This study estimated the technical efficiency of coastal composite fishery in Korea by using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) methods, and the results on the respective method were compared. In the DEA method, the constant returns to scale (CRS) and the variable returns to scale (VRS) output-oriented DEA models were separated and technical efficiencies were estimated, respectively. The average estimated value of technical efficiency by the SFA method (0.633) was found to be lower than that by the VRS-DEA method (0.738), while it was higher than that by the CRS-DEA method (0.479). It was found that strong correlation exists between the SFA method and the VRS-DEA method. The method which can utilize both methods in mutually complementing way for the estimation of technical efficiency was also considered.

Numerical analysis of slop stability is carried out using seismic intensity, modified seismic intensity, and response seismic coefficient methods. It is found by comparing each of method that minimum safety factor precedes the required safety factor. It is also proved during analysis that most conservative method is the earthquake response analysis method, next is the response seismic coefficient method, and last one is the seismic intensity method. Usually, seismic intensity method is applied in analysis of slop stability. However, in view of safety factor, modified seismic intensity method is more conservative than seismic intensity method. Also modified seismic intensity method is appropriate when height of structure analyzed is high enough.

A torsional vibration analysis of a multi-stage reduction gear box connected to a gas turbine system is presented. For a free vibration analysis the Modified Hibner Branch Method, so called "Blank Matrix Method", and the .lambda.-Matrix Method are used in the modeling and the eigenvalue solution, respectively. Also, a short circuit forced analysis of the system is performed, utilizing the energy method modeling. It is shown that the results of the free vibration analysis have the same tendency as those of the short circuit analysis. analysis.

PURPOSES : The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness of an active noise cancellation (ANC) system in reducing the traffic noise level against frequencies from the predictive model developed by previous research. The predictive model is based on ISO 9613-2 standards using the Noble close proximity (NCPX) method and the pass-by method. This means that the use of these standards is a powerful tool for analyzing the traffic noise level because of the strengths of these methods. Traffic noise analysis was performed based on digital signal processing (DSP) for detecting traffic noise with the pass-by method at the test site. METHODS : There are several analysis methods, which are generally divided into three different types, available to evaluate traffic noise predictive models. The first method uses the classification standard of 12 vehicle types. The second method is based on a standard of four vehicle types. The third method is founded on 5 types of vehicles, which are different from the types used by the second method. This means that the second method not only consolidates 12 vehicle types into only four types, but also that the results of the noise analysis of the total traffic volume are reflected in a comparison analysis of the three types of methods. The constant percent bandwidth (CPB) analysis was used to identify the properties of different frequencies in the frequency analysis. A-weighting was applied to the DSP and to the transformation process from analog to digital signal. The root mean squared error (RMSE) was applied to compare and evaluate the predictive model results of the three analysis methods. RESULTS : The result derived from the third method, based on the classification standard of 5 vehicle types, shows the smallest values of RMSE and max and min error. However, it does not have the reduction properties of a predictive model. To evaluate the predictive model of an ANC system, a reduction analysis of the total sound pressure level (TSPL), dB(A), was conducted. As a result, the analysis based on the third method has the smallest value of RMSE and max error. The effect of traffic noise reduction was the greatest value of the types of analysis in this research. CONCLUSIONS : From the results of the error analysis, the application method for categorizing vehicle types related to the 12-vehicle classification based on previous research is appropriate to the ANC system. However, the performance of a predictive model on an ANC system is up to a value of traffic noise reduction. By the same token, the most appropriate method that influences the maximum reduction effect is found in the third method of traffic analysis. This method has a value of traffic noise reduction of 31.28 dB(A). In conclusion, research for detecting the friction noise between a tire and the road surface for the 12 vehicle types needs to be conducted to authentically demonstrate an ANC system in the Republic of Korea.

This paper introduces a simplified method to consider forming effects in a car crash analysis. Representative value was used to consider forming effects simply. Four representative values, which are the mean value of thicknesses and effective plastic strains at nodes, the median of thicknesses and effective plastic strains at nodes, were evaluated. A crash analysis of a front side member shows that analysis results from the suggested methods are similar to those from the conventional method to consider forming effects. Use of the mean effective plastic strain shows the best results. A car crash analysis for a ULSAB/AVC model under the condition of US SINCAP were carried out to demonstrate the validity of the suggested method. Analysis results show that the error of suggested method is less than 1.5%.
The purpose of this research is to check the validation of an auto-analysis method combined with aqua regia digestion apparatus for improvement of water distillation method used as a fluorine test of soil. Fluorine contents of CaO used in the pretreatment course of water distillation method were 120 mg/kg ~ 5,064 mg/kg at the blank test, which was exceeded up to maximum 12.5 times of the soil standard, so it was estimated due to a effect of fluorine existing as impurities of CaO. The recovery test of the same samples indicated that water distillation method and auto-analysis method were 134.5mg/kg and 161.7mg/kg respectively, the recovery ratio of the latter was 16.8% higher than the formal. The validation test of two methods satisfied the standard, but auto analysis method was excellent more than distillation method. Also, auto analysis method could save a analysis time up to maximum 4.7 times by comparison with water distillation method.

The major purpose of this study is to determine the dynamic behavior of soil-pile-structure interaction system considering the underground cavity. For the analysis, a numerical method fur ground response analysis using FE-BE coupling method is developed. The total system is divided into two parts so called far field and near field. The far field is modeled by boundary element formulation using the multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution that satisfied radiational condition of wave. And this is coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. For the verification of dynamic analysis in the frequency domain, both forced vibration analysis and free-field response analysis are performed. The behavior of soil non-linearity is considered using the equivalent linear approximation method. As a result, it is shown that the developed method can be an efficient numerical method to solve the seismic response analysis considering the underground cavity in 2D problem.

Recently increasing number of highrise buildings are aseismically designed by dynamic analysis method. To perform comparative study on the results of seismic design by dynamic analysis method, five-to thirty-story building models of ductile moment resisting frames and braced frames are considered. Base shears of these models using the spectrum of equivalent static method in the current Korean code and the ones of dynamic analysis method in the UBC-88 code are compared. Based on this study design spectra to be used in the dynamic analysis in Korea are proposed and the results are compared.

Scattering center extraction schemes for radar cross section reduction of large complex targets, like warships, was developed, which are an 1-D radar image method(range profile), and a direct analysis based on an object precision method. The analysis result of partial dihedral model shows that the presented direct analysis method is more efficient than the 1-D radar image method for scattering center extraction of interested targets, in terms of radar cross section reduction design, not signal processing. In order to verify the accuracy of the direct analysis method, a scattering center analysis of an naval weapon system was carried out, and the result was coincident with that of another well-known RCS analysis program. Finally, an analysis result of RCS and its scattering center of an 120m class warship-like model presented that the direct analysis method can be an efficient and powerful tools for radar cross section reduction of large complex targets.
In this paper we analyse performance of value strategy and moving average method among the non-financial listed companies whose fiscal year ends at December in the Korean Stock Exchange between 1996 and 2005. And we analyse combination investment performance of value investment and moving average method. After the analysis objective enterprises divide with the value stock and the growth stock, in accordance with moving average method we divide ascending stock and descending stock. And we compose 6 portfolios with combination of value stock, growth stock, ascending stock and descending stock. Using the difference of investment performance of these portfolios, when fundamental analysis and technical analysis method all considering we measure investment performance. The major findings of this research are as follows: First, the value strategy of buying value stocks and selling growth stocks were effective in the long-term investment. Second, using the moving average method, technical analysis were effective in the case of the short-term investment. Third, the portfolios combined fundamental analysis and technical analysis were more effective than investment performance of technical analysis.
