It is clear that the women's participation in social activity is dramatically increased in civilian field as well as military profession. Because of the characteristics of military nursing service, there are many difficulties. Frequent move, medical insurance, baby care. and the education are typical forms of difficulties for nurse officers in the military. The purpose of this research is to contribute to the perfect execution of nursing service. guarantee the active attitude for research and improve the combat strength by solving those private and economic problems. The method of research was analysis of question survey and the review of related literatures. The subject of research was 300 active nurse officers who work at the Army Hospitals. The survey was conducted 14 days from Oct 15 to Oct 28. The collected data was processed by computer using SPSS(Statistical Package of Social Science). Frequencies and percentages were used to examine the demographic characteristics of subject, and T-test was also used in the case of necessity. The result showed as follows; As the general characteristics of subject group; 28.7 years of average age, 73.6 months of service period, 63.4% of married. In regard of specialty; General 57.7%. Intensive Care 12.7% and Psychiatries 8.8%. The dissatisfactory factors about military welfare system were the difficulties in children education (36.9%). disadvantages on the civil medical insurance system (27.3%), and little chance of self education and development (21.5%). The problems in performing their duties were shown as dwelling instability due to frequent move (67.7%), and bring up children (14.2%). The reasons for resigning their job were shown as the instability of living status (64.2%), bring up children (18.8%) and dissatisfaction to the service (11.2%). The residential status was shown that military offered houses (45.2%), rental houses (29.3%) and own houses(14.64). The average numbers of moving residencies were; 3-4 time(34.6%), less than 2 times(33.1%), and 5-7 times(21.5%). Higher than 94.7% of the subject group spent more than 50.000 Won. In regard of education, they wanted to attend graduate school with their own expense(26.2%), computer science(20%) and Office Job Training(20%). The ways of taking care of children were mother-in-low(49.6%), mother(14.6%), and others(25%). The average expenditure per month for children were 20-30 hundred Won(44.2%), 10-20 hundred Won(25%) and 30-40 hundred Won(22.3%). The places of children care selected were public or occupational care center(56.2%), religious organization(20.8%), and other center managed by social organizations(10.4%). The result of survey for general welfare of nurse officers are as follows; By and large they seem to be satisfied with their job. however. there are some dissatisfactory factors. They are children care facilties, promotion. income. welfare facilities. disadvantage in medical insurance and civil hospitals. house purchase. unfair chances in specialty training. influence on promotion by educational status. and insufficient role for their children and husbands. As conclusion. the recommendations for improving nursing service are as follows; 1. Children care center managed by occupation 2. Dormitory system for children by military personnel 3. Equal opportunities in education according to ability 4. Reasonable moving price according to the distance and scope of family and extra allowance

The purpose of this research was to analyze technological trends of 「Military Small Giant Venture Tech-Fi Net」 from Defense Technology Information Service via social network analysis. 「Military Small Giant Venture Tech-Fi Net」, which was constituted for their fine technology for application to the military field, registered 847 technologies of 388 companies. In this research, we analyzed 847 technologies for the relations between "Military System" and "Military Technology Category" via centrality measurement, one of the social network analysis methods. The results indicate that the major technologies of domestic military small giant venture companies were "Sensor" and "ICT" for "C4I System" and "Surveillance and Reconnaissance System" and "Platform/Structure" for "Land System", "Aeronautical System" and "Naval Sea System". In contrast, we recognized inadequate technologies, such as "Propellant" and "Material" for "Missile and Ammunition system" and "Sensor" and "ICT" for "Defense System", We hope that our results and method will be conducive to the technological development of Small Giant Venture companies.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the cognitive performance of major depressive disorder (MDD) in military service/conscription personnel who visited the psychiatric clinic for a medical certificate to consider the situation from the perspective of Korea's unique compulsory military system. We used the Korean Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-IV (K-WAIS-IV) as the test for verifying the suitable level of cognitive functioning for military service and as the embedded measure with reflecting suboptimal effort. Methods : The study was conducted on 56 (28 males, age 19-34) in/out-patients admitted to the psychiatry department and diagnosed with MDD (DSM-IV). All participants completed a structured clinical interview (MINI-Plus), as well as self-report questionnaires related to demographics and severity of clinical symptoms. K-WAIS-IV was administered to each subject to assess cognitive characteristics. Results : Military group showed significantly lower processing speed index (PSI) score including subtests of symbol search (SS) and coding (CD) score, compared to the control group. There was no other significant differences in the Full Scale IQ (FSIQ), Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI), Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI), Working Memory Index (WMI) scores including sub-tests comprised of the above indices, and Reliable Digit Span (RDS), Enhanced-RDS-Revised (E-RDS-R) between the study and control groups. Conclusion : This study was the first effort to verify the characteristics of Korea's military group with MDD and suggest the applicability of PSI and processing speed of K-WAIS-IV as an embedded performance index to test sub-optimal effort or low motivation beyond the purpose of testing cognitive deficits.

