Purpose: This study was designed to identify the relationship between self reported climacteric symptoms, self concept and depression in middle aged women. Method: Data were collected through self-reported questionaires which were constructed to include a climacteric symptoms, self-concept and depression of middle-aged women scale. The subjects for this study were 102 women between 40-59 years of age living in P city. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Results: The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1) The relationship between self reported climacteric symptoms and self concept was statistically significant with a negative correlation (r=-0.4862, P0.001). The relationship between self reported climacteric symptoms and depression had a statistically significant positive correlation (r=0.5393, P<0.001). The Relationship between self-concept and depression had a statistically significant negative correlation (r=-0.3769, P<0.001). 2) General characteristic variables significantly related to self reported climacteric symptoms were age (F=3.13, P<0.05) and frequency of pregnancy (F=3.24, P<0.05). General characteristic variables significantly related to frequency of self-concept were age (F=3.13, P<0.05), education level (F=2.97, P<0.05) and occupation (t=1.84, P<0.05). General characteristic variables significantly related to depression were age (F=3.12, P<0.05) and number of children (t=3.59, P<0.05). 3) The obstetrical characteristic variable significantly related to self-reported climacteric symptoms was the frequency of pregnancy (t=3.24, P<0.05). Conclusion: This study shows possible implications for nursing intervention for middle-aged women's health to prevent and relieve climacteric symptoms.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the self-esteem, appearance satisfaction, and clothing benefit pursuit the gap between subjective age and real age according to gender and age of middle-aged consumers. For the study, the questionnaire was developed by the authors and distributed to male and female consumers in their forties or fifties on september 1~10, 2014. A total of 470 questionnaires was collected and used for the final analysis. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA and Tukey's test, using the SPSS 18.0 Package Program. The findings were summarized as follows. There were significant differences in the subjective age of middle-aged consumers according to gender and age. Female consumers in their fifties perceived their subjective age to be younger than male consumers in forties and fifties. There were no significant differences in self-esteem among the groups according to gender and age. Significant differences were found in appearance satisfaction of male consumers in their fifties having higher appearance satisfaction than female consumers in their forties. There were significant differences in some factors of clothing pursuit benefits including pursuit of fashion, pursuit of youth, pursuit of rationale, pursuit of leisure, and pursuit of loyalty, among the groups according to gender and age with female consumers placing more importance on clothing-related benefits than their male counterparts. Local fashion businesses to consumers who target middle-aged consumers, this study can provide a basic data.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the types of family function and mental health in low-income middle aged women using the circumplex model. Method: A descriptive research design was used. A sample of 116 low income middle aged women participated in the study. The Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale III was used to measure the types of family function. Mental health was measured by the SCL. Results: The types of family function identified were balance family (59.4%), extreme family (25.9%), and mid-range family (14.7%). Significant differences were found in mental health by the family cohesion (F=3.44, p=.019) and family adaptability (F=3.31, p=.023). The mental health status of extreme family was better than mid-range family and balanced family, but such result was not statistically significant (F=0.25, p=.783). Conclusion: The Circumplex model's main hypothesis was not empirically supported that extreme family has more problematic than mid-range family and balance family. These findings emphasize the need for the development of a family system model for Korean family.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for nursing programs to reduce fatigue among middle-aged adults by looking at age group differences. Method: The study used a secondary analysis design and participants were 315 middle-aged adults. The data was analyzed using $x^2$-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The findings revealed significant age group differences in socio-demographic variables for educational level, job, religion, economic status, consumption of cigarettes, experience with disease, satisfaction with spouse and children, and number of children. Scores of fatigue showed a significant difference between age groups. The factors influencing fatigue for subjects in their thirties were depression, level of education and self-efficacy. For those in their forties, factors were stress, depression, and self-efficacy. For those in their fifties, the factor was stress. Conclusion: For people in their thirties, school education or lifelong learning programs are needed to reduce fatigue. A disease prevention program and a family support program for people in their forties and fifties. Nurses need to provide customized nursing programs related to depression, stress and self-efficacy to reduce fatigue among middle-aged adults based on age groups.

This paper proposed the basic consideration for the reliable 3-D measurement and analysis of middle-aged women's breast using 3-D phase-shifting moire topography. The surface borderline of the breast based on the anatomical structure on the skin was suggested. Various breast dimensions that can be measured using 3-D measurement system and their measuring methods were discussed. Tips for the measurement of sagged breast were also proposed. It is expected that these basic considerations contribute to draw attention to the reliable measurement of women's breast and provide a kind of tools for the standardization of 3-D shape measurement of breast.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs and demands of middle-aged women concerning the educational contents of tea-culture, the managing methods of educational programs, and a plan to invigorate tea culture education as a whole. Here is the summary of the main results. 1) The need for tea-culture education scored an average of 4.14 / 5(maximum score). The actual needs for tea-culture education had varied according to the women's place of living, educational motives, and the desire to become lecturers in the future. That is, the actual needs for tea-culture education scored high among the groups who displayed strong personal motives to cultivate their inner minds and learn tea-culture seriously, groups who lived in Seoul${\cdot}$Taegu${\cdot}$Cheonju, and groups who wanted to become future lecturers. 2) The need for a systematic management of tea-culture educational programs scored an average of 4.10 / 5(maximum score). The need for a management of tea-culture educational programs varied according to the women's educational level and their desire to become future lecturers. That is, the need for a systematic management of tea-culture educational programs scored high among groups whose educational level was high, and groups who wanted to become future lecturers. 3) The need for a plan to invigorate tea-culture education scored an average of 4.05 / 5(maximum score). The need for a plan to invigorate tea-culture education varied according to the women's place of living, educational level, the managing subject of educational organizations, the desire to become future lecturers. That is, the need for a plan to invigorate tea-culture education scored high among the groups who lived in Seoul${\cdot}$Taegu${\cdot}$Cheonju, groups whose educational level was high, groups who were members of life-long educational facilities within universities, and groups who desired to become future lecturers.

