A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically self-organizing in arbitrary and temporary network topologies without the use of any existing network infrastructure. The AODV (Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) Protocol is one of the typical reactive routing protocols, in that mobile nodes initiate routing activities only in the presence of data packets in need of a route. In this paper, we focus upon the local repair mechanism of AODV. When a link is broken, the upstream node of the broken link repairs the route to the destination by initiating a local route discovery process. The process involves the flooding of AODV control messages in every node within a radius of the length from the initiating node to the destination. In this paper, we propose an efficient local repair scheme for AODV called AFLRS (AODV-based Fast Local Repair Scheme). AFLRS utilizes the existing routing information in the intermediate nodes which have been on the active route to the destination before a link break occurs. AFLRS can reduce the flooding range of AODV control messages and the route recovery time because it can repair route through the intermediate nodes. For the performance evaluation of the proposed AFLRS, we have simulated the local repair mechanisms by using NS2 and AODV-UU. The performance results show that AFLRS can achieve faster route recovery than the local repair mechanism of AODV.

With the advent of tiny and inexpensive computer systems like Raspberry Pi, it has become possible to construct an experimental environment of MANETs (Mobile Ad hoc Networks) at a relatively low cost. In this paper, we implement a node of MANETs with a Raspberry Pi equipped with two 802.11 wireless LAN cards and dynamic routing software running on it. In an outdoor MANETs environment with moving mobile nodes automatically rebuilding broken routes, we conducted a real-time video streaming experiment over the MANET. The video stream is transmitted from a node with a video camera installed on it to another node through the route established dynamically. Each node is equipped with a display device, with which the current status of the node can be checked out. We also implemented software that automatically collects data stored in each node and analyzes the performance of the MANETs. Through this experiment, we could evaluate the performance of realistic video streaming service in a MANETs environment.

A number of routing algorithms have been studied for wireless mobile ad-hoc network. Among them, the AODV routing algorithm with on-demand method periodically transmits hello message and monitors link state during data transmission in order to maintain routing paths. When a path is disconnected, a node that senses it transmits a RERR packet to the transmitting node or transmits a RREQ locally so that the path could be repaired. With that, the control packet such as a RREQ is broadcast, which causes the consumption of bandwidth and incurs data latency. This paper proposes a LRRLBP algorithm that locally repairs a path by predicting link state before disconnecting the path based on the AODV routing protocol for solving such problems. Intensive simulations with the results using NS-2 simulator are shown for verifying the proposed protocol.

Ad-hoc network is soft wireless communication network that is consisted of mobile node and clusters without helping of infrastructure. We propose a new ad hoc multicast routing protocol for based on the ontology scheme called inference network. Ontology knowledge-based is one of the structure of context-aware. Proposed structure is consisted of context awareness parameters as like distance between each nodes. The proposed architecture performs two types of routing discovery. One is Flooding Discovery Routing(FDR) for comparing analysis step and Local Discovery Routing(LDR) to compose path of node forecast(preservation) step from node's state value. The inference network structure of proposed RODMRP(Resilient Ontology-based Dynamic Multicast Routing Protocol) adopts a tree structure to enhance an efficient packet in various environment between mobile node. We will have developed an algorithm that will desist multi-hierarchy Layered networks to simulate a desired system.
In this paper, downlink capacity of time duplex division (TDD) based cellular wireless networks utilizing fixed hopping stations is investigated. In the network, a number of fixed subscriber stations act as hopping transmission stations between base stations and far away subscribers, forming a cellular and ad hoc mobile network model. At the radio layer, TDD code division multiple access (CDMA) is selected as the radio interface due to high efficiency of frequency usage. In order to improve the system performance in terms of downlink capacity, we propose different time slot allocation schemes with the usage of fixed hopping stations, which can be selected by either random or distanced dependent schemes. Performance results obtained by computer simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed network to improve downlink system capacity.
Peer to Peer (P2P) utilizes the resources of an offered service without the need for a central server or preexistent server-client, making it a desirable network environment for data exchange based on direct connection between peers. Proposed by Sun Microsystems. JXTA(Juxtapose) is a typical P2P system and distributed computing model that does not require central service resources and is flexible to deal with various network configuration changes. Meanwhile. Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork(MANET) is a typical wireless network configured with mobile nodes and without an infrastructure. where a network is established by direct connection or through other peers in the propagation area. Thus, MANET maintains the latest path information by establishing paths and changing path information for communication between peers in a highly mobile wireless network. Accordingly. this article proposes the JXTAMANET method for wireless networks to enable JXTA to be applied to MANET. NS2 is used to evaluate the performance and the proposed architecture is shown to produce better results than a conventional flooding method.