This study aims to diagnose the military manpower shortage problem caused by the rapid decline in fertility and aging population in South Korea and explore countermeasures. To this end, it analyzes the trends of demographic changes and military manpower supply and demand forecasts in Korea, and evaluates major alternatives such as expanding female soldiers, introducing a voluntary recruitment system, and adopting advanced weapons. It also seeks to derive implications through case studies of military manpower policies in major countries such as the United States, Japan, and Germany. The results show that in order to secure sustainable manpower for the Korean military, it is necessary to increase the proportion of female soldiers, review the voluntary recruitment system from a long-term perspective, minimize the power gap due to troop reduction, strengthen incentives for skilled manpower, and draw social consensus on improving the military service system and defense reform. This study is expected to contribute to the establishment of future military manpower policies in Korea.

The South Korean military has undergone four changes in operating methods since its inception with 31 nursing officers in August 1948. While it initially began as a special unit for nursing and other specialized services, it later expanded to include various fields including technology, administration, and special forces. However, analysis shows that there have been few significant changes in how it operates and remains largely centered around technology, administration, and special forces. With the development of advanced science and technology and a decrease in military resources, there is a need for the South Korean military to proactively expand its use of female personnel, as has been done by the US military, Canadian military, Israeli military with female conscription, and Norwegian military. In order to achieve this, there needs to be a cultural shift towards co-ed military units, improvements in facilities and equipment, adequate pay and benefits, and resolution of childcare issues through institutional reforms.
The study analyzes the effects of quality factors of health check-up service applied to military officer every year on the value and the behavioral intention of consumers so that it is be able to suggest alternatives to realize a systematic and realistic health check-up system. The survey period was from September 27 to October 4, 2016 and 294 out of 300 patients were finally selected; Frequency analysis, ANOVA analysis, Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. In conclusion, the Age(p<0.05), Number of examinations(p<0.01), Medical communication(p<0.01), Quality of service(p<0.001), Medical Services Value(p<0.001) were drawn as characterized results by sectors regarding health screening service quality and customer satisfaction and behavioral intention. In the future, the military should improve the quality of education and publicity programs to improve the awareness of health checkup system, and improve quality of health checkup service to detect diseases early.

This study aims to empirically investigate the effects of the individual-level characteristics on their timing decisions for their enlistments even though military services are their duties under a draft system. The individual characteristics considered include five psychological factors, such as attitude, uncertainty, information search level, future expectation, and perceived risk towards army, and other several demographic variables. Measurement scales for these psychological variables are developed and a duration model for individuals' enrollment timing decisions is also proposed. The proposed model is fitted to a survey data set collected from both those who have completed military service and those who have not. The estimation results show that two of five psychological variables, negative attitude and perceived risk, and several demographic variables, including education level, income level, residence area, and the number of family members serving the army, have meaningful impacts on the timing decisions for military service. Specifically, the enlistment timings are found to be more delayed as negative attitude towards army is stronger, perceived risk on army is higher, education level is higher, academic performance is better, income level is either low or high, residence area is either Seoul or big cities, and the proportion of family members enlisted is smaller. Several important managerial implications for alleviating problems resulting from enrollment postponements are also discussed.

As the importance of Knowledge Management System (KMS) in the military increases, Republic of Korea Army (ROK Army) developed Army Knowledge Portal. Although the members in the military are encouraged to use the portal, few members currently use it. This study was conducted to find variables to predict the user's intention to use the portal, which contributes to activating the use of Army Knowledge Portal in the army. On the basis of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), ten variables such as perceived ease of use, general information security awareness, information security awareness, expectation for external rewards, expectation for relationships, sense of self-worth, attitude toward compliance with security policy, attitude toward knowledge sharing, intention of non-combat knowledge sharing, and intention of combat knowledge sharing were considered as independent variables. 105 participants on active duty who currently use or have experience to use the portal participated in this study. The results indicated that general information security awareness and information security awareness increases compliance with the information security policy. In addition, the attitude toward knowledge sharing is enhanced by expectations for relationship and sense of self-worth. Based on the results, the authors propose the need for policy alternatives to reinforce the reward system and security policy, which activates the use of Knowledge Portal Service for ROK Army.

It is very important for more effective military operation to share information required in recognizing a situation by monitoring battlefield. The recognition of situations is offered visually though multi-media systems such as a COP(Common Operation Picture), UAV etc. The operating method has rapidly changed into Network-Centric Warfare (NCW). As a result, the data that these Multimedia systems should control is increasing. Improved performance of Multimedia systems is required to deal with them. In this paper, we propose Extended-Military Multimedia System(E-MMS) applying the most excellent scheduling method in terms of meet-ratio in real time when Multimedia systems carry out assigned information in real time for monitoring as the method of improved performance. As a result of utility about proposed system, it is verified that realtime EDF(Earliest Deadline First) scheduling method is more improved up to 20% compared to non-realtime FCFS(First Come First Service) in terms of the deadline meet ratio.

A key difference between a tactical military and commercial satcom system is that the military system is expected to provide a service in the presence of ECM threats such as jamming. In this paper, we analyzed the three different type of link system applicable to the military satellite and directly compared to each system in order to find system performance according to the maximum jammer power. For the analysis, we modeled and simulated the SHF satellite system based on uplink jamming. From the results, it is found for each different type of link the maximum jammer power that can be tolerated with link operating at its suggested nominal rate. Also, we studied to the survivability level against the jamming condition through the performance comparison in shipborne and portable terminal consistent with frequency.
