Background: The objective of this study is to identify the working conditions and health status of Vietnamese male migrant workers in Republic of Korea, in comparison to the Korean general population. Methods: We conducted our survey through the Migrant People Center, and we received completed questionnaires from 87 male Vietnamese migrant workers. The questionnaire employed was identical to those used in the Korean Working Conditions Survey and the 2020 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The collected data from the Vietnamese migrant workers was then compared with the Korean reference population using indirect age-standardization. Results: Vietnamese male workers demonstrated a higher prevalence of health problems including hearing problems (age-standardized prevalence ratio (aSPR) 13.22, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 8.07-20.4), skin problems (aSPR 13.49, 95% CI: 8.07-20.4), and low back pain (aSPR 8.40, 95% CI: 6.50-10.69). Elevated exposure to workplace hazards such as chemicals (aSPR 2.36, 95% CI: 1.51-3.51), organic solvents (aSPR 2.22, 95% CI: 1.44-3.28), handling of heavy objects (aSPR 1.67, 95% CI: 1.24-2.21), and high temperatures (aSPR 1.96, 95% CI: 1.46-2.57) was observed among them. Additionally, they faced a higher risk of no personal protective equipment (aSPR 2.53, 95% CI: 1.26-4.52) and a greater prevalence of unmet medical needs (aSPR 7.14, 95% CI: 4.74-10.32). Conclusion: Our findings highlight the elevated workplace hazards, health problems, and unmet medical needs among Vietnamese male workers compared to the Korean reference population. These findings underscores the urgency for enhanced scrutiny over working conditions and protective equipment provision, coupled with efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and worker education.
This study starts with the question raised from the perspective of marriage migrant women's pregnancy, childbirth and childcare policies. In other words, the study starts with the basic perspective that policies concerning the childbirth and childcare of marriage migrant women should be looked at from both gender-specific as well as a multicultural-specific perspective. In this context, the study examines the policy issues concerning childbirth and childcare of marriage migrant women from these two different perspectives as well as focuses on the current statistical data of childbirth amongst marriage migrant women. Next, the study examines the childbirth and childcare policies for marriage migrant women and proposes improvements in future policy developments. According to the study results, it is revealed that although there has been an increase in policies regarding pregnancy, childbirth and childcare, there needs to be a new direction and policy improvements in four areas from a gender perspective. Next, the results of the study indicate as a minority group, childbirth and childcare policies for marriage migrant women should take into account the various cultural backgrounds and differences from the following multicultural perspective.
The purpose of this study is to explore the factors affecting the welfare needs of the rural marriage migrant females. A survey was conducted on 300 rural marriage migration females using probability sampling and for the analysis stepwise regression was used. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows. The welfare needs of counselling on husband' behavior problem were higher in cases of worse mental health, better physical health, younger age and lower participation in the meetings with her fellow countrymen. The welfare needs on the children raising and education were relatively higher among the migrant females from Vietnam and younger age. The needs on the job skills training were lower in cases of the migrant females from Philippines, China(the Chinese) and were higher in cases of lower level of family understanding. The welfare needs on the job placement were higher among older and lower community affinity, and were lower in cases of the migrant females from Philippines. The results suggest that the welfare services should be differently provided to the migrant females in reflection of the age, education level, nationality and community resources. Further, the mental health screening test and treatment services for migrant females are needed since the welfare needs increase when the migration females have worse mental health condition.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the correlation coefficient of knowledge about multicultural, and attitude toward migrant wives by nursing Students. Methods: Research participants of this study were 212 students attending nursing university in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Jeollanam-do. A self-report instrument was used to measure knowledge about multicultural and attitudes toward migrant wives. Descriptive statistics, t-test, Mann-Whitney test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation analysis with SPSS/Win 20.0 were used. Results: The mean knowledge about multicultural was 8.10 out of 13 and the mean attitudes toward migrant wives was 2.45 out of 5. Factors affecting knowledge about multicultural were age. Factors affecting attitudes toward migrant wives were age, residential district, experience of overseas trip, experience of living abroad and foreign language fluency. There was a positive correlation between knowledge about multicultural and attitudes toward migrant wives. Conclusion: Developing knowledge about multicultural and positive attitudes toward migrant wives is necessary in nursing school curricula. Therefore, nursing educator should make actual and effective education program.

