 0.0029${\sim}$0.5648ppb, 0.2924${\sim}$l.9837ppb,and 0.0087${\sim}$0.0590ppb, respectively. It is predicted that each concentration is added to pollutant exhausted from facility of the district heating and is about 1/100${\sim}$1/180,000 of present air quality. This has a tiny influence on general air quality. According to this analysis, the concentration of air pollutant is less effected to pollutants expected by the facility of the district heating than other pollutants emitted from mobil source or industrial complex, and etc.
