It is reasonable to use the stereo vision and image processing technique to digitize 3D coordinates of grid points and to evaluate surface strains on a sheet metal parts. However this method has its intrinsic problems such as the difficulty in enhancement of bad images inevitable error due to digital image resolution of camera and frame grabber unreliability of strains and thickness evaluated from coarse grid on the corner area with large curvature and the limitation of the area that can be measured at a time. Therefore it is still hard to measure strain distribution over the entire surface of a medium,- or large-sized stamped part at a time even by using an automated strain measurement system. In this study the curvature correction algorithm based on the grid refinement and the geometry assembling algorithm based on the global error minimization (GEM) scheme are suggested. Several applications are presented to show the reliability and efficiency of these algorithms.

We present highly transparent liquid crystal displays (LCDs) using hybrid films based on carbon nanomaterials, metal grid, and indium-tin-oxide (ITO) grid. Carbon based nanomaterials are used as transparent electrodes because of high transmittance. Despite of their high transmittance they have relatively high sheet resistance. To solve this problem, we applied grid and made hybrid conductive films based on carbon nanomaterials. Conventional photolithography processes were used to make a grid pattern of metal and ITO. To fabricate transparent conductive films, carbon nanotube (CNT) ink was spin coated on the grid pattern. The transparency of the conductive film was controlled by shape and size of the grid pattern and the thickness of CNT films. The optical transmittance of CNT-based hybrid films is 92.2% and sheet resistance is also reduced to $168{\Omega}/square$. These substrates were used for the fabrication of typical twisted nematic (TN) LCD cells. From the characteristics of LCD devices such as transmittance, operating voltage, voltage holding ratio our devices were comparable to those of pristine ITO substrates. The result shows that the hybrid conductive films based on carbon nanomaterials could be alternative of ITO for the highly transparent LCDs.

In a finite element analysis of the metal forming processes having large plastic deformation, largely distorted elements are unstable and hence they influence upon the result toward negative way so that adaptive remeshing is required to avoid a failure in the numerical computation. Therefore automatic mesh generation and regeneration is very important to avoid a numerical failure in a finite element analysis. In case of generating quadrilateral mesh, the automation is more difficult than that of triangular mesh because of its geometric complexity. However its demand is very high due to the precision of analysis. Thus, in this study, an automatic quadrilateral mesh generation and regeneration method using grid-based approach is developed. The developed method contains decision of grid size to generate initial mesh inside a two dimensional domain, classification of boundary angles and inner boundary nodes to improve element qualities in case of concave domains, and boundary projection to construct the final mesh.
$SF_6$ decomposition products can be used to detect partial discharge (PD), but the metal materials in a PD area can significantly affect $SF_6$ decomposition characteristics. Disregarding the effect of metal materials on such characteristics inevitably result in certain errors when using them to diagnose the internal insulation faults of gas-insulated switchgears. This paper investigates the influence regularity on the main stable decomposition components of $SF_6$ (namely $SO_2F_2$ and $SOF_2$) of the commonly metal materials uesd in GIS, such as aluminum (Al), copper (Cu) and stainless steel (SS). Firstly, an experimental platform is constructed to simulate $SF_6$ decomposition under a PD area, and the influence regularities of Al, Cu and SS on the concentration, formation rate and saturation time of $SO_2F_2$ and $SOF_2$ are obtained. Secondly, the influence mechanism of Al, Cu and SS are preliminary explored combined with the chemical activity of the metal materials.

This study has been focused on the development of shear forming process of grid for lead-acid battery. The grid plays an important role in the flow of electricity because the grid is a skeleton of the pasted plate. Therefore, it must be of the highest quality to prevent plate failures and then, battery failure, and ensure the best battery performance possible. The finite element analysis of the shear forming process is carried out and the result is compared with the experimental data. The influence of the numerical parameters such as clearance, velocity of punch and critical damage value on the simulation results turns out to be very considerable.

