  • Inadequate military soldiers cause military fatigue and rejection such as reduced confidence in the military and combat power. The military developed and applied a self-adopting test as a psychological test system to identify soldiers who are not fit to serve in the military in advance and prevent accidents. In this paper, we propose the ontology design process to be used for identifying accident concerns and implement the behavioral patterns and symptoms of maladjustment soldiers as ontology. The ontology design process is validated consistency and suitability as a result of the performance evaluation of ontology implemented. Through ontology design for identifying maladjustment soldiers, it is expected to play an effective role in preventing accidents by providing objective criteria and sharing of information on accident concerns.

The programs that were certified by the Korea Forest Service between 2014 and 2019, and were applied for stress reduction and relaxation training were classified into stress-coping programs and forest experience programs. Post-hoc surveys and cortisol measurements were carried out. Results: Green camp soldiers experience and differences in the level of stress responses were found to be very statistically significant between the treatment and control groups. The techniques for coping with stress were not significantly different in the control group, and the treatment group showed statistically significant results. In addition, the results of analyzing changes in the concentration of cortisol and measuring physiological stress were very statistically significant in forest healing activities at 4 p.m. Conclusion: Once green camp soldiers face stressful situations, forest healing programs using forest plant scents for green camp soldiers can have positive responses and forest healing activities can reduce psychological and physiological stress responses, improving maladjustment behaviors caused by stress and positively affecting the reduction of cortisol.

The 12 session CBT and ACT program for military soldiers experiencing emotional and behavioral problems was developed and the effectiveness was verified by conducting a program once a week for soldiers in the army units based in South Chungcheong Province. Adult Self Report scale(ASR) was implemented for pre-post test and analysis, and descriptive statistical analysis, cross-analysis, paired sample t-test, and independent sample t-test were performed to analyze the results. The results indicated are as follows: First, the preliminary homogeneity test between groups showed that the two groups had homogeneous demographic characteristics and the characteristics of the variables. Second, as a result of the pre-post test verification, both CBT and ACT groups showed significant changes in problem behavior totals, internalizations, and externalizations. Third, there was no difference between the pre-post-examination of the CBT group and the ACT group. This study is meaningful in that it was involved in the maladjustment problem within the military unit, and compared the effectiveness between the two theories, and proposed the study of control groups and further studies on more diverse and diverse subjects that were not implemented under the circumstances of the unit.

  • This study was a qualitative study performed to understand the nature and structure of the suicide attempt process experienced by maladjustment soldiers. The survey participants targeted 10 soldiers who entered 'Camp Green' due to lack of duty by the 00 Corps of ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Prefecture. Data were collected by individual in-depth interviews from October 2016 to September 2017 and analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method. The suicide attempt process by maladjusted soldiers was delineated into four categories such as 'A prison without bars', 'Walk on eggshells', 'A pretentious series of life', and 'A life of desperation'; 9 theme clusters; and 25 themes. As a result, maladjusted soldiers had a generally negative experience related to military culture. Soldiers who fail to adapt to military culture will show extreme behavior unless they are able to overcome their depression. Unless specific understanding of the suicide attempt process is attained, the suicide prevention policies of mission-maladjusted soldiers will be ineffective. The results of this study hope to serve as the basis for a suicide prevention and nursing intervention program.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine psychological characteristics of patients who visited psychiatric clinic for medical certificate for military service using MMPI-2-RF. We compared target group with general psychiatric patients with same age range. Methods : A total of 165 male patients for medical certificate and 154 general psychiatric patients were collected from the Department of Psychiatry of three university hospitals. There were significant differences of age and educational level between two groups. We used independent t-test, ANCOVA, ${\chi}^2$ test to examine differences between two groups. Results : Medical certificate group scored higher on the validity scales, the Higher-Order(H-O) scales, the Restructured Clinical(RC) Scales, the Specific Problems(SP) Scales, and the Personality Psychopathology Five (PSY-5) Scales. Especially, EID, RC7, HLP, SFD, SAV, SHY, DSF, and INTR-r showed significant differences between two groups on all three statistical tests. Conclusions : The present study showed that psychiatric patients who received psychological evaluation for military service have significantly higher emotional distress, helplessness, lower self-confidence, and lower quality of interpersonal relationships. And the difference of validity scales between two groups could be related with psychological burden of compulsory military service in the study sample which causes elevation on scales of infrequent responses. MMPI-2-RF would be helpful instrument to assess these emotional and psychological characteristics.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine cognitive and psychological characteristics of patients with military service suitability issues compared to the general psychiatric outpatients. Methods : 108 patients who visited psychiatric clinic center due to military service suitability issues and 80 general psychiatric patients were recruited from the Department of Psychiatry of university hospital. ANCOVA and chi-equare test were used to examine differences between two groups. Furthermore, we utilized paired t-test to compare the scrore within military group depending on when they performed the psychological assessment. Results : There were no significant differences between military group and general outpatient group in WAIS-IV scores. However, military group scored remarkably higher than control group on validity scales, F-r and Fp-r whereas they scored lower on validity scale, K-r. Furthermore, military group showed significantly higher on BDI and MMPI-2-RF, EID, RCd, RC2, RC3, COG, HLP, SFD, NFC, STW, SAVE, SHY, DSF, NEGE-r, INTR-r. As a result of comparison within the military group following the periods of assessment, military group did not show the significant differences on the overall scales of MMPI-2-RF. Conclusions : The present study showed that military group tends to report their psychological distress more exaggeratedly. In addition, they had significantly elevated not only emotional distress such as depression and anxiety but interpersonal problem. The implications and limitations were discussed along with some suggestions for the future studies.