This study investigates the buying behavior of apparel by middle aged women according to lifestyles. Questionnaires were distributed to 300 women who lived in the Seoul area and between 40 to 65 years of age. A sample of 248 women responded. To analyze the data, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and a Duncan test were used. As a result, the respondents were clustered into 4 different groups according to lifestyles. The groups included practical oriented group, economic oriented and practical group, active oriented and appearance group, and economic group. Their buying behavior was as follows. First, the active oriented and appearance group shopped at department stores and specialty stores; however, the economic oriented and practical group shopped at discount stores more often than other groups. The practical group shopped more frequently using TV home shopping networks, discount stores, and outlet stores, the economic group shopped at off-price stores, discount stores, and online more than the other groups. Second, the active oriented and appearance group bought classic suits and semi-classic suits, imported brand and/or designer brand apparel more often than other groups. Third, the active oriented and appearance group perceived another person's appearance, advertisement, and shop display as a more important information source than other groups. Forth, the active oriented and appearance group considered design & style, harmony with self-image, brand name, color, and coordination with other clothing as more important selection factors for clothing than other groups. The economic groups considered coordination with other clothing; however, the economic oriented and practical group cited ease of care as more important factors.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between parenting attitudes and martial intimacy and was to examine the mediating effect of marital communication in order to provide effective help to improve marital intimacy of middle-aged married women who have difficulty in marital relationship. Method: The subjects of this study were 229 married women aged 40-59. Statistical analysis of this study was performed using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, Pearson 's correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationship between parenting attitude, marital intimacy, and marital communication and the results were statistically significant. Second, the three - step hierarchical regression analysis proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986) was conducted to examine the mediating effect of marital communication on the relationship between parenting attitudes and marital intimacy, it was confirmed that marital communication was partially mediated between parenting attitudes and marital intimacy. Conclusion: This study is meaningful in that it was confirmed that marital communication was partially mediated between parenting attitudes and marital intimacy.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate on nutrient intake status and diet quality of middle and old aged vegetarian women in Korea, The research group was composed of vegetarian women (n=91), all of them were Seven Day Adventists, who had been on vegetarian diets, over 20 yrs. Their anthropometric measurements, dietary intakes, and diet quality indices were compared to omnivores (n=122). The average age of vegetarians and omnivores were 61.8 yrs and 60.3 yrs, respectively. The mean daily energy intakes of vegetarians and omnivores were 1428.8 kcal and 1424.5 kcal, respectively and there was no significant difference. The vegetarians consumed significantly lower intakes of protein (p < 0.05), zinc (p < 0.001) and vitamin $B_{2}$ (p < 0.05) compared to omnivores. In the diet quality, zinc and vitamin $B_{2}$ nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) of vegetarians were significantly lower than those of omnivores. Mean adequacy ratio (MAR) of vegetarians and omnivores were 0.80 and 0.77, respectively and there was no significant difference. The KDDS (Korean's Dietary Diversity Score) of vegetarians and omnivores were 3.7 and 4.0, respectively, and there was significant difference (p < 0.01). The KDQI (Korean's Diet Quality Index) of vegetarians (1.5) was significantly lower than that (2.1) of omnivores (p < 0.001). In conclusion, vegetarian women have low intake status of protein, zinc and vitamin $B_{2}$, and partly low diet quality. Therefore it was needed that well planed diets to replace the nutrients supplied from excluded food groups in middle and old aged vegetarian women. This study analyzed fashion taste changes for middle-aged men (40-50s) from the 1960s-1980s through newspapers evaluated as socially influential media. As a result, the fashion interest of middle-aged men in the 1960s was very low, and the formation and selection of fashion taste was mainly decided by the wife. However, as the interest in fashion and fashion gradually increased in the 1970s, the interest and taste of fashion in middle-aged men started to change. In the 1980s, social equality and women's advancement into society began, and initiated the appearance of a youthful-looking casual style and establishing an individual subjectivity about fashion taste. Based on this, the specificity of the change of fashion taste among Korean middle-aged men in the 1960s-1980s were as follows. First, the changes in the aesthetic sense of middle-aged men and the increase of fashion interest were due to changes in socio-cultural appearance standards. Second, there was an increase in the pursuit of individuality due to the weakening of fashion consciousness as a collective norm. Third, there were change in subjectivity about fashion taste and consumption.
