  • This paper describes the evaluation and selection of MEMS(Micro-Elect Mechanical System) based inertial sensor to fit to implement the Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU) for a small-sized vessel at sea. At first, the error model and the noise model of the inertial sensors are defined with Euler's equations and then, the inertial sensor evaluation is carried out with Allan Variance techniques and Monte Carlo simulation. As evaluation results for the five sensors, ADIS16405, SAR10Z, SAR100Grade100, LIS344ALH and ADXL103, the combination of gyroscope and accelerometer of ADIS16405 is shown minimum error having around 160 m/s standard deviation of velocity error and around 35 km standard deviation of position error after 600 seconds. Thus, we select the ADIS16405 inertial sensor as a MEMS-based inertial sensor to implement IMU and, the error reducing method is also considered with the search for reference papers.

  • This paper proposes the method of an in-vehicle gateway to reduce the reprogramming time for the ECU (Electronic Control Unit). In order to reduce the reprogramming time, the gateway must prohibit transmitting messages, that are not related to reprogramming, to the destination CAN network, and no ECU should diagnose the DTC(Diagnostic Trouble Code) that indicates CAN communication error caused by prohibiting CAN messages by the gateway. Moreover, STmin, which are the minimum time between two consecutive CAN messages, should be minimized. In order to do this, this paper proposes the method that uses the link control command specified in UDS(Unified Diagnostic Services) and hardware based gateway functionality that are supported by the latest MCU(Micro Controller Unit). The proposed method is developed using TC275 based embedded system, and its results are presented.

  • Background/Aims: Cholangiogram interpretation is not used as a key performance indicator (KPI) of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) training, and national societies recommend different minimum numbers per annum to maintain competence. This study aimed to determine the relationship between correct ERCP cholangiogram interpretation and experience. Methods: One hundred fifty ERCPists were surveyed to appropriately interpret ERCP cholangiographic findings. There were three groups of 50 participants each: "Trainees," "Consultants group 1" (performed >75 ERCPs per year), and "Consultants group 2" (performed >100 ERCPs per year). Results: Trainees was inferior to Consultants groups 1 and 2 in identifying all findings except choledocholithiasis outside the intrahepatic duct on the initial or completion/occlusion cholangiogram. Consultants group 1 was inferior to Consultants group 2 in identifying Strasberg type A bile leaks (odds ratio [OR], 0.86; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.77-0.96), Strasberg type B (OR, 0.84; 95% CI, 0.74-0.95), and Bismuth type 2 hilar strictures (OR, 0.81; 95% CI, 0.69-0.95). Conclusions: This investigation supports the notion that cholangiogram interpretation improves with increased annual ERCP case volumes. Thus, a higher annual volume of procedures performed may improve the ability to correctly interpret particularly difficult findings. Cholangiogram interpretation, in addition to bile duct cannulation, could be considered as another KPI of ERCP training.

  • In this paper, we propose a comparative analysis to evaluate the impact of activation functions and attention mechanisms on the performance of time-series models for Mars meteorological data. Mars meteorological data are nonlinear and irregular due to low atmospheric density, rapid temperature variations, and complex terrain. We use long short-term memory (LSTM), bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and bidirectional GRU (BiGRU) architectures to evaluate the effectiveness of different activation functions and attention mechanisms. The activation functions tested include rectified linear unit (ReLU), leaky ReLU, exponential linear unit (ELU), Gaussian error linear unit (GELU), Swish, and scaled ELU (SELU), and model performance was measured using mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE) metrics. Our results show that the integration of attentional mechanisms improves both MAE and RMSE, with Swish and ReLU achieving the best performance for minimum temperature prediction. Conversely, GELU and ELU were less effective for pressure prediction. These results highlight the critical role of selecting appropriate activation functions and attention mechanisms in improving model accuracy for complex time-series forecasting.

  • First of all, the multi-story Housing applying resident's participation in europe was classified by the menu selection method, the two-step supply method and the cooperative method. And then I analyzed flexible unit plan of cases for deriving the planning methode and the characteristics of flexibility. First, I analyzed the area and form of the unit plan, structure and Installation, fixed and variable elements to derive the planning method. The area of units are distributed from a minimum of $35m^2$ to a maximum of $150m^2$, and many of the unit planes have a narrow front and a deep depth. The structure is a long-span wall-structure or a skeleton structure, and is designed without any columns and bearing walls in the interior space for flexibility in spatial composition. The vertical shafts are located in the center of the unit in a box-form or in the corner at the unit dividing wall for free placement of interior wall. Fixed elements are framework and facility systems. Most of the future residents in the two-steps supply method and the cooperative method were able to freely design the internal space within the zoning concept proposed by the architect and change the location of the facade element within module system proposed by the architect. Second, the characteristics of the flexibility applied to the unit plan were divided in integrated flexibility, functional flexibility, construction flexibility, and supply flexibility. The integrated flexibility enables residents to give the variable space combination based on the complex structure of the inner space for providing various living experiences. Regarding functional flexibility, the three-dimensional spatial structure with neutral space has multi-functionality according to the needs of residents and easily accepts mixing of hybrid programs such as work and residence. Constructive flexibility allows residents to create identity by freely planning interior space and changing the size or location of facade components in a determined system of architects. Finally, various types of size and space composition are proposed and realized in the whole building applying menu selection method, so that flexibility in the offer can accommodate and integrate various types of living.

