A Study on the Impact of Military Service Experience on their Entrepreneurial Intention (군복무 경험 특성이 창업의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of personal characteristics and military service experience on their entrepreneurial intention. Hypotheses were developed based on extant literature and tested using the data collected by surveys to retiring officers and NCOs. The conclusions drawn from the analysis were as follows. First, the major factors affecting the voluntary self-employment intention are role model, perceived desirability, and working environment. Second, the biggest difficulty in preparing to start a self-employed business is the lack of founding capital and entrepreneurial information. Third, the respondents believe that military career is not helpful in starting a business. Fourth, there were many negative perceptions that the education and training from the military does not help the self-employment. As a result, it is believed that improvement of entrepreneurial education in the military and expansion of entrepreneurial education during service are required. Especially, the education focusing on self-employed entrepreneurship should be improved. It is recommendable that the entrepreneurial education now being carried out by the Military Outplacement Training Institute should be extended not only during the outplacement period but also the normal service period, thereby increasing the intention of the military official.

An Analysis of Research Trends in Military education: Focusing on Domestic Academic Papers Since 2000 (군인 교육 연구동향 분석: 2000년 이후 국내 학술논문을 중심으로)

  • Purpose: This study intends to present a future research direction for military education by identifying and analyzing research trends in the field of education related to soldiers in academic research published in Korea. Method: In domestic academic papers published from 2000 to 2022, 269 final papers were selected from among the papers conducted on the subjects of 'soldiers' and 'education'. The final selected literature was analyzed by categorizing it into year, research subject, research method type, number of researchers, research topic, and research content. Result: First, since 2010, the number of studies has gradually increased, and 31 articles were published in 2021, with the largest number of studies. Second, the largest number of studies were conducted on the entire military, followed by the Army and Nursing Officers. Third, qualitative research methods were used a little more in research methods. Fourth, the number of researchers with two or more researchers was steadily increasing. Fifth, most of the research topics were development, design, and improvement. Sixth, in terms of detailed research contents, most of the studies were related to soldiers' spirit(mental force) education and military education and training. Conclusion: Through this study, it was confirmed that military education was studied in various subjects. The direction of future research should be in-depth research from various perspectives with a lot of interest in military education and safety.

An Empirical Study on Determining Factors of estimation cost: Focused on Defense Goods (예정가격 결정요인에 관한 연구: 방산물자를 중심으로)

  • According to the National Contract Law, when determining Estimation cost Contract officers should consider contract quantity, contract period, supply and demand condition, difficulty of contract enforcement, terms and condition, and other various conditions based market price, costing based pricing, and appraisal. And they should not overestimate or underestimate the estimation cost. But the estimation cost system is used as preparedness for audit against the contract law. In this study, we identified the factors affecting estimation cost and analyzed their influence on estimation cost.

The Mutual Relation between the Chulik and The Po for Man in the Period of Chosun Dynasty (조선시대 철릭과 남자 포류와의 상호관계)

  • The mutual relation dynamics between the chulik and the Po for man in the period of chosun dynasty. The objectives of this study are to find out the mutual relation between the chulik and the Po for man-symeui, danryeong, changeui, jikryeong-, te change of chulik, and the ideas that made this change. Conclusions are decribed as followes: 1. The pattern of chulik and symeui is same, and they consist of bodice and skirt's length of the chulik was 1 : 1.3∼2 and it is effected by symeui. And symeui was effected by pratical structure of the chulik. 2. The functions of the chulik were the underwear of danryeong and the upperwear as military uniform. And then the length of chulik was shorter than danryeong in the early period of shosun dynasty. The sleeves were changed as large as danryeong in the late period of chosun dynasty. It is assumed that the changes were to be a functional underwear and to appear authority as upperwear. 3. Chulik as the underwear was hardly worm in the 17th centuries, and changeui was widely enjoyed instead of it. The reason of this change is that the pragmatism was emphasied in that period. 4. Chulik was widly worm instead of court dress, until the mid of 17th century after war. It was effected by outer factor of the war. And jikryeong was widly worm instead of chulik in the late period of chosun dynasty. It shows that military officers wanted to appear authority.

