Effectiveness of a mobile health intervention on weight loss and dietary behavior changes among employees with overweight and obesity: a 12-week intervention study investigating the role of engagement

  • Objectives: This study aimed to determine whether a mobile health (mhealth) intervention is effective in reducing weight and changing dietary behavior among employees with overweight and obesity. The study also investigated whether engagement with the intervention affected its effectiveness. Methods: The intervention involved the use of a dietary coaching app, a wearable device for monitoring physical activity and body composition, and a messenger app for communicating with participants and an intervention manager. A total of 235 employees were recruited for a 12-week intervention from eight workplaces in Korea. Questionnaire surveys, anthropometric measurements, and 24-h dietary recalls were conducted at baseline and after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, significant decreases in the mean body weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, and waist circumference were observed. Furthermore, the consumption frequencies of multigrain rice and legumes significantly increased, whereas those of pork belly, instant noodles, processed meat, carbonated beverages, and fast food significantly decreased compared with those at baseline. The mean dietary intake of energy and most nutrients also decreased after the intervention. When the participants were categorized into three groups according to their engagement level, significant differences in anthropometric data, dietary behaviors, and energy intake were observed following the intervention, although there were no differences at baseline, indicating that higher engagement level led to greater improvements in weight loss and dietary behavior. Conclusions: The intervention had positive effects on weight loss and dietary behavior changes, particularly among employees with higher engagement levels. These results indicate the importance of increasing the level of engagement in the intervention to enhance its effectiveness. The mhealth intervention is a promising model for health promotion for busy workers with limited time.

  • Recently, school violence problem has increased serious. And this is not only an individual issue but also this is a social problem. Realistically, not only physical violence, cyber violence using the smartphone is very serious. And if the elementary school students are exposed to cyber violence, it becomes even more serious problem. Therefore, we proposed an Smart Monitoring app that protect the smart safety such as as a countermeasure against cyber violence to elementary school students. This Conversion Smart app can support grasp service for children using location based service on the smartphone when he will come to the home. And it can support another service that abuse or vulgar language in messenger. Grasps the degree of use of the language that is prohibited friendship in elementary school through this process, it can be derived. And we have future works that is the search rate and response time an inappropriate word on the proposed system.

  • This study analyzed the successful case of Naver LINE's entry into the Japanese market. LINE pursued a strategy of establishing its dominance early on and implemented localization for Japan and thereby achieved success in the Japanese market. The various strategies adopted by LINE allowed it to win over 80% of the market share in Japan and function as a nationally ubiquitous mobile messenger. The conclusions to be drawn from our LINE analysis is that LINE must implement localization strategies suited to the characteristics of each country, as it had done successfully in Japan. In the Asian region, it should retain the platform that provides various contents while pursuing a localization strategy to secure competitive edge, by offering emoticons suitable for each country, such as Ramadan emoticons in Islamic regions.

  • Artificial intelligence-based services are expanding into a new industrial revolution. There is artificial intelligence technology applied in real life due to the development of big data and deep learning related technology. And data analysis and intelligent assistant services that integrate information from various fields have also been commercialized. Chatbot with interactive artificial intelligence provide shopping, news or information. Chatbot service, which has begun to be adopted by some public institutions, is now just a first step in the steps. This study summarizes the services and technical analysis of chatbot. and the direction of public administration service chatbot was presented.

Analysis of Perceived Discomfort and EMG for Touch Locations of a Soft Keyboard (소프트 키보드의 터치 위치별 지각 불편도 및 근전도 분석)

  • With diversity of mobile services (e.g., messenger, and social network service) on smartphone, the demand of text input using a soft keyboard is increasing. However, studies on subjective and physiological responses of users for various touch locations are lacking. The present study investigated the ergonomic effects according to touch locations of a soft keyboard on smartphone. The experiment of the present study measured perceived discomfort using Borg's CR-10 scale and electromyography (EMG) on forearm (abductor pollicis longus, and extensor digitorum communis) and thumb (abductor pollicis brevis, and first dorsal interossei) muscles. Perceived discomfort was significantly varied from 0.7 (extremely weak discomfort) to 2.5 (weak discomfort) depending on touch locations. %MVC according to touch locations was only significant at abductor pollicis brevis which varied from 10% to 23%. The experimental results of the present study can be utilized in the ergonomic design of a soft keyboard.