  • Scrophularia ningpoensis hemsl has been traditionally used in China and Vietnam for treatment of bacteria, atopy, pimple, tonsillitis, angina and encephalitis for a long time. The main objectives of this study were to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the Scrophularia ningpoensis hemsl extract on biofilm formation of Klebsiella pneumoniae. Antibacterial activity was conducted using disc diffusion assay and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were determined using the broth micro dilution method in accordance to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines(CLSI). Furthermore, cytotoxicity on L929 were assessed using animal cell culture for the proliferation test(MTT cell assay) and the biofilm forming capacity of the K. pneumoniae were determined using the colony forming unit (CFU) assay. The extract exhibited considerable antibacterial activity. K. pneumoniae was susceptible to the extract with the MIC and MBC of 0.1875 and $1.5mg/m{\ell}$ respectively. Cytoxicity test in L929 showed no sign of toxicity at the concentration of $0.75mg/m{\ell}$ and at the same concentration the extract caused inhibition of bacterial biofilm formation. The extract of Scrophularia ningpoensis hemsl possesses an in vitro antibacterial antibiofilm activities against K. pneumoniae, with no sign of cytoxicity on L929.

  • The purpose of this experimental research is to investigate the properties of workability and strength of the concrete containing admixtures such as silica fume, fly ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, and rice husk ash. For this purpose, the workability and the strength of the concrete containing each admixture were tested and analyzed according to the unit weight of binder and the replacement ratio of each admixture. As a result, considering their workability and strength, the existence of minimum binder weight and optimum replacement ratio of concrete containing admixture to plain concrete were obtained for each admixture.

  • This paper reports on the development of a minimum cost design model and its application for obtaining economic designs for reinforced High Strength Concrete (HSC) T-sections in bending under ultimate limit state conditions. Cost objective functions, behavior constraint including material nonlinearities of steel and HSC, conditions on strain compatibility in steel and concrete and geometric design variable constraints are derived and implemented within the Conjugate Gradient optimization algorithm. Particular attention is paid to problem formulation, solution behavior and economic considerations. A typical example problem is considered to illustrate the applicability of the minimum cost design model and solution methodology. Results are confronted to design solutions derived from conventional design office methods to evaluate the performance of the cost model and its sensitivity to a wide range of unit cost ratios of construction materials and various classes of HSC described in Eurocode2. It is shown, among others that optimal solutions achieved using the present approach can lead to substantial savings in the amount of construction materials to be used. In addition, the proposed approach is practically simple, reliable and computationally effective compared to standard design procedures used in current engineering practice.

  • We investigated resistive superconducting fault current limites (SFCLs) fabricated using YBCO thin films on 2-inch diameter sapphire substrates. Nearly identical SFCL units were prepared and tested. The units were connected in series and parallel to increase the current and voltage ratings. A serial connection of the units showed significantly unbalanced power dissipation between the units. This imbalance was removed by introducing a shunt resistor to the firstly quenched unit. Parallel connection of the units increased the current rating. An SFCL module of 4 units in parallel, each of which has minimum quench current rating. An SFCL module of 4 units in parallel, each of which has minimum quench current 25 A$\_$peak/, was produced and successfully tested at a 220 V$\_$rms/circuit. From the resistance increase, we estimated that the film temperature increased to 200 K in 5 msec, and 300 K in 120 msec. Successive quenches revealed that this system is stable without degradation in the current limiting capability under such thermal shocks as quenches at 220 V$\_$rms/.

  • The ionospheric error, which is one of many error elements considered during the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning, is hard to be predicted due to the influence of geomagnetic activity and irregular solar activities. Thus, the present study analyzed a change pattern in the ionosphere through Global Ionosphere Map (GIM) data for 12 years from 2003 to 2014 and a variation in the Slant Total Electron Content (STEC) between Sinuiju and Busan which was the longest range in the southeastern direction of the Korean Peninsula. The variation in the STEC verified the diurnal, annual, and solar cycle variations due to the influence of solar activity. The diurnal variation was characterized that the variation in the STEC started to increase from 6-7 am and reached the maximum at 13-14 pm followed by being decreased. The seasonal variation was characterized that the variation in the STEC was high in spring and autumn whereas it was low in summer and winter. The solar cycle variation revealed that the variation in the STEC increased during solar maximum and decreased during solar minimum. The variation in the STEC was up to 20 Total Electron Content Unit (TECU) during the solar minimum and up to 60 TECU during solar maximum.