Standard crystalline solar cells are generally fabricated with the front grid pattern of silver paste contact. We have reported a detailed theoretical analysis of the proposed segmented cross grid line pattern in this paper. This work was carried out for the optimization of spacing and width of grid finger, main busbar and sub-busbar. The overall electrical and optical losses due to front contact were brought down to $10\%$ or even less as compared to the usual loss of $15\%$ or more in the conventional screen printed silver paste technology by choosing proper grid pattern and optimizing the grid parameters. The total normalized power loss for segmented mesh grid with plated metal contact was also observed and the total power loss could be brought down to $10.04\%$ unlike $11.57\%$ in the case of continuous grid and plated contact. This paper is able to outline the limitations of conventional screen printed contact.

The characteristics of hybrid conductive films based on multilayer graphene and silver grid have been investigated for the high-performance and flexible organic solar cells. The hybrid conductive films have been prepared on glass and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates using conventional photolithography process and transfer process of graphene. The optical and electrical properties of prepared conductive films show transmittance of 87% at 550nm and sheet resistance of $28{\Omega}/square$. The electromechanical properties were also investigated in detail to confirm the flexibility of the hybrid films. OSCs have been fabricated on the hybrid conductive films based on graphene and silver grid on glass substrate. The power conversion efficiency of 2.38%, a fill factor of 51%, an open circuit voltage of 0.58V and a short circuit current of $8.05mA/cm^2$ were obtained from the device on glass substrate. The PCE was enhanced 11% compared with OSCs on the MLG films without silver grid.
The formation of front metal contact silicon solar cells is required for low cost, low contact resistance to silicon surfaces. One of the available front metal contacts is Ni/Cu plating, which can be mass produced via asimple and inexpensive process. A selective emitter, meanwhile, involves two different doping levels, with higher doping (${\leq}30{\Omega}/sq$) underneath the grid to achieve good ohmic contact and low doping between the grid in order to minimize the heavy doping effect in the emitter. This study describes the formation of a selective emitter and a nickel silicide seed layer for the front metallization of silicon cells. The contacts were thickened by a plated Ni/Cu two-step metallization process on front contacts. The experimental results showed that the Ni layer via SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and EDX (Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) analyses. Finally, a plated Ni/Cu contact solar cell displayed efficiency of 18.10% on a $2{\times}2cm^2$, Cz wafer.

In this study, on the structure simulation for manufacturing a high strength/light weight 48V battery housing for a mild hybrid vehicle was conducted. Compression analysis was performed in accordance with the international safety standards(ECE R100) for existing battery housings. The effect of plastic materials on compressive strength was analyzed. Three models of truss, honeycomb and grid rib for the battery housing were designed and the strength characteristics of the proposed models were analyzed through nonlinear buckling analysis. The effects of the previous existing rib, double-sided grid rib, double-sided honeycomb rib and double-sided grid rib with a subtractive draft for the upper cover on the compressive strength in each axial direction were examined. It was confirmed that the truss rib reinforcement of the battery housing was very effective compared to the existing model and it was also confirmed that the rib of the upper cover had no significant effect. In the results of individual 3-axis compression analysis, the compression load in the lateral long axis direction was the least and this result was found to be very important to achieve the overall goal in designing the battery housing. To reduce the weight of the presented battery housing model, the cell molding method was applied. It was confirmed that it was very effective in reducing injection pressure, clamping force and weight.
Cartesian grid system has mainly been used in the casting simulation even though it does not nicely represent sloped and curved surfaces. These distorted boundaries cause several problems. A special treatment is necessary to clear these problems. A cut cell method on Cartesian grids has been developed to simulate three-dimensional mold filling Cut cells at a cast-mold interface are generated on Cartesian grids. Governing equations were computed using volume and areas of cast at cut cells. In this paper, we propose a new method that can consider the cutting cells which are cut by casting and mold based on the patial cell treatment (PCT). This method provides a better representation of geometry surface and will be used in the computation of velocities that are defined on the cell boundaries in the Cartesian gird system. Various test examples for several casting process were computed and validated. The analysis results of more accurate fluid flow pattern and less momentum loss owing to the stepped boundaries in the Cartesian grid system were confirmed. We can know the momentum energy at the cut cell is conserved by using the cut cell method. By using the cut cell method. performance of computation gets better because of reducing the whole number of meshes.