This paper is to consider conceptually a formation of food-networks and border-crossing of transnational marriage migrant households on the basis of actor-network theory, and to analyze empirical data on the issues collected by interview with marriage migrant women living around Daegu, S.Korea. Some research results can be argued as follows: First, food can be seen, not as a single material object, but as a multiple and hybrid network of human and nonhuman (material and institutional) actors, in which activities of food cooking and eating are regulated by and (re)construct social relations and placeness of households. Secondly, food-networks in marriage migrant households implement relationships of micro-power (and attachment) in the process of its (re)formation, and hence the food-network, it can be argued, is a field of power in which conflicts and compromising around food cooking and eating are intersecting each others. Thirdly, food-networks in marriage migrant households in both their origin country and in the Korean home are not only affected by macro natural and social environments but also by micro placeness of the households, both of which constitute the food-networks and operate in relations with other actors in the netwroks. Finally, food-networks in marriage migrant households reflect multiple and multi-scalar spatial mobility and placeness of transnational food culture, through which they express topologically 'fluid space' and 'absent presence', in which marriage migrant women can (or cannot) conduct social and cultural border-crossing.
As a multicultural society, is it right to adhere to the prevention principle of permanent migration of migrant workers? We need to try to do a little more calm consideration on the prevention principle for permanent migration rather than in terms of human right and emotional aspect. Even though there is a suggestion that we need to decrease the proportion of 3D Jobs by improving industrial demand, migrant workers can be an alternative in that we need a solution unless we can be freed from 3D Jobs. The prevention principle for permanent migration not only is against the trend of multicultural society but also blocks the opportunity for migrant workers to share their skills and knowledge taught in our country. In addition, with the society aging, that the permanent migration of migrant workers can be proper channels to supply young labor force should be kept in mind. In addition to this practical aspect, considering that all human beings are equal and with dignity and unequal conditions that migrant workers undergo require empathetic viewpoint, the prevention principle should be amended.
Migrant Worker are rapidly increasing in Korea since 1990. They are nowadays main sources of laborer groups engaging in medium-sized factories. The purpose of this study is to provide the basic information to establish proper oral health policy. Dental caries and periodontal disese are the most common disease that occur in the mouth. Periodontal disease is the most common disease in humans and the biggest reason for the loss of the teeth in the adult population. The CPITIN has been developed jontly by the international Dental Federation and the World Health Organization. CPITN is now an established index of level, of periodontal condition in populations for which specific intervention might be considered. This study was conducted to obtain the information regarding to CPITN of migrant workers located in Daegu, Questionaire survey was carried out for 289 workers from July 9 to August 8, 2006. Total survey was 289, 224 males and 65 females. The result was as follows: First, The number of nationality was 14. The first majority was China as 31.8% Among 14 nationalities were Cambodia 18.0%, Vietnam 12.8%, Sri Lanka 12.1%, Indonesia 7.3%, Nepal 4.2%, the other 13.8%, those who are aged from 20 to 29 were 43.9%, and salary from 1,000,000 won to 1,490,000 won 51.2%.(as for their residence, those who resided) over 3 years were 42.6% and not insured reached 68.5%. Second, more than 93.4% of the subjects need periodontal treatment, only 4.9% of non-smoker was health periodontal states, four times frequency of tooth brushing per a day was 16.7%. Third, 28.7% of migrant workers had experienced visit of dental clinic, and 22.9% had received treatment of decayed tooth. Fourth, It is difficult for them 65.1% of them to visit dental clinic in korea, the First was a communication problem and the second was time. Fifth, Most of them didn't have a oral health education but 85.1% of them said that they wish they attend oral health education. We conclude that the situation of migrant workers was very bad considering their working conditions, circumstances, and health condition. According to this study, more than 93.4% of the people need periodontal treatment. Besides they didn't have accurate knowledge about prevention of periodontal disease. Therefor our considering these facts, the policy of dental health by government should be established for migrant workers.

The inflow of Labor Migrants has been grown up to 600,000 people until now with the adoption of Employment Permit System (EPS) in 2004 until now. However the institutional support lack to ensure their rights and improve their conditions. This is because of their consideration ad temporary labors in South Korean society and labor forces rather than the objects of integration. As a result, the legal status and rights of migrant workers are criticized for their utilization rather than human rights, and human rights protection is insufficient. To this context, this paper analyzed the 19th presidential election pledge of the four political parties (Democratic Party, the Liberty Korea Party, Bareun Party and Justice Party) the majority of the Korean National Assembly, and predicted how the policies of migrant workers would evolve. The study found that there were two political parties that did not mention policies for migrant workers, and the remaining two parties also maintained their current policies. This is probably the biggest reason to recognize migrant workers as temporary residents. However, they should also be aware of the fact, that migrant workers are the members of the Korean society and are the owners of human rights that should be guaranteed, and should consider the policy directions to live with them.
Purpose: This study explores how demographic transitions with workforce implications taking place in South Korea are affecting the job market, and proposes a novel conceptual model to analyze the increased role that migrant workers will play as the changes progress in the medium term. Research design, data and methodology: A qualitative approach based on the available published data is used in order to create a conceptual model that could be used to determine the order in which job sector strata will be gradually taken over by migrant workers, as the demographic transitions will create an increasing need for workforce reforms. Results: The study determines that migrant workers will replace domestic Korean workers in a stratified manner, initially in rural areas, followed by regional cities and then in the industrial areas on the edges of big cities, and the strata can be analyzed based on a proposed four-category model to determine where the opportunities will open. Conclusion: It is possible to use a conceptual model for this phenomenon. Extensive Government planning is needed to avoid possible social exclusion problems and to determine how to keep the economies of rural and regional Korean cities economically viable while they are becoming increasingly depopulated.

This study attempts to suggest effective structures and contents of health-related information websites for migrant marriage women in Korea. Emphasis was put on the strategy to provide them with quality health information service through the internet websites. Specifically, this study surveys major issues, problems, and solutions related to collecting, organizing and serving health related information on internet websites. It is based on the analysis to the needs of and the barriers to access health information on such internet websites. For this, the study collected data from 6 websites and analyzed the menu structure, contents, and the presentation of information. It is expected that the results of the study will provide multicultural agencies with primary data to construct a web-based health information service programs for migrant marriage women.