  • 최근 이동사무환경에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 이를 위한 '유비쿼터스 이동사무환경 시스템'의 메신저 시스템은 기존 XMPP 메신저 프로토콜을 적용할 수 있으나, 몇 가지의 제약조건이 존재한다. 본 논문은 기존의 XMPP 를 확장해 이동사무환경에 적합한 새로운 프로토콜을 설계하고, 이를 실제 구현한 랑데부 서버에 적용하였다. 새롭게 개발한 MPE-MP 프로토콜은 사무환경의 전송을 위해 XMPP의 기본 네트웍 모델인 CS (Client-Server) 모델을 사용하지 않고, P2P (Point to Point) 방식을 사용하여 사무환경 전송을 수행한다. 본 논문에서는 MOE-MP 이동사무환경 메신저 프로토콜과 이의 구현인 랑데부 서버에 대한 특징, 기능을 서술한다.

The Effect of Emoticons on User Image making and Self-expression Satisfaction in MIM Communication (MIM커뮤니케이션에서 이모티콘 활용이 사용자 이미지메이킹과 자기표현 만족감에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we investigated the effect of users' emoticon usage on their satisfaction with image making and self-expression in MIM communication. We defined internal attraction, social appeal, and communication ability as personal image making factors due to the use of emoticons in MIM communication. And we defined the research hypotheses based on the definition of intimacy, openness, and social reality as relational image making factors. In MIM communication, we analyzed the questionnaire about emoticon users. As a result, emoticon usage was found to have a positive and significant effect on self-expression in relation image making rather than personal image making. The study implies that the use of emoticons can lead to image making in MIM communication and satisfy the satisfaction of self expression.

  • 최근 피싱과 파밍으로 인한 사용자들의 피해가 속출하고 있다. 또, OTP(One Time Password)의 MITM 공격에 대한 취약성이 밝혀지면서 기존의 인증기법을 개선할 필요가 있다. 그러므로 피싱과 파밍 공격을 방지하고 OTP의 취약점을 개선한 인증기법을 제안하는 것은 매우 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 메신저를 이용한 피싱/파밍 방지기능을 제안한다. 또한 제안하는 기법은 1차로 기존과 같은 ID / PWD 방식 인증과 2차로 모바일 메신저 상에서의 인증시작버튼, 3차로 물리적인 QR코드 인식 후 인증을 하는 3단계 인증을 통해 개선한다. 제안하는 인증기법은 일상생활 속에서 많이 사용하는 메신저와 카메라 기능을 통해 진행되므로 사용자는 추가적인 기능을 배울 필요가 없으며, 친숙하게 사용할 수 있다. 피싱/파밍 공격은 물론 MITM공격에 대한 취약점을 메신저의 특징과 2차, 3차 인증단계를 이용해 막아낼 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 모바일 단말기들이 기술적으로 발달하면서 모바일 앱 시장도 급속도로 성장하고 있다. 모바일 앱중에서도 메신저, 커뮤니케이션 앱들의 시장 점유율이 현저하게 높은 실정인데 반해 해당 앱들에 서 사용되는 비속어, 은어에 대한 제제는 전무하다. 현재 정부차원에서도 모바일 앱에서 행해지는 무분별한 언어폭력에 대한 조치를 취하려는 모습을 보인다는 것을 볼 때 메신저, 커뮤니케이션 모바일 앱에서 사용될 필터링 시스템은 선택이 아닌 필수라고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 안드로이드 플랫폼 기반 모바일 앱에서 SQLite를 활용한 앱의 내부 DB를 분석하여 비속어와 같은 특정 카테고리의 단어 사용빈도가 일정횟수 이상이 되면 사용자에게 경고 메시지를 보내주는 시스템을 제안한다.

A Design and Implementation of a Mobile Instant Messaging System with Extensible Presence Capabilities (확장성 있는 프레전스 기능을 가진 무선 인스턴트 메시징 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we have designed and implemented mobile instant messenger which has extensible presence service capability. Most previous work on instant messaging system has some limitation with regard to interoperability and extensibility. To solve these problems, we have employed the presence service architecture of IETF. In order to provide extensible presence capability in the wireless mobile communication, we have employed the presence service attributes which are defined in OMA's IMPS architecture. In particular, we have designed and implemented the presence service libraries for manipulating the presence information in response to user's requirement. finally, we have developed the wireless E-mail service, employing the presence service architecture, to verity the extensibility.