Substantial Improvement of Medical Care for Detainees in Republic of Korea (대한민국 수용자 의료처우의 실질적 개선)

  • The responsibility to ensure the health rights of detainees, particularly their medical rights, fundamentally lies with the state in all nations. However, in the correctional facilities of the Republic of Korea, these rights are currently not adequately safeguarded. Numerous detainees express dissatisfaction with the medical services provided and show a preference for voluntary external treatment. However, barriers such as prolonged application processes for external treatment and the requirement for detainees to cover their medical expenses present significant challenges. Therefore, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea has advocated for an increased medical budget in correctional facilities and a bolstered professional medical workforce to improve the medical care of detainees. Recommendations for improvements include: (1) establishing dedicated correctional hospitals for detainees, (2) setting up specialized correctional wards, (3) collaborating with military hospitals, (4) launching mobile medical buses for diverse specialties, (5) enhancing collaboration with public and private medical institutions, (6) increasing compensation for partnering external medical institutions, (7) improving the working conditions of medical officers, (8) safeguarding the defense rights of medical staff, (9) improving the working conditions of public health doctors from the Ministry of Justice in correctional facilities, and (10) pre-assigning public health specialists and military doctors to correctional facilities. By implementing these measures, it is anticipated that the quality of medical services in the Republic of Korea's correctional facilities will improve, reducing the demand for external treatments among detainees and ensuring their health and medical rights are realistically upheld.

A Study on the Influencing Factors in Using Army Logistics Information System (장비정비정보체계 사용 의도에 미치는 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to investigate into the factors that influence the use of a military logistics information system in Korean army. We developed the research model based on DTPB (Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior) because the DTBP is an appropriate model in a mandatary using environment through the study of previous technology-acceptance models. A questionnaire survey was conducted with Korean army solders and civilian components who use the army logistics information system and 266 valid questionnaires are recovered. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS and AMOS. The results show that perceived usefulness and ease of use did not affect the attitude of the use intention. The influence of colleagues and upper class officers was all satisfactory and computer self-efficiency affected perceived control of behavior. The results of this study will contribute to the further use of the military logistics information system and future development strategy.

  • Defense reform our military for the globalization of information. Scientific command structure, troop structure, unit structure, step-by-step into the power structure while promoting a history of quantitative-oriented structure, and structure of the quality of state-of-the-art technology-driven transition in the middle of the bottle numberplans about the current 3.3-fold increase in reducing the cadre(officers and NCOs). NCO groups in the executive, especially expanding the current level of 100% increase in the rate of long-serving, while ensuring a stable job and to superior resources to secure a stable policy through science. Military alliance is now underway. In the midst of this group, and urged the group at the University of the leading military and specialized resources to ensure each agreement required by subjects to reflect. Thus effectively improve the quality of education and the demands of the job analysis, DACUM curriculum development methods and procedures can be applied at the time of urgent need for foster an excellent resource for the discharge of curriculum development at the University of Selected as a core job, career, and job classification configuration inside of Duty according to KST derived from the group reflect on the training courses to meet the requirements in the curriculum through the development of curriculum, job definition, job model set to propose.

