  • The H$_{\infty}$robust controller fur the reactor power control system is designed by use of the mixed weight sensitivity. The system is configured into the typical two-port model with which the weight functions are augmented. Since the solution depends on the weighting functions and the problem is of non-convex, the genetic algorithm is used to determine the weighting functions. The cost function applied in the genetic algorithm permits the direct control of the power tracking performances. In addition, the actual operating constraints such as rod velocity and acceleration can be treated as design parameters. Compared with the conventional approach, the controller designed by the genetic algorithm results in the better performances with the realistic constraints. Also, it is found that the genetic algorithm could be used as an effective tool in the robust design. robust design.

  • A sensitive method for the determination of total selenium in aerosol particles is described. The method involves dissolution of aerosol particles by $HNO_3-HClO_4$ mixed acids, pre-reduction of Se (VI) to Se (IV) by boiling hydrochloric acid, and hydride generation followed by atomic absorption detection. Dissolved Se (IV) in 4M hydrochloric acid is reacted with $NaBH_4$ to form $H_2Se$, which is subsequently collected in an U-tube cooled in liquid nitrogen. Upon the completion of $H_2Se$ generation, the collected $H_2Se$ is rapidly vaporized into a quartz cuvette burner by removing the U-tube from liquid nitrogen, atomized, and then detected by an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The absolute sensitivity of the method is 0.49 ng/0.0044 Abs. The accuracy of the method evaluated by analyzing standard reference materials for urban aerosol is better than 10%. Analytical results for urban and rural aerosol particles are reported.

  • A new application of high performance liquid chromatography for the determination of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin in cataplasma preparation was investigated. Optimum conditions for a good separation and detection were determined; 0.93 volt, acetonitrile: $H_3PO_4$ sol (pH 2.8), sample size; $7\;{\mu}l$. Recovery rates of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin from mixed artificial preparations were 99.9% and 98.4% respectively. Also reproducibility tests showed that the coefficient of variation was 1.59% for capsaicin and 1.14% for dihydrocapsaicin. There was no interference with cataplasma preparation containing thymol, dl-camphor and the commonly encountered excipients or additives such as gelatine, glycerine. This method was rapid, accurate and it gave higher sensitivity than other method.

  • Rotating compensator multichannel spectroscopic ellipsometry has been employed to determine the optical functions of various liquids used in chemistry. We attempted three different measurement configurations: (1) air-liquid interface, (2) prism-liquid interface, and (3) liquid-sample interface. In prism-liquid interface, we found that the prism surface had roughness and it should be considered in analysis for accurate results. In liquidsample interface, we had much higher reflection, better sensitivity, and less limitation compared to the other two configurations when crystalline silicon was used as reference sample. We discuss the merit of each configuration and present the optical functions of various liquids. Also we demonstrate Bruggeman effective medium theory to determine the optical properties of mixed liquid.

  • The magnetic levitation system has many advantages, such as little friction, no lubrication, no noise and so on. For this reason, the magnetic levitation system is utilized in the magnetic bearing of high-speed rotor. The method to obtain magnetic force is both the repulsive suspension method and the attraction suspension method need a stabilizing controller because it is a unstable system in natural. This paper presents the design of robust stabilizing servo controller in spite of being the model uncertainties in the magnetic levitation system by $\textit{H}_{\infty}$ control theory using the free parameter. And we investigated the validity of a designed controller through results of the simulation and the actual experiment.

  • This paper presents a simulation study using a robust controller to improve the roll stability of a vehicle. The controller is designed in the framework of an output feedback H$_{\infty}$ control scheme based on the 3DOF linear vehicle model, solving the mixed-sensitivity problem to guarantee the robust stability and disturbance rejection with respect to parameter variations due to laden and running vehicle conditions. In order to investigate the feasibility of the active roll control system in a real car, its performance is evaluated by simulation in a 10DOF full vehicle model with actuator dynamics and tire characteristics.

  • An imprinted potentiometric sensor was developed for direct and selective determination of gabapentin. Sensor is based on carbon paste electrode adapted by graphene oxide that is decorated with silver nanoparticles and mixed with molecularly imprinted polymers nanoparticles using gabapentin as a template molecule. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Under optimal experimental conditions, the studied sensor exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity with LOD of $4.8{\times}10^{-11}mol\;L^{-1}$. It provided a wide linearity range from $1{\times}10^{-10}$ to $1{\times}10^{-3}mol\;L^{-1}$ and high stability for more than 3 mo. The sensor was effectively used for the determination of gabapentin in pharmaceutical tablets and spiked plasma samples.

  • In this paper, when a robust active noise controller for a small cavity to control the noise induced in the cavity is designed, the Graphical method based on the robust stability and performance requirements is studied. The problem of designing controller that achieve these robust performance conditions is related to minimizing the $H_{\infty}$ norm of the mixed sensitivity function by using $H_{\infty}$ control theory. Also, For design the controller, the loopshaping method which control the weight functions to satisfy the design specification without loss of a robust performance can be used. Therefore, we determined the acceptable design specification with the system characteristics of the small cavity and obtained its robust controller with the robust performance specifications by stability margin.

  • Fuzzy co-clustering is sensitive to noise data. To overcome this noise sensitivity defect, possibilistic clustering relaxes the constraints in FCM-type fuzzy (co-)clustering. In this paper, we introduce a new possibilistic fuzzy co-clustering algorithm based on information bottleneck (ibPFCC). This algorithm combines fuzzy co-clustering and possibilistic clustering, and formulates an objective function which includes a distance function that employs information bottleneck theory to measure the distance between feature data point and feature cluster centroid. Many experiments were conducted on three datasets and one artificial dataset. Experimental results show that ibPFCC is better than such prominent fuzzy (co-)clustering algorithms as FCM, FCCM, RFCC and FCCI, in terms of accuracy and robustness.

  • This paper presents a vibration-rejection control design for a magnetic suspension system which has strong non-linearity, open-loop unstable characteristics, high-order flexible modes, and parameter variations. The target plant to be controlled consists of a U-core electromagnet and a flexible rail. We describe the test rig and formulate the mathematical model and then we set up a control problem as the mixed sensitivity problem where the augmented plant is constructed with frequency weighting functions and the feedback controller is designed by using the H$\infty$ controller. The effectiveness of the designed controller for the magnetic suspension system with high-order flexible modes is validated and justified using several simulations. These results show that the magnetic suspension system is robustly stable against disturbance and gives the well-damped tracking performance ...
