  • A V-band low-noise amplifiers (LNA) based on the Millimeter-wave monolithic integrated circuit (MIMIC) technology were fabricated using high performance 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ $\Gamma$-shaped pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistors (PHEMT's), coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures and the integrated process for passive and active devices. The low-noise designs resulted in a two-stage MIMIC LNA with a high S$\sub$21/ gain of 14.9 dB and a good matching at 60 ㎓. 20 dBm of IP3 and 3.9 dB of minimum noise figure were also obtained from the LNA. The 2-stage LNA was designed in a chip size of 2.3 ${\times}$1.4 mm$^2$by using 70 $\mu\textrm{m}$ ${\times}$2 PHEMT’s. These results demonstrate that a good low-noise performance and simultaneously with a high gain performance is achievable with GaAs PHEMT's in the 60 ㎓ band.

  • Ionic cluster mimic, polymer electrolyte membranes were prepared using polymer composites of crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with sulfated-${\beta}$-cyclodextrins (${\beta}-CDSO_3H$) or phosphated-${\beta}$-cyclodextrins (${\beta}-CDPO(OH)_2$). When Nafion, developed for a fuel cell using low temperature, polymer electrolyte membranes, is used in a direct methanol fuel cell, it has a methanol crossover problem. The ionic inverted micellar structure formed by micro-segregation in Nafion, known as ionic cluster, is distorted in methanol aqueous solution, resulting in the significant transport of methanol through the membrane. While the ionic structure formed by the ionic sites in either ${\beta}-CDSO_3H$ or ${\beta}-CDPO(OH)_2$ in this composite membrane is maintained in methanol solution, it is expected to reduce methanol transport. Proton conductivity was found to increase in PVA membranes upon addition of ionized cyclodextrins. Methanol permeability through the PVA composite membrane containing cyclodextrins was lower than that of Nafion. It is thus concluded that the structure and fixation of ionic clusters are significant barriers to methanol crossover in direct methanol fuel cells.

  • We describe the framework of a data-fuelled, interdisciplinary team-led learning system. The idea is to build models using patients from one's own institution whose features are similar to an index patient as regards an outcome of interest, in order to predict the utility of diagnostic tests and interventions, as well as inform prognosis. The Laboratory of Computational Physiology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology developed and maintains MIMIC-II, a public deidentified high- resolution database of patients admitted to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. It hosts teams of clinicians (nurses, doctors, pharmacists) and scientists (database engineers, modelers, epidemiologists) who translate the day-to-day questions during rounds that have no clear answers in the current medical literature into study designs, perform the modeling and the analysis and publish their findings. The studies fall into the following broad categories: identification and interrogation of practice variation, predictive modeling of clinical outcomes within patient subsets and comparative effectiveness research on diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions. Clinical databases such as MIMIC-II, where recorded health care transactions - clinical decisions linked with patient outcomes - are constantly uploaded, become the centerpiece of a learning system.

  • In this paper, we may by gestures and voice, to know the effect of imitation on the life. Measuring how much about what is imitation unconsciously during conversation to collect data for measuring mimic such speak a short (1 sec) words. It can be used as a basis to predict the outcome of the interview further. Even used as a basis to predict future outcomes. We expect that our group and other researchers will continue to pursue this analysis with larger datasets and across different demographics.

  • This study is carried out to investigate performance differences between two alarm presentation methods from the viewpoint of human factors and to provide items to be improved. One of the alarm display methods considered in this study displays alarm lists on VDT combined with hardwired alarm panels. The other method displays alarms on plant mimic diagrams of VDT. This alarm display method has other features for operator aid with which operator can get detailed information on the activated alarm in the mimic diagrams, and the capability for alarm processing such as alarm reduction and prioritization. To compare the twodisplay methods, a human factor experiment was performed with a plant simulator in the ITF(Integrated Test Fcility) that plant operators run for 4 event scenarios. During the experiment, physiological measurements, system and operator action log, and audio/video recordings were collected. Operators' subjective opinion was collected as well after the experiment. Time, error rate and situation awareness were major human factor criteria used for the comparison during the analysis stage of the experiment. No statistical significance was found in the results of our statistical comparison analysis. Several findings were identified, however, through the analysis of subjective opinions.

  • Gastric tuberculosis is rare even in the endemic areas of tuberculosis, and can mimic neoplasm by causing elevation of the mucosa with or without ulceration. Here, we report a case in which a 54-year-old female patient admitted for resection of early gastric cancer was found to have coexisting histopathologically and bacteriologically confirmed gastric cancer and tuberculosis.

  • In the paper [1], an explicit correspondence between certain cubic irreducible polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_q$ and cubic irreducible polynomials of special type over $\mathbb{F}_{q^2}$ was established. In this paper, we show that we can mimic such a correspondence for quintic polynomials. Our transformations are rather constructive so that it can be used to generate irreducible polynomials in one of the finite fields, by using certain irreducible polynomials given in the other field.

  • 본 연구실에서 개발한 MIMIC(Motion Interface & Motion Information Capture system)은 동작자의 동작을 획득하고, 동작의 의미를 이해할 수 있도록 설계된 시스템이다.