Study on Awareness and Factors Influencing on Duty of Cooking Soldier (취사병들의 직무에 대한 인식과 직무만족 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to help improving the quality of military food service as identifying awareness, attitudes and satisfaction of cooking soldier on their duties and providing basic data to find out alternatives on the basis of identified data. The analysis results are described as follows. For general demographics of subjects, sergeants consisted of the highest percentage of population as 38.8% in terms of the rank. For educational background, the percentage of graduates or college students was 82.5%. For the characteristics of job performance of cooking soldier, those who studied entirely different courses from cookery and became to work as cooking soldier were 92(89.3%) of total subjects. For the question why they became to work as cooking soldier, the response that they didn't know the reason showed the highest percentage as 63.1%. Those who selected cooking soldier because they were interested in cookery were only 25.2%. And 94.2% of the population had no certificates related to cookery. With respect to awareness on training period to carry on duties as cooking soldier, 3 months were selected as the most appropriate period as 36.9%. In accordance with research on job percentage of cooking soldier, 'cleaning and washing' consisted of the highest percentage among ordinary duties as 16.8%, followed by 'cooking' as 12.3% and 'food dispensing' as 11.8%. This study suggests as follows on the basis of the results of this researches. Cooking soldier requires expertise, but the privates with short period of service are discharged from military service when they are accustomed to their duties and become experts. Accordingly, the cooking soldier system could not achieve more than its ordinary performance. Therefore, it is required to post non-commissioned officers who can serve for a long time as the special resources.

A Comparative Study on Effective Leadership in Combat and Noncombat Situation (전투 및 비전투 상황에서의 효율적 리더십에 대한 비교 연구)

  • The current problems with the changing nature of the battlefield of the future point up the serious need for more and better research on the nature of effective military leadership. The purpose of this study was to examine effective leadership traits and behaviors of junior officers in combat situation. During times of peace, leader study battles and imagine themselves in all sorts of combat situations while at the same time, they must cope with numerous challenges and fill a variety of roles that they perceive are not battle related. This illustrates one of the fundamental paradoxes of the peacetime environment. Early studies, showing that combat leadership and noncombat leadership needed different talents, produced some clusters of traits which good combat leader were said to possess. Good combat leaders, for example, were described as possessing courage(e.g., bravery, fearlessness, daring, prowess, gallantry, guts, intrepidity, undaunted courage, fighting spirit, aggressive action), personal integrity(e.g., sincerity, flair, calmness, modesty), adaptability(e.g., flexibility, rapidity in action, speedy decision-making, clarity of thought) and so on. Behaviors found to be important in both combat and noncombat situations bore some relation to role requirements common to both situations. Behaviors important in one situation but not the other could be explained in terms of situational differences in role requirements for effective leadership. In order to achieve this purpose, a number of literature reviews were analysed. These results, though obtained in a somewhat rough and ready fashion, were useful not because they pointed to different leaders in war and in peace, but because they showed leaders the different things that were expected of them in different situations. It was also worth knowing how develop combat leadership. While these findings clearly suggest combat and noncombat differences, they do not necessarily confirm the complete study on effective leadership in combat situation. In conclusion, this study would be useful basis for further improvement on effective combat leadership and some further researches were recommended.

A Study on the case of Application of Women's Personnel in the New Zealand Defence Force (뉴질랜드 군 여성인력의 활용과 우리 군에 주는 시사점)

  • The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) began using female manpower from World War II. After making various efforts to secure excellent manpower, the proportion of female manpower has risen to 24%, higher than that of Britain, the United States, Canada and Australia, which have a longer history of female military personnel than New Zealand. This is the result of NZDF efforts to open combat roles to women and allow female personnel to advance to high-ranking military positions such as generals and consular officers. In addition, policy alternatives to address women's realistic concerns such as pregnancy and childbirth, childcare, and vertical organizational culture were presented. In particular, Operation "Respect" was implemented to overcome the problem of not leaving or joining the army due to inappropriate sexual behavior and bullying. The operation respect established the role of the leader, emphasized the support of the victim, and accumulated data of the accident to prevent similar accidents. In addition, through the "Wāhine Toa" program, excellent female manpower could be introduced into the military through customized support considering the military life cycle (attract-recruit-retain-advance) of female personnel. South Korea is also considering expanding the ratio and role of female manpower as one of the ways to overcome the shortage of troops and leap into an advanced science and technology group. Implications were derived from the use of female manpower in the NZDF and the direction in which the Korean military should proceed was considered.
