  • This research presents a fashion adoption process model based on collective selection theory and examines the differences in the consumer adoption process of merchandising types at each stage of the fashion cycle. A questionnaire survey of 472 adult women was conducted for the purpose of empirical analysis of the fashion adoption process. The results show that fashionability and popularity (the primary attributes of fashion goods) have direct effects on resistance and adoption as well as indirectly through social compatibility and personal compatibility in the evaluation stage. In conclusion, on the theoretical side, this study verified the fashion process model according to consumer participation in the adoption process of fashion goods existing at different stage of the fashion cycle, internally through negotiating with individual tastes, and externally through interacting with others. On the practical side, this study presented an empirical result that can apply to merchandizing strategy centered on merchandizing type by connecting consumer adoption for the fashion goods released by actual companies.

In the fast fashion industry, the standardized business process model is required to respond quickly market trends and customer requirements based on the quantitative and qualitative criteria. Thus we define the product supply processes which incorporate forecasting and assortment plan, cost and profitability of the production, store capacity based on the visual merchandising, and production capacity of the fast fashion retailers. Also we design the key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of these product supply processes. The product supply process model for the fast fashion has great significance in embracing the fast fashion product development process because it presents the holistic view of the product supply process of the fast fashion and provides a performance evaluation mechanism. A case study shows that adopting the processes, a Korean fast fashion company achieves improvement in various performance indicators.

  • A teaching manual was developed to incorporate the creative problem solving process into a fashion marking course. Students' creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical thinking are promoted by applying the creative problem solving process systematically to solve authentic business problems experienced by local apparel business owners. This teaching manual is based on the FourSight Model that consists of Clarify, Ideate, Develop, and Implement. Various tools promoting divergent thinking are also utilized in the process. A local fashion business is invited as a problem owner and four resource groups are formed with students based on the results of the Kirton Adaption Innovation Inventory. Each resource group consists of 6-8 students. The creative problem solving process is implemented into a classroom setting as four 75-minutes sessions that are held twice a week for two consecutive weeks. The local fashion business owner will be in presence during the first (Clarify) and last (Implement) sessions. The instructor facilitator meets with the problem owner outside the classroom three times including pre-session client interview, after the second (Ideate) session, and before the third (Develop) session. This modified CPS manual for fashion marketing and merchandising courses provides practical guidelines to work with local fashion businesses while providing students with learning opportunities of the creative problem solving process.

  • 'Burn-Out' is a kind of printing process that can create many textural effects, also high added value of the fabrics. In the previous studies, it is examined how to burn out the cellulose part of the velvet and the polyester/cellulosic fiber mixed fabric without damage of the other part and the effects of process conditions. In this study, dyeing properties of the colored burn-out printing were investigated with various conditions onto the polyester/cellulosic fiber mixed fabrics with red disperse dye. As a results, the apparent color depth (K/S) is increased with increasing of concentration of dye. The optimum treatment conditions without any shrinkage or occurrence of yellowness on the polyester ground fabrics are fixation temperature of $140^{\circ}C$ and time of 3 minutes.

The decision factors of color assortment planning were identified with four stages; information search, qualitative evaluation, quantitative evaluation, and selection. There were differences of color assortment decision factors due to different business types, business sizes, fashion-ability, sourcing ways, and merchandise turnover. Noticeable color assortment decision factor differences caused by country difference were not found except considering the target market ethnicity and skin color in US market. • When the polyester/cellulosic fiber mixed fabrics were treated with sodium hydrogensulfate for burn-out printing, it is examined how the effects of process conditions as concentration of acid, fixation temperature and fixation time act onto the properties of the polyester ground fabrics. The print paste, indalca solution, was mixed with sodium hydrogensulfate and glycerine, and then screen-printed on the fabrics. The properties of the polyester ground fabrics after removing away the cellulosic fibers were investigated. The yellowness index and the breaking load of polyester ground fabrics affected by the process conditions, especially dry heat fixation temperature.
