Occurrence of Sclerotinia Rot in Cruciferous Crops Caused by Sclerotinia spp.

  • Cruciferous crops grown in greenhouses and fields in Korea were surveyed from 1995 to 2000. Sclerotinia rot most severely occurred up to 30% in cabbage. Incidence of the disease was as high as 20% at its maximum in Chinese cabbage and rape and 10% in radish, but as low as less than 1 or 2% in broccoli and kale. Symptoms of Sclerotinia rot commonly developed on loaves and stems of the crucifers, but rarely on rachises of broccoli. A total of 112 isolates of sclerotinia species was obtained from the diseased crucifers. Out of the isolates, 103 isolates were identified as S. sclerotiorum, and the rest as 5. minor based on their morphological and cultural characteristics. S. sclerotiorum was isolated from all the crucifers, while S. minor was isolated from Chinese cabbage, broccoli, and kale. Six isolates of S. sclerotiorum and three isolates of S. minor were tested for their pathogenicity to the crucifers by artificial inoculation. All the isolates of the two Sclerotinia spp. induced rot symptoms on the plants of the crucifers tested, which were similar to those observed in the fields. The pathogenicity tests revealed that there was no significant difference in the susceptibility of the crucifers to the isolates of S. sclerotiorum. However, in case of S. minor, radish was relatively less susceptible to the pathogen.

  • This study was undertaken to demonstrate the relationship between oligomenorrhea/amenorrhea and minor mullerian anomalies. Hysterosalpingograms were taken in total 139 patients including 62 infertile patients with normal menstrual intrerval, 47 infertile patients with oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea and 30 tubal reanastomosis candidates with normal menstrual interval. The results were summarized as follows: 1. In unselected infertile patients, the occurrence rate of minor mullerian anomalies was 38%. 2. The occurrence rate of oligomenorrhea/amenorrhea in infertile patients with minor mullerian anomaly was significantly higher than that of infertile patients with normal uterus and the reverse was the ( ) result. 3. There was no significant difference in the occurrence rate of minor mullerian anomalies between infertile patients and tubal reanastomosis candidates with normal menstrual interval. 4. There was no immediate relationship between the degree of fundal anomaly and the duration of the menstrual intervals and/or the duration of the oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea.

경미한 고장을 수반하는 시스템에 대한 노화 및 예방적 교체 정책 (Preventive Policy With Minor Failure Under Age and Periodic Replacement)

  • The purpose of this study was to propose useful suggestion by analyzing preventive replacement policy under which there are minor and major failure. Here, major failure is defined as the failure of system which causes the system to stop working, however, the minor failure is defined as the situation in which the system is working but there exists inconvenience for the user to experience the degradation of performance. For this purpose, we formulated an expected cost rate as a function of periodic replacement time and the number of system update cycles. Then, using the probability and differentiation theory, we analyzed the cost rate function to find the optimal points for periodic replacement time and the number of system update cycles. Also, we present a numerical example to show how to apply our model to the real and practical situation in which even under the minor failure, the user of system is not willing to replace or repair the system immediately, instead he/she is willing to defer the repair or replacement until the periodic or preventive replacement time. Optimal preventive replacement timing using two variables, which are periodic replacement time and the number of system update cycles, is provided and the effects of those variables on the cost are analyzed.

  • This study was carried out to propose some useful advices for the improvement policy of the minor rural roads. From the case study on 5 country areas of Chonnam Province, it was ascertained that above a third of minor rural roads did not meet the statutory minimum level of their width, which means the necessity of substantial upgrade of road improvement works in rural areas.

  • Usually the first three joint variables (major link) and the next three joint variables (minor link) are used to determine the position and the orientation, respectively, of 6 degrees-of-freedom robot manipulators. In this paper, the Jacobians of 20 major links and 6 minor links are calculated to find the positional maneuverability matrices and orientational maneuverability matrices. Then the kinematic characteristics of the major and minor links are examined. Also we gave the measures of maneuverability and the controllability of the links for the figure of merits of robot manipulator design.

  • Three crude saponins having the same aglycone were isolated from the root of Caltha minor $N_{AKAI}$ which has been known to be of effect as emetics in the folk medicines of Korea. And they were confirmed to their saponoidal properties through the methods of hemolytic test and $L_{IEBERMANN}-B_{UCHARD}$ reaction.

Photoreaction of 2'-Halobenzanilide: Synthesis of 2-Phenylbenzoxazole

  • Irradiation of 2'-bromobenzanilide in acetonitrile containing sodium hydroxide under nitrogen leads to the formation of the intramolecular photosubstituted product, 2-phenylbenzoxazole (45 %) along the minor photoreduced and photo-Fries type product. The photoreaction of 2'chlorobenzanilide under the same condition as above gives the photo-Fries type reaction product, 2-amino-3-chlorobenzophenone (22%) with minor product, 2-phenylbenzoxazole. The photoreaction of 2'-chlorobenzanilide in acetonitrile produces a photocyclized product, phenanthridone (19%) along with minor products, 2-phenylbenzoxazole, benzanilide, 2-amino-3-chlorobenzophenone, and 4-amino-3-chlorobenzophenone, while that of 2'-bromobenzanilide produces photosubstituted product, 2- phenylbenzoxazole.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 Jazz에서 사용되어지는 화성기법을 Pat Metheny의 작품인 “Question & Answer”를 통해서 알아보았다. D Minor Pentatonic Scale이 선율에 주로 사용된 본 작품은 Intro부분에서는 Quater Voicing이 사용되었다. A 부분에서는 Line Cliche와 D Minor Scale과 D Harmonic Minor Scale의 Diatonic Chord를 사용하였지만 A Aeolian Mode적인 기법이 A부분 셋 번째 단에서 사용되어 Modal적인 분위기도 연출 하였으며 B부분에서는 John Coltrane이 자주 사용하였던 3 Tonic 기법이 사용되면서 동질의 화성이 일정간격으로 움직이는 Constant Structure기법도 사용되었다.

  • Two triterpenoid saponins were isolated from the methanol extract of Caltha minor leave(Ranunculaceae). The structure of these saponin were elucidated as hederagenin-3-O-$\alpha$-rhamnopyranosyl(1$\rightarrow$2)-$\alpha$-L-arabinopyrano side and 3-O-$\alpha$-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1$\rightarrow$2)-$\alpha$-L-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin 28-O-$\alpha$-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1$\rightarrow$4)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl(1$\rightarrow$6)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl ester.
