  • With the development of machine learning techniques, various types of data such as vibration, temperature, and flow rate can be used to detect and diagnose abnormalities in machine conditions. In particular, in the field of the state monitoring of rotating machines, the fault diagnosis of machines using vibration data has long been carried out, and the methods are also very diverse. In this study, an experiment was conducted to collect vibration data from normal and abnormal compressors by installing accelerometers directly on rotary compressors used in household air conditioners. Data segmentation was performed to solve the data shortage problem, and the main features for the fault classification model were extracted through the chi-square test after statistical and physical features were extracted from the vibration data in the time domain. The support vector machine (SVM) model was developed to classify the normal or abnormal conditions of compressors and improve the classification accuracy through the hyperparameter optimization of the SVM.

  • Sensor data can provide fault diagnosis for equipment. However, the cause analysis for fault results of equipment is not often provided. In this study, we propose an explainable convolutional neural network framework for the sensor-based time series classification model. We used sensor-based time series dataset, acquired from vehicles equipped with sensors, and the Wafer dataset, acquired from manufacturing process. Moreover, we used Cycle Signal dataset, acquired from real world mechanical equipment, and for Data augmentation methods, scaling and jittering were used to train our deep learning models. In addition, our proposed classification models are convolutional neural network based models, FCN, 1D-CNN, and ResNet, to compare evaluations for each model. Our experimental results show that the ResNet provides promising results in the context of time series classification with accuracy and F1 Score reaching 95%, improved by 3% compared to the previous study. Furthermore, we propose XAI methods, Class Activation Map and Layer Visualization, to interpret the experiment result. XAI methods can visualize the time series interval that shows important factors for sensor data classification.

  • Diagnostic problem solving is a major application area of knowledge-based systems research. However, most of the current approaches, both heuristic and model-based, are designed to identify single faults, and do not generalize easily to multiple fault diagnosis without exhibiting exponential behavior in the amount of computation required. In this paper, we employ a decomposition approach based on system configuration to generate an efficient algorithm for multiple fault diagnosis. The basic idea of the algorithm is to reduce the inherent combinatorial explosion that occurs in generating multiple faults by partitioning the circuit into groups that correspond to output measurement points. Rules are multiple faults by partitioning the circuit into groups that correspond to output measurement points. rules are developed for combining candidates from individual groups, and forming consistent sets of minimal candidates.

  • This paper presents an arificial neuro-fuzzy technique based prtial discharge (PD) pattern classifier to power system application. This may require a complicated analysis method employ -ing an experts system due to very complex progressing discharge form under exter-nal stress. After referring briefly to the developments of artificical neural network based PD measurements, the paper outlines how the introduction of new emerging technology has resulted in the design of a number of PD diagnostic systems for practical applicaton of residual lifetime prediction. The appropriate PD data base structure and selection of learning data size of PD pattern based on fractal dimentsional and 3-D PD-normalization, extraction of relevant characteristic fea-ture of PD recognition are discussed. Some practical aspects encountered with unknown stress in the neuro-fuzzy techniques based real time PD recognition are also addressed.

  • Causal relations in ontology should be defined based on the inference types necessary to solve problems specific to application as well as domain. In this paper, we present a model to define and extract causal relations for application ontology for Question-Answering (QA) on fault-diagnosis of electronic devices. Causal categories are defined by analyzing generic patterns of QA application; the relations between concepts in the corpus belonging to the causal categories are defined as causal relations. Instances of casual relations are extracted using lexical patterns in the concept definitions of domain, and extended incrementally with information from thesaurus. On the evaluation by domain specialists, our model shows precision of 92.3% in classification of relations and precision of 80.7% in identifying causal relations at the extraction phase.

  • Condition monitoring is desirable for increasing machinery availability, reducing consequential damage, and improving operational efficiency. In this paper, a model-based method using neural network modeling of induction noter in vibration spectra is proposed for machine fault detection and diagnosis. The short-time Fourier transform (STFT) is used to process the quasi-steady vibration signals to continuous spectra so that the neural network model can be trained with vibration spectra. And the faults are detected from changes in the expectation of vibration spectra modeling error. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through experimental results.

  • An effective scheme to detect and diagnose multiple failures in a dynamic system is described for the case where the measurement noise is correlated sequentially in time. It is based on the modified interacting multiple model (MIMM) estimation algorithm in which a generalized decorrelation process is developed by employing the autoregressive (AR) model for the colored noise and applying measurement difference method.

  • IEC code based decision nile have been widely applied to detect incipient faults in power transformers. However, this method has a drawback to achieve the diagnosis with accuracy without experienced experts. In order to resolve this problem, we propose an artificial diagnosis algorithm to detect faults of power transformers using Self-Organizing Feature Map(SOM). The proposed method has two stages such as model construction and diagnostic procedure. First, faulty model is constructed by feature maps obtained by unsupervised learning for training data. And then, diagnosis is performed by compare feature map with it obtained for test data. Also the proposed method usぉms the possibility and degree of aging as well as the fault occurred in transformer by clustering and distance measure schemes. To demonstrate the validity of proposed method, various experiments are unformed and their results are presented.

  • This paper presents a new FDI scheme based on dynamic fuzzy model(DFM) for the unknown nonlinear system, which can detect and isolate process faults continuously over all ranges of operating condition. The dynamic behavior of a nonlinear process is represented by a set of local linear models. The parameters of the DFM are identified by an on-line methods. The residual vector of the FDI system is consisted of the parameter deviations from nominal model and the set of grade of membership values indicating the operating condition of the nonlinear process. The detection and isolation of faults are performed via a neural network classifier that are learned the relationship between the residual vector and fault type. We apply the proposed FDI scheme to the FDI system design for a two-tank system and show the usefulness of the proposed scheme.