Aeronautical communication networks (ACN) is an emerging concept in which aeronautical stations (AS) are considered as a part of multi-tier network for the future wireless communication system. An AS could be a commercial plane, helicopter, or any other low orbit station, i.e., Unmanned air vehicle, high altitude platform. The goal of ACN is to provide high throughput and cost effective communication network for aeronautical applications (i.e., Air traffic control (ATC), air traffic management (ATM) communications, and commercial in-flight Internet activities), and terrestrial networks by using aeronautical platforms as a backbone. In this paper, we investigate the issues about connectivity, throughput, and delay in ACN. First, topology of ACN is presented as a simple mobile ad hoc network and connectivity analysis is provided. Then, by using information obtained from connectivity analysis, we investigate two communication models, i.e., single-hop and two-hop, in which each source AS is communicating with its destination AS with or without the help of intermediate relay AS, respectively. In our throughput analysis, we use the method of finding the maximum number of concurrent successful transmissions to derive ACN throughput upper bounds for the two communication models. We conclude that the two-hop model achieves greater throughput scaling than the single-hop model for ACN and multi-hop models cannot achieve better throughput scaling than two-hop model. Furthermore, since delay issue is more salient in two-hop communication, we characterize the delay performance and derive the closed-form average end-to-end delay for the two-hop model. Finally, computer simulations are performed and it is shown that ACN is robust in terms of throughput and delay performances.
In wireless data communication systems, retransmission of an erroneous packet is inevitable due to the harsh communication environment. In this paper, an efficient retransmission scheme using cooperation from neighboring nodes is investigated. In the cooperative retransmission scheme, an erroneous packet is transmitted to the destination by cooperative nodes which have favorable channels. This cooperative retransmission scheme requires no a priori information of neighboring nodes and has no limitation on the number of cooperating nodes. Distributed beamforming is used to accommodate multiple cooperating nodes. Phase and frequency offsets of cooperating signals are extracted from the NACK message and used to co-phase retransmitted data packets. The outage probability of the cooperative retransmission scheme is analyzed for the case of perfect synchronization and when the offsets are estimated. To reduce the impact of the residual phase and frequency offsets in cooperating signals, a low-rate feedback scheme is also investigated. It is shown that improved outage probability and reduced packet error rate (PER) performance can be achieved even for long data packets. The proposed cooperative retransmission scheme is found to outperform simple retransmission by the source as well as decode-and-forward cooperation.

With the rapid proliferation of wireless networks and mobile computing applications, the landscape of the network security has greatly changed recently. Especially, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks maintaining network topology with vehicle nodes of high mobility are self-organizing Peer-to-Peer networks that typically have short-lasting and unstable communication links. VANETs are formed with neither fixed infrastructure, centralized administration, nor dedicated routing equipment, and vehicle nodes are moving, joining and leaving the network with very high speed over time. So, VANET-security is very vulnerable for the intrusion of malicious and misbehaving nodes in the network, since VANETs are mostly open networks, allowing everyone connection without centralized control. In this paper, we propose a weighted intrusion detection method using rough set that can identify malicious behavior of vehicle node's activity and detect intrusions efficiently in VANETs. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by a simulation study in terms of intrusion detection rate and false alarm rate for the threshold of deviation number ${\epsilon}$.
In ad-hoc networks, dynamically reconfigurable and temporary wireless networks, all mobile devices cooperatively maintain network connectivity with no assistance of base stations while they have limited amounts of energy that is used in different rates depending on the power level. Since every node has to perform the functions of a router, if some nodes die early due to lack of energy, it will not be possible for other nodes to communicate with each other and network lifetime will be shortened. Consequently, it is very important to develop a technique to efficiently consume the limited amounts of energy resources so that the network lifetime is maximized. In this paper, geographical localized routing is proposed to help making smarter routing decision using only local information and reduce the routing overhead. The proposed localized routing algorithm selects energy-aware neighbors considering the transmission energy and error rate over the wireless link, and the residual energy of the node, which enables nodes to achieve balanced energy-consumption and the network lifetime to prolong.
