  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide information on building's energy consumption and efficiency for general building users through a mobile application. Method: This paper presents a mobile application process and building energy assessment models for general users to understand easily. There are two assessment models, one is based on the energy consumption. The other is based on the architectural planning factors of a building. The assessment models are proposed to understand buildings' energy efficiency and to compare the energy consumption level for general users. The applicability of proposed application has been evaluated by conducting a case study. The case study is targeting university buildings. Result: Energy efficiency potentials were proposed using weighting factor which was calculated by the impact on energy consumption of a building according to parameters. The mobile application used the simple energy assessment model by energy efficiency potentials and was developed for a smartphone By using the mobile application, numerous general users of smartphones can easily and conveniently access information pertaining to buildings, energy consumption, and reductions in energy consumption. The proposed application enables user to find more energy efficient buildings by comparing energy status and energy efficiency potential by given information.

  • The diversity and fast growth of Internet traffic volume are highly influenced by mobile and computer applications being developed. Moreover, the developed applications are too dynamic to be identified and monitored by network administrators. Several approaches have been proposed to identify network applications, however, are still not robust enough to identify modern applications. This paper proposes both, TSA (Traffic collection, Signature generation and Applications identification) system and a derived algorithm so called CSP (Contiguous Sequential Patterns) to identify applications for management and security in IP networks. The major focus of this paper is the CSP algorithm which is automated in two modules (Signature generation and Applications identification) of the proposed system. The proposed CSP algorithm generates DNA-like unique signatures capable of identifying applications and their individual services. In this paper, we show that the algorithm is suitable for generating efficient signatures to identify applications and application services in high accuracy.

  • Mobile Ad hoc Network is a network of multiple wireless nodes which communicate and exchange information together without any fixed and centralized infrastructure. The core objective for the development of MANET is to provide movability, portability and extensibility. Due to infrastructure less network topology of the network changes frequently this causes many challenges for designing routing algorithms. Many routing protocols for MANET have been suggested for last few years and research is still going on. In this paper we review three main routing protocols namely Proactive, Reactive and Hybrid, performance comparison of Proactive such as DSDV, Reactive as AODV, DSR, TORA and Hybrid as ZRP in different network scenarios including dynamic network size, changing number of nodes, changing movability of nodes, in high movability and denser network and low movability and low traffic. This paper analyzes these scenarios on the performance evaluation metrics e.g. Throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Normalized Routing Load(NRL) and End To-End delay(ETE).This paper also reviews various network layer security attacks challenge by routing protocols, detection mechanism proposes to detect these attacks and compare performance of these attacks on evaluation metrics such as Routing Overhead, Transmission Delay and packet drop rates.

  • Recently, universities have difficulties in operating the normal curriculum because fresher's basic academic ability is declined. It causes campus misfits so managing students is also not an easy matter. The education system that focuses only on college entrance exams is one of the reasons why this phenomenon occurred. Activity with self-directed Learning Community to know learning level themselves and execute systematic studying habit is essential for improving this problem. This activity can help students understanding and having interest in class and be motivated to study. But it had burdened tutors with submitting activity report in written form. In this paper, we suggest the Mobile Based Activity Report Submission System which can be the solution of the problem that the Self-directed Learning Community System has. This system reduces the emotional burden to write the reports and manages them efficiently.

  • 5G AgiLe and fLexible integration of SaTellite And cellulaR (5G-ALLSTAR) is a Korea-Europe (KR-EU) collaborative project for developing multi-connectivity (MC) technologies that integrate cellular and satellite networks to provide seamless, reliable, and ubiquitous broadband communication services and improve service continuity for 5G and beyond. The main scope of this project entails the prototype development of a millimeter-wave 5G New Radio (NR)-based cellular system, an investigation of the feasibility of an NR-based satellite system and its integration with cellular systems, and a study of spectrum sharing and interference management techniques for MC. This article reviews recent research activities and presents preliminary results and a plan for the proof of concept (PoC) of three representative use cases (UCs) and one joint KR-EU UC. The feasibility of each UC and superiority of the developed technologies will be validated with key performance indicators using corresponding PoC platforms. The final achievements of the project are expected to eventually contribute to the technical evolution of 5G, which will pave the road for next-generation communications.

  • The necessity to distribute energy wirelessly has been spurred by the tremendous growth in the use of portable devices. Mobile devices have become ubiquitous and the circuits within them have been optimized to consume extremely low amounts of power. Such portable electronic sets are in constant use and the frequent need to recharge them; using conventional wired mechanisms have hindered the mobility of users. Wireless transmission of energy to power-up devices has been proposed since the days of Tesla and since then many theories and methods have been invented. This paper discusses some of those techniques briefly.

  • In the nested mobile network environment, the mobile node selects one of multiple mobile routers. The MR(Mobile Router) by existing top-down or bottom-up methods may not be the optimal MR if the numbers of mobile nodes and routers are substantially increased, and the scale of the network is increased drastically. Since an inappropriate MR decision causes handover or binding renewal to mobile nodes, determining of the optimal MR is important for efficiency. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that decides on the optimal MR using MR QoS(Quality of Service) information, and we describe how to understand the various structured MLP(Multi-Layered Perceptron) based on the algorithm. In conclusion, we prove the ability of the suggested neural network for a nesting mobile network through the performance analysis of each learned MLP.

  • Today, mobile devices are becoming essential for everyday life, and integration of mobile computing, situation recognition and intellectual service accelerates mobile interaction. Surrounding intelligence detection technology is extremely important. These technologies can automatically acquire and recognize surrounding information and situations. Situation recognition can realize wide-range mobile recognition for intellectual services of users' diverse activities, by distinguishing many surrounding devices and recognizing their situations. Thus, this paper suggests application for students' mobile authentication such as college campus attendance authentication, and redesign existing plastic student ID as NFC-compatible mobile authentication system. Experiment results proved NFC-compatible mobile touch-based interactions can maximize the strengths of NFC technology because it can recognize limits in some situations such as tardiness and absences by automating student validation and preventing far-distance reading.
