  • Works that improve the process and notify the improved process, the product and the change of tasks to all users are essential in achieving project. Existent project management tools support the definition and the change of project activities, and configuration management tools support version check, workspace management. build management. etc. It costs too much to buy each tool. as well as, it is burdensome to learn usage for various tools. Therefore the web-based integrated tool is proposed to manage the process and artifacts at a time in this paper. The proposed tool defines component based development process model. and achieves recording of process progression, processing the request of change, reporting the progression of each task, product registering and change, version recording, artifact or form search, etc. using ebXML. Furthermore, the stakeholders get the systematic management and standardization by sharing information that are necessary in process achievement and configuration management in distributed environment using the integrated management tool.

  • Cost estimation through fast and correct quantity take offs are crucial in the process of construction project. The existing methods for cost estimation are mainly based on 2D-based drawings and the estimation result tends to be different according to the estimator's experience, the quality and quantity of used information and estimation time. To solve these problems, the domestic construction industry have recently tried to use the data extracted from 3D data modeling based on BIM(Building Information Modeling) in order to achieve more accurate and objective cost estimation. However it tends to increase dramatically the quantity of information that can be used in cost estimation by estimators. Therefore in order to achieve quality information data from 3D data modeling, the characteristics of the project should be reflected on the 3D model and it is most important to extract information only for cost estimation from the whole 3D model fast and accurately. Thus this study aims to propose the 3D modeling method through Data Normalization which maximizes the usability of 3D Data modeling in cost estimation process.

  • A refuse incineration plant is a complex process, whose multi-variable control problems can not be solved conventionally by deriving an exact mathematical model of the process. The usage of advanced fuzzy technologies within the suitable development methodology is demonstrated by a controller implemented for the refuse incineration plant in Hamburg-Stapelfeld, Germany.

  • As leisure boats become large-scaled and high value-added, their design requirements gradually get more complicated and accordingly their manufacturing processes get more complicated than those of existing ones. Leisure boat builders overseas make efforts to overcome this circumstance by establishing a 3-D model-based design system which is based on the concept of PLM. On the other hand, Korean shipbuilders still remain in the development process of traditional leisure boats which are mainly based on 2-D drawings. There have been some efforts made to have the 3-D model-based design system; however, they belong to a very early stage. This study carried out initial research to apply DMU technology to the development process of leisure boats. It established the design process based on a DMU model and proved its usefulness through a case study on the design of 40-ft class aluminum leisure boats.

  • This Paper makes an attempt to suggest a process of automatically generating application software based on the Entity-Relationship model 1. The designer develops an E-R model of an real-world system. 2. The designer inputs the entity and relationship types, and attributes shown in the E-R model, and also the basic operations of the application system to the software generator. 3. The application generator produces database schema and link information between application programs, and then automatically generates a stereo-type application system. In order for the automated application generator to build the application system in a systematic way, four basic program generation rules have been suggested. A set of computer programs have been developed in order to show the applicability of the automated software generation process suggested in this paper. By following each rule with the generator, the designer can build an application in an efficient manner compared with traditional (manual programming) approaches. It has been demonstrated from the case study that the idea of applying an automated generator in systems development based upon the E-R model is feasible.

  • A model of STS (Science-Technology-Society) creativity education program for the gifted and talented children has been developed, based on GENEPLORE thinking process and Knowledge development theory. The GENEPLORE creative thinking process, developed by Finke et al. (1990, 1992), has two phases such as generative phase and exploratory phase. And The knowledge development theories of Piaget (1977) and Gallagher(1981) assume that knowledge-bases are developed on the basis of empirical as well as reflective abstraction, which could imply that knowledge-bases are crucial in creative thinking process. The creativity education model for the gifted and talented of the present study attempted to integrate 'the individual, creative thinking process, and social/scientific technology' by employing topics of the science-technology-society such as computer, network, biotech, robot, e-business, e-education, e-health, nanotech and entertainment and the structure and contents of the program are proposed

  • There are always many kinds of risks in software development such as frequent changes of requirements. Especially those risks related to the software characteristic of non-visibility can be threat to the project success. That lead us to the need of process implementation to reduce and minimize those risks. Although, most of the organization recognizes the importance of risk management, actual implementation requires professional knowledge in this area. CMMI, the de facto standard in process reference model, also emphasizes on risk management process area but only provides goals and practices to be implemented, not detail procedure and methods. In this paper, we developed Risk management implementation model based on IDEAL, the process improvement model based on CMMI. The proposed model will help the organizations to implement risk management process which is proper to their situation in the factor of organization size and project characteristics.

  • Community-Based Participatory Research(CBPR) has gained attention as a public health approach to develop community health interventions to address health disparities in recognition of the community relevance of specific health issues associated with social determinants of health. It emphasizes community involvement in equal partnership with researchers and public health professionals to address community-identified needs. The characteristics and principles of CBPR discussed in this paper highlight participatory nature, capacity development, partnership building, and process-orientation of CBPR. A 6-step process model for community empowerment is then introduced as a CBPR operationalization strategy. Mixed methods research approaches are valuable in CBPR as well as process evaluation. For the application of CBPR in Korean contexts, the Diffusion of Innovation theory is suggested as a theoretical framework for implementation. Building public health partnerships between public and private sectors to create partnership synergy is a necessary condition for successful CBPR for health promotion in Korea. Accompanying critical factors for the CBPR application include: common understanding of CBPR and its values, establishment of the definition of 'community,' 'community-based' and 'participation' in community health, development of accommodating research infrastructure for CBPR, recognition of the importance of program evaluation (particularly process evaluation), and training CBPR specialists.

  • This paper introduces a project for the development of an F-125 machine using 3D PLM systems including 3D CAD, CAM, CAE, PDM, and DMU systems. Here, the F-125 machine is a formula racing car equipped with a 125cc motorcycle engine. A development process and computer-integrated environment was established using 3D PLM systems on the conceptual basis of concurrent and virtual engineering. A DMU model for a full vehicle was built using CATIA V.5 and used to check interference between parts and to simulate assembly process. This DMU-based approach enables to find and fix manufacturing problems in the early design stage. All development activities have been done by the graduate and undergraduate students of the automotive engineering department of Kookmin University. Through the project, the students could acquire knowledge about car development process and 3D PLM systems in automotive industry.

  • This study is concerned with the process of technology transfer and commercialization. It is focused on the entrepreneurial development through the university business incubation process of Thailand. The study analyzes the leading university business incubators (UBIs) as well as major science and technology incubators to understand the strategies for commercialization of technology. The analyses of results, based on the Triple Helix model, have shown that the incubation program is one of the major policy mechanisms to support innovation and suggested that UBIs should act as an intermediary between the spheres of university and industry to provide interactive linkages and promote effective utilization of university research. The empirical study provides theoretical and managerial implications on the government policies to support the entrepreneurial development, innovation development and diffusion.
